Wear a mask, eye protection, and hearing protection, and consult your tools' manuals prior to using them to ensure safety. This video is for my insta @logscarvingclub.
If you're looking for more wood carving designs and videos, I recommend watching the video where I carve a greek paddle with a Dremel 4300. I use Walnut, Poplar, and Epoxy! The epoxy was a hassle but came out really cool.
Have just received a Dremel… so excited to see the magical things that can be created… I ‘m 77- and starting something I have never tried… what fun it will be!
I’m glad you’re excited! I love to use mine. Make sure to be safe when you’re using it!
Good show, enjoy!
@@LogsCarvingClub thank you…. I wear all the protective gear and totally enjoying!
What type of wood do you use?
Never to old brother, just getting mine today and im 36, good little hobby and you can make stuff for your grand kids or great grand kids. Enjoy!
I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
I agree Maria
I love that you give your hints as you carve. Beautiful carving.
Thank you very much!
You give me the courage to move towards something like this!!!
You do a fantastic job with camera angles and instructions. I’d love to see more carvings soon.
Thank you!
I agree, I wonder how they get the camera so close while still seeing what they are working on?!
I just got a Dremel yesterday can’t wait to start carving & making things. I’m planning on going on a hike tomorrow so I can hopefully find some wood 🪵
Great to hear! I hope the hike went well. Did you find a good piece?
Thank you for such a good explanation. Now I’m waiting for my dremel to be delivered and your video is the best manual how to work with this tool 🙏🏻
Thats so clever my friend, but do-able thanks. Nice to see so few tools used, it can be daunting for a beginner.
Thank you Richard! I try and keep these mostly beginner-friendly with minimal tools.
Hands down the best dremel powercarving tutorial for beginners. Idk why but compared to others out there, you really make something seemingly daunting into a very simple, step-by-step process.Thank you! I think this will be a christmas gift this year :)
Thank you so much! I’m glad these are helpful. Handmade gifts are always the most special, let me know how it goes.
You make it look like its easy
It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it! It’s also much easier if you have a model to look at while you’re carving
Such cute bear! 😻 It would be so whimsical if it becomes salt and pepper shakers to the tables.
That’s a wonderful idea! Thank you!
Damm, you made that look easy
Thank you Juan! It’s not too hard
He sure does! Got me to thinking I can do this...mine not as good as his. I'm going to do it again...Inspiration is motivation.
amazing wood carving
Thank you! I appreciate it.
@@LogsCarvingClub ok !
Great tutorial and beautiful carving !!!
Thank you very much!
Amazing!!! Makes me want to try that with my Dremel. Thank you!
Great! You’re very welcome
Beautifully done Sir!👌👌❤️thank you 🙏
My pleasure! Thank you for the kind words
Very nice!
Thank you Andy!
First of your carvings I've seen, it's beautiful. So have subscribed to check your other works, keep doing what you do. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
This is the first one I've seen as well! It's so smooth
Tremendo oso te mandaste. Felicitaciones
Thanks Adrian! I appreciate it
Finally your back
Thank you! Sorry about the break I'm at college most of the year
@@LogsCarvingClub I understand that. You are a huge inspiration.
te quedo muy bien te felicito
Thank you Gabriel!!
Beautiful, but I have to point out that quadripeds don't walk like that. If the front-left leg is forward, the back-right should be forward.
Thank you! But they switch between them pretty often depending on pace
I used to carve alot of wizards, native Americans, old men ect about 12 inch tall but I cheated and roughed them in with a bandsaw after blistering my hands on the first couple, back then there was no dremels, I used a utility knife small files and sandpaper but I just bought a new dremel with about every attachment available, I just cleaned up a long piece of driftwood for a walking stick I’m going to carve multiple figures down the whole length except handle.
Very cool! Let me know how it goes
Subscribed! Nice video!
Thanks for the sub!
Hermoso trabajo👏
Thank you Jose!
brutal....can you get the same results by carving it with a knife?
With a much softer wood, yes. With the woods I usually use though this would be really frustrating.
That’s some awesome handy work ! How thick of a board do you start with? It looks like 1.5” or 2”
I don't remember to be honest, but yeah somewhere between those. Probably 1.5 since I have a hard time getting 2" usually.
Great job can you do more of these types of carvings with a Dremel please? Thank you in advance.
Yep! I plan on it. Thank you!
I bought my Dremel for 3d printing finish but this is tempting to learn too. Thanks! Dremel should sponsor you :D
Thank you! How do you use it to finish prints?
Great job! Can you show how we make a dolfin with dremel ?
Thank you! That might be fun maybe soon
Great job! I have some questions... At the begging, What type of drill bit did you use for the Bear silhouette? Is it the one generally used for flat cutting? And do you recommend any other bits from any other brand that work with this dremel tools?
My English is too bad sorry if i made a mistake whit the writing... blessing from Costa Rica!
Hi - I used the dremel 561 I believe for the silhouette. Other than that I have most bits I use linked in the description, some are other brands. Thanks!
I just got my rotary tool. Not dremel brand tho. I like to try this wooden animals and give to my son to play with. I'll subscribe to your channel for more ideas.
Thank you! I'm sure your son will love that.
gorgeous. İs that lesson for begginers or advances? And what do u to suggest brand of maschine?
Probably medium difficulty, but worth a shot regardless of experience. It took me a couple tries before I started doing them well. I’ve always used the dremel brand, but it’s more expensive, I’ve heard some people prefer the less expensive brands
Sweet! I've wanted to carve a makwa and this video is great to learn from. I try practicing on Jenga game pieces first. When I'm done with my seahorse, I'm definitely going to try a makwa (bear). I'm Ojibwe and the bear is my dodem. Makwa Dodem (bear clan).❤❤❤❤ 🐻
Hi! Have you tried carving a bear yet? I'd love to hear how it went.
Wow bro.
The carving only took a couple days, for the editing several months since I was really busy with school. Usually editing only takes 2 or 3 days
Excellent Job! How many RPM did you use?
It depends, usually 20-25k for carving and 10-15k for sanding. The dremel has a manual that lists a lot of rpms depending on tool and material. Thanks!
Awesome video! Just subbed. Where do we get templates to use for carving? Nice work, man!
Thank you! I just find them off of google images searching “bear line art” or “bear outline” for example.
круто!
Thank you!
Is that a Stylo.
I don't remember but it was probably the Dremel 4300 with a flex shaft. I don't have a Stylo yet.
Вы очень хороший мастер по дереву . Пожалуйста сделайте из дерева горного льва
Thank you! That would be fun - maybe this summer if I can find the time
Hello master :) can i use 560 like 561, becaise 565 kit has 560 and 561, this is important for me, thx your information
Good question! I don’t use them since the rounded tip doesn’t cut. Maybe you could only shave from the side of it, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I have a couple of those too and I have no idea what to use them for
@@LogsCarvingClub thank you very much, take care
Those 60 Gritt Sanding Drums
Work Good Too. I used One
To Make My Spoon Rest.
That’s a great idea for the spoon rest - I know a lot of people use them for carving and not just sanding
Okay! I just finished my first bear. I want to do it again....only better. Thank you for the motivation! This is a great place to learn!
That's fantastic! If you email a picture of it to me I'd love to see the finished product!
I would also love to see your first bear carving! Amazing videos thank you
Thanks man I just started carving. This is extremely helpful. Awesome job!
Glad I could help!
Is this possible on stone too?
I guess, I wouldn’t though cause it’d take forever and use a lot of burrs I don’t have. Also lots of stone dust so you’d need to be careful. I could try making a mini one though
Amazed what a Dremal can do… Thank you for sharing
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
Info of that Drimer 561 please blessings from Puerto Rico
What do you mean?
Awesome work. You have a great talent for carving! I hope to get my first Dremel in the next few days and start some of my own work. The spoon looked like a decent place to start as it's not as detailed as some of these can get. I subbed and liked and look forward to more of your videos. Thanks!
Thank you! I’ll have a new spoon video posted hopefully within the next couple weeks that’s better than the last one
I'm just getting into wood carving and this is an extremely practical video! Love it, keep it coming.
Thanks, will do soon!
You make it look easy. My dremel tool likes to attack me when I get to the edges
I had that same problem, learned to be extra careful around the edges haha.
Can these tools be used on a plaster? For carving life cast?
Thank you :)
I’m not sure… sorry!
dude..... am just captivated! hahaha. Awesome job!!! So cool that you can do that with a dremel! I have some woodworking idea that I want to work out and was looking up some dremel videos. I love woodworking and woodcarving!! Really cool!
Thank you so much!
Is a 12000 rpm good enough for carving? Or do I really need a high rpm one?
Might work, but I'm not sure if it would work well. I usually use mine at 20-30,000 for carving.
Hi, I am a dremel user in Turkey. Could you please write the codes or names of the dremel bits you use?
Hi - should be in description
With which wood did you make this? You also did a very good job 👏 it's beautiful!!
Canary wood I believe - I hadn’t used it before this. Thank you!
I've only made one bear since I started 3 years ago, and I made it with a chainsaw, not a great success, but it looks like a bear 🐻😅! I'm going to try with the Dremel thanks! Do you use the flap sander that you can make yourself? I also discovered this thing for water, but for certain wood, including basswood, I didn't like it because we never stop sanding the fluff!
Hi, I don’t make my own flap sanders, I usually hand sand these or use abrasive buffs. And yes for getting it wet then sanding some woods seem to be eternally coarse, like a recent experience I had with birch. Usually very dense hardwoods don’t do that though. Good luck on the bear!
@@LogsCarvingClub You should try the flap sander, it helps a lot and it goes everywhere! But yes, hand finishing is a must!
muy bonito
Thank you!!
hi there i got my self a dremail 2050 stylo plus will it work for this carving as well
I'm not sure, I haven't used one. I'm worried there wouldn't be enough power to get the initial cutout. The carving part you might be able to do, just more slowly.
Wow! Can you please do a video, carving a sea turtle? This was my first video about this and you caught my attention! Subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your videos. I was actually looking for a video using a Dremel pet nail grinder for my cat, Paws. Then I clicked onto your video and I was fixated! Beautiful wooden bear, and the colors of the wood gorgeous!
I’ve actually carved a sea turtle before if you’d like to see it on my Instagram under the same username. I haven’t made a video though. I haven’t tried grinding my dog’s nails because she’s scared of loud noises. Thank you for the kind words!
Very good video and a beautiful Bear!
Thank you for showing and you give me a Inspiration 👍
Thank you!
If you were to sell this how much would it cost
4 million dollars
Thanks for providing UA-cam with something fun and wholesome!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you
Great tips! Do you have a video teaching how to use all the accessories? Thanks 😊
I carve with a Dremel but I can’t get a chuck that will take a 3/4 mm bits. If anyone knows where I can get them thank you.
I loved watching your video.
My most recent video may answer that, I also have a chuck video on my second channel. Thanks!
@@LogsCarvingClub Very informative. Thank you
This might sound like a dumb question but how do you keep your drawling on the wood
I used white glue to keep the template on there, then used a regular pen to draw when I needed to. Sometimes if I carve it off I’ll redraw it with pen (not sharpie though since those bleed into the wood)
Papa, use a papertowel in a sandwich bag to spread your earl and wax. No waste! Use less!
Ah I guess... With some finishes I'm always worried that leaving a paper towel sitting saturated in oil would be a fire hazard. I may be over thinking it though.
Is There a problem using an 561 or 562 without the dremel guide? I want to try cut with them, but i don't know if it' dangerous or something.
You mean without the black depth attachment around them? If so I barely use those, I cut with the 561 and 562 all the time. The 561 is definitely dangerous though so you have to be careful, but it cuts really well. The 562 is slower but more precise
@@LogsCarvingClub I really apreciate your answer. Thanks you so much! 💯
What is the size of the block of wood? Mainly the thickness
Around 2 inches I think, I can’t remember
Could you carve my partners torso? Costs how can I contact you?
I don’t think I could… don’t currently have enough time to take commissions
Wat are the best bits to use as a beginner
Whatever you have, I’d start with tungsten carbide bits and engraving bits for a while to get a feel for carving then move to 561 and 562. The sanding bits and whatnot are all pretty easy to work with I think
Thanks for the tips love your vids
What a great work and video. How long did it take to make this piece?
I did this over 2-3 days if I remember correctly. I don't spend that many hours each day on these though. My hands get sore if it's too much at once.
What kind of bit is the first one I never seen rotery carving like that before
It’s the Dremel 561 multipurpose cutting bit
Great video. It came out so well. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much!
Would love to see you do sports logos of teams. NHL Hockey (Montreal), NFL football (Green Bay) … I was thinking of doing (trying) this myself.
That sounds like a fun idea! Do you mean like an epoxy or engraved sign?
What did you feed the squirrel with?
Very life-like and wonderfully crafted, as always! :)
My sympathy goes to Pearl... Looks really cold out there. Greetings from the +25C IL (and not a raincloud in sight!).
I’m a little confused… squirrel? pearl? Thank you though! It is quite cold here. Also, where is IL? I’m assuming not Illinois
@@LogsCarvingClub Sorry... YT jumped me to a new video and I was replying to the previous one. Nice bear!!!
I am attempting to carve a Harley motorcycle in wood using knives and gouges. This is becoming very difficult as I progress so I’m considering using my Dremel. Have you carved a motorcycle?
I haven’t, that seems really tricky with all of the detail of a motorcycle
What was that first bit you were using when cutting out the shape?
561 I think
Bro which Dremel model is the best considering the price
Honestly not sure, I’d focus more on the style of it (size, power, battery or corded, etc), because if you only need some small tasks done every once in a while a dremel lite might be fine (and less expensive), but if you’re stationary like me and use it a ton I like my 4300
Stick to dremel please I don’t have a grinder
That’s the plan for now!
been carving for awhile but this video is really great simple and well done
Thank you very much!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Very well done. Cheers from Brazil. We have no bears here, but I really love this guys since I was a little boy. lol
Plenty of other cool animals in Brazil! Thank you for the kind words
The bits that use in this video, could they be use for cnc?
Not sure, I haven’t used a cnc. I’d imagine they shouldn’t be used
Hello man, its possible make this job with a Dremel Stylo? My fear is the Stylo don't have a power for a more brute desbaste
Well done. Use whatever tool you need for a good looking carving. Great complete instruction. Thanks.
Thank you! And I agree! Lots of roads to get to a similar result. Some are much easier than others though.
Awesome video, awesome results !!! Idea, Instructions, description, camera, everything were perfect. Thank you very much. Keep it up ! Awesome gift for a kid as well. Thank you
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the kind words
How many consecutive minutes do you use your Dremel for each task? Do you set a time limit for, let's say... no more than 10min or so? Thanks.
Yeah usually I turn it on and off pretty frequently to change bits, few minutes each, but if I’m using one bit for more than 10-15min straight I take a break for a minute or so to rest my hand or change my music. If I’m using it for hours I’ll usually take longer breaks so I don’t overheat it
Excelente trabajo, que madera utilizas, que se ve tan fácil su manejo , gracias
Thank you! This was canary wood, it’s not very common
where did you get the paper outline from?
Just Google images, you can search bear outline or bear line art or something of the sort
@@LogsCarvingClub ok thanks!
My brother gave me a Dremel 8220 for christmas this year. I have no idea what to do with it but this video gave me some ideas. Seems the 8220 is quite heavy for jobs like these. Is their any way to easen up the weight/strain on my arm and hand?
Hey Jakob, I’d get a flex shaft attachment. You hang the dremel and the flex shaft is then the work piece. It’ll remove the point of having a cordless tool but if you’re stationary it’ll be helpful. I’d look into it
I like your video, where do you purchase the wood?
Great question - I got this at a local exotic wood store, but sometimes I go to a place like Rockler woodworking or get cutoffs from local furniture makers. It’s tough to get thick blocks of nice lumber usually, but try to find somewhere that sells bowl blanks
That’s SO COOL… the Dremel was the first tool I bought myself as an “adult” when my wife and I bought our first house. I didn’t find it as handy as social media proclaimed it to be…. 5 years later I’ve gotten into woodworking and it seems like I was trying to use it wrong. Would love to give something like this a try…. Subscribed!

@@LogsCarvingClub it may, but you mentioned having 3k subscribers, and you now have 11k and the vid was posted 6 months ago so I just did some maths lol
@@darodes ah gotcha, good maths! The growth has been really cool! Need to get around to editing more videos but I prefer the carving over the video making

que velocidad pusiste en el dremel para usar la fresa de corte. gracias

Where did you find the pattern and approximate dimensions?
Hi, I don’t like following plans so I just pulled a picture off of google images and changed the size in Microsoft word
