I love the idea that you are making some more videos on the tools/bits and what they can do, and the fact that you have a different art style is a big plus.
I fookin love it dude 🖤🤘what a knot, Ive been looking but here in the UK there isnt anything like that . Wicked looking Green Man as its more organic looking in form & the detail n texture is outstanding. Look forward to Sunday n Hope your doing good brother 🤟
Thanks Spike, Sunday's giveaway will be some knots and bark. Hopefully you can get your hands on this. Might have to do a double give-away, haha! Hope all is good with ya, all the best 2 you! 🙂
Hey Paul hope all is well where ever you are lol. This one is really wicked looking, love it. That tree knot is awesome, I found a tiny one but you can't carve on it thats how small it is but still cool. Ok take care see you on the next one.
Thanks Mike, you'd be surprised what you could do with a small piece of wood, but sometimes those small bits can be a crap shoot. I have used an articulated mounted magnifying lens with some past projects with small stuff but not often. Hope all is good!🙂
@@wood-psyche I'm going to give it a try with the micro bits and see how it goes. Congrats on the 1k subs and still going. I see a bunch of new people here and thats awesome for you, people need to see work it's one of a kind for sure.
Very cool Jesse, from my observations, looks like a lot of tentacles coming out of the mouth. Mine was toned down somewhat. haha! All the best to you ! :-)
Hi WP... Yes it is indeed a departure but recognizable as a Wood-Psyche carving to be sure...well done !... When you say it's inspired by Lovecraft..I can see how it might be so..however could you see the features of that reference in the wood before you started or was it in your mind to create something Lovecraft would have created ??..lol..sorry...I'm always curious how the creations come to be...for instance..I truly dislike random blotches on tile or other surfaces because my brain sees faces..yep...I'm always thinking if I draw them maybe I'll stop seeing them !...I would be drawing all day..every day..lol... So..again..was it from your reading or the grain and shadows that inspired you ?... Either way it was a treat to see a difference in the woodspirit evolution...I hope you're well...have a great weekend and I'll check out your Sunday video... 🌿🌿🌿
Thanks Pamela, I didn't start the project with the Lovecraft in mind, it came accidently as the face was coming together. The mouth I wanted to have like roots coming out and that's where I got the idea with the Lovecraft character Cthulhu. I wanted the tree trunk covering the nose with the tree top being where the brow or forehead is. I still feel that I can do more with this one but decided to find a decent stop point. It was the shape of the wood coming out of the mouth that I drew a connection with the Cthulhu. Lovecraft seems to be dark, something of a curiosity. Hopefully that explains things a bit more ...all the best to you! 🙂
Excellent explanation... Thank you..😁... Yes I know Lovecraft and many other writers that have a dark humor...there was a time I read voraciously those writers..trying to understand the mind of darkness...a personal journey due to a life experience...when I was finally done I have away all the volumes and didn't look back...funny how the brain works and how it's influenced..even by a bit of carving... Again..thank you...🌿🌿🌿

Hello WP. Cool carve for sure. I did look up Lovecraft for a refresher…and I see the connection. Thanks for the video. Take care.
Nice, Lovecraft has some crazy stuff going on, nothing to take lightly. Haha! All the best to you! 🙂
Amazing piece of wood but not as amazing as what you turned it into - loved this piece.
Thank you, appreciate that. Still wonder if there's more to do with this one, but have to have a stop point and quit obsessing. Haha! 🙂

Hey one more thing I like how you added the chapters, nice touch I know it takes time so much appreciated. Done.
Yeah it's something to make things easier for navigation I thought. I try to maintain chapters with longer videos...🙂

Thanks James, a little different. Was hesitant with this one but decided to go with it. 🙂
Cthulu based but still very much your own style, nice one Paul!
Thanks Claire, exactly what I had in mind with the mouth on this project, I read some of his stuff. Weird creatures. haha! Hope all is good! 🙂
That’s pretty wicked & nice work, Paul! I was asked last week to do a Cthulhu carving…..I’m gonna have to study it, not sure if I can pull it off lol!
