- Alex Wassabi recently bowed out of his scheduled fight with KSI. The internet has been quick to ridicule him for stepping back to recover from a concussion. Here's a quick update on how serious a concussion is and why I think Alex is making the right decision after all. #shorts

I’ve had one concussion before 🙋♀️ it is painful and i did have to have a CT scan. It takes a while to completely recovered and i had to sit out from gym for about a week. Once you have one concussion it’s possible to have multiple more. I stand with Dr. Mike and say that Alex post pones the fight. Following medical advice isn’t lame it’s for your own safety.

Thing is, people aren't saying he should have fought anyway, people don't think he actually had a concussion. Because only a few days after announcing that he was concussed he went to the gym with friends and it was posted on instagram. Also there was no proof provided that he was actually concussed just a video of him getting a ct which doesn't prove whether or not you have a concussion.
@@nunyabusiness8498 people ARE saying he should have fought anyways. The thing is, most people don't actually understand how dangerous it is to fight with an injury. Most people don't get it and say "oh he should have fought him anyways, an injury shouldn't stop him", even though it could cause long lasting problems for his health.
People said the same thing about Tommy fury and Jake paul when fury pulled out because of a broken rib and some kind of infection, and people said, "oh fury should have fought him anyways if he was so confident he'd win", yet they not realizing that a broken rib could puncture an organ. People are just disappointed so they dismiss injuries
@@nunyabusiness8498 concussions may not show the first time-but if ignored, the 2nd or 3rd one could lead to permanent brain damage. I know a basketball player who ignored concussions he experienced in high school and is now suffering the consequences of. He used to get As and showed no sign of any learning disability, but now completely failed in college with easy classes and had to seek more involved medical care

You got it wrong, they are complaining because alex kept saying he was gonna fight ksi and win. It was his choice to go and fight ksi the ones complaining never said they would fight ksi. But just because alex said he wanted to fight ksi they complain about him not fighting due to a concussion 2 weeks before the fight which is kinda sus after all that trash talking against ksi

As an athlete who has had 5 concussions, I can say that being rushed to do things again is not nice, and just getting the concussion can be draining in many ways.

If he gets a concussion mid fight, end of the fight. He is whether knocked out or trying to not puke his gut on the floor. Plus it is too dangerous and no one want an athlete to die on the ring.

I’ve had 5 concussions and trust me when I say that each one is worse than the last. After my most recent concussion, I dealt with Post Concussion Syndrome for months. I also have chronic migraines, trigeminal neuralgia, and occipital neuralgia. A helmet saved my life as a teenager, and I continue to advocate for them. All those problems are still a GOOD outcome. I function, and can even still do my sport. Concussions are no joke.

@@Anino_Makata I am an equestrian. At this stage in my life, I ride in Three-Day Eventing, which is one of the equestrian sports in the Olympics. :) I ride, train, and teach as my full-time job, although I am currently recovering from a fractured pelvis, so I am out of the saddle for a while.

My brother just got a concussion, and he had to sit out from his sailing camp for a week. People should TOTALLY take the time they need to recover so they can stay safe

The reason why people have dogged on Alex including me is because we simply believe that Alex did not get a concussion and simply lied about it to screw over KSI at the advice of Jake Paul to get money and ruin KSI's event which is the ongoing narrative. The reason I believe this narrative is because Alex hasn't shown any paperwork that says he had a concussion. He has been at the gym while claiming he ate candy which is something concussion patients are advised not do.

Hi Dr. Mike, would you mind doing a video on eating disorders? I think it would be good for people who are struggling with them, or just to spread awareness. I use to have one, and now fortunately fully recovered from it. I had anorexia, and I am just so grateful to all of the UA-cam's I watched that helped me through it. They weren't very big channels, though, not like yours. I hate to imagine that people don't ever realize what can happen if you suffer from an eating disorder, some people don't even realize they have them, or what they are doing is wrong. Glad to see Doctor Mike talking about this! I'm not an athlete, just clumsy. Because of that, I've had multiple concussions. My brain is SCREWED UP from it. Expecting athletes to put themselves further at risk is just horrible.
More people believe he doesn’t actually have a concussion and is just using it as a made up excuse to pull out. If he is, yeah he shouldn’t fight. But that’s IF he is concussed.

As an athlete who has had a concussion, I’m glad Alex pulled out of the fight. He did the right thing, if he were to go through with the fight who could injure himself even further. Thank you for making this Video Doctor Mike!
As someone who plays a contact sport (rugby) concussions are taken super seriously with players being pulled off the pitch if the medic even thinks theirs the slightest chance of one. As well having a minimum of 3 weeks off for even the mildest ones. With the addition of a 3 concussion limit before being essentially banned for life

Dr Mike, respect your work. But you only look at things without the bigger picture. Jake paid Alex to pull out the fight. He tried to ruin KSI’s fight but KSI managed to do a comeback.
Alex just clearly faked it because Alex and his management team claimed at first that he broke his hand than said that it was a concussion, and then said that they never claimed that he broke his hand. He just made it up. His story ain’t consistent neither is it making sense.
It’s not that we went Alex to rush into fight after having a concussion, it’s that we don’t have proof of it. Like he got injured and Jake Paul’s fighter also got injured at the same time and that’s when Jake called KSI out and that’s what makes it suspicious. Of course it would be different if he had proof, people think Jake paid Alex.

I have a concussion right now. I play volleyball and they are slowly easing me back into playing, as of right now I can't do anything with equipment but can warm up/cool down. I was diagnosed without a CT scan btw.

Anyone who thinks he should have gone back in with a concussion has either never had one or never been in a competitive sport. I've had 3 concussions, each worse than the last. The first wasn't so bad, the third was awful and I wasn't allowed to compete until I had the all clear from two doctors. It's dangerous. You don't play around with concussions.
