I did CPR on a friend. When I broke her ribs, I cried! (I was also a teen) Thankfully, I had been taught how to give them properly in a middle school health class. Too bad no one mentioned that can happen. No, seriously, I had no idea. I thought police might try to go after me for assault. 😂 The doctor and ER staff commended me and let me know that OFTEN happens when done correctly. Their support and encouragement stuck with me. I went into nursing.

What you said about first watching a child's reaction when they fall, really brought me back. When my kids fell, they'd look at me before reacting so I knew they were OK. I'd just say, "it's OK, you're durable." And they'd get up and go play. When my daughter was little, my mom came over and my daughter fell. My mom gasped and started getting up. My daughter said, " it's OK, I durble" it was so cute! If they didn't look at me and started crying, I'd go to them. But when they looked at me before reacting, I knew it was nothing serious.

My golden retriever, whose sadly no longer with us, used to lay in the snow until she melted a dog shaped outline down to the wood on our deck. Then, she'd get up, move to where there was more snow, and lay down again. It was her favourite thing in the winter. She was perfectly fine so long as we dried her properly when she came in.

When my kids were little we used to cheer every time they fell. Like 10/10 good job kid you did it! That would reverse the initial panic and they wouldn't cry. It was a quick way to keep them calm so we could see if they were actually hurt or just surprised. It worked really well to help them not freak out when they actually got injured. My youngest daughter ended up breaking her leg a couple of years ago and didn't cry at all. The doctors in the ER were shocked cause she was just sitting there saying it hurts but wasn't crying at all. They didn't realize it really was a brake until they saw the xrays and told her she was one of the bravest kid they've ever seen.

8:51 I’ve heard that referred to as “dad pats” lmao. I assume because that’s how a lot of dads (older guys in general) pet the family dog/cat. There’s a pretty clear difference between hitting your pet and giving them a firm pat.
If it’s hurting the animal it’s gonna be pretty obvious. The animal will run away, get aggressive and try to defend itself by biting or clawing, or they will visibly cower in fear.
But lots of animals enjoy being pet this way. My cats absolutely love it. They’ll start purring very loudly and if I stop they will start rubbing up against my hand like they don’t want me to stop.

It's not like I *SHOULD* care about people seeing me eat, it's a problem because I shouldn't, yet I do. Same thing goes for bathroom anxiety. Literally everyone has to use the bathroom. You talking about the Karen telling you not to hit bear reminds me of my own experience like that. I was walking my dog (she was Staffordshire bull terrier & she was a big girl & very strong) along the high street, someone had obviously been to the takeaway & dropped it all over the ground, while walking by the food my dog obviously thought "yay! Free food!" So when she tried to eat it, I was pulling her away from it (my dog was wearing a harness, not a collar so i wasn't worried about choking her) this woman starts screaming at me from across the street that i shouldn't drag my dog. I just snapped back at her to mind her own business because if she had bothered to look properly she would have seen that i was trying to stop my dog from eating foods with unknown ingredients off the ground. I asked her if i should just let her eat it & possibly get sick. She told me i didn't have to pull her as hard. I simply told her "lady, she's a huge bull terrier that's determined to get to the food, do you want to come over here & try just giving her a gentle tug? Come on over, give it a try, see how it goes!" She stomped off mumbling to herself. I wasn't harming my dog in any way but i had to pull her hard enough to combat her strength. I was so angry i was shaking! To be screamed at by a total stranger was bad enough, but the fact she was accusing me of harming my dog just tipped me over the edge!

Years into her life, probably 8-10 years from then, she started yowling and acting strangely. We took her to the vet and he felt at her abdomen and found a hard, almost felt like a rock sort of lump. They did an X-ray, and what the vet saw he said " This is something you only ever see in a text-book. " Apparently, they found out that during Boot's labor, her uterus ruptured, and the unborn baby slipped into her abdominal cavity. For years, the fossilizing fetus remained unbothered until she grew old and lost weight. Once she lost weight, that was when it started giving her pain. Somehow, when they fixed her, they couldn't find it. We let the vet keep it, because he said it was so spectacular he had to show the other vets.

It’s never ever hard enough to hurt them , it’s as hard as you did to your dog. As the owner of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Classed until about a decade ago as a dangerous dog/fighting dog.) She just loves rough play, so i get that completely. For me is "zoomie taps", finger spanks on her back end with a fast rythm, after about 10-20 seconds she starts chasing her tail or doing 'zoomies' around the house. Its actually a erogenous zone on dogs (male and female), so tapping or spanking their back end is actually pleasurable to them too. (Yes, the same way tapping womens breasts is 'enjoyable' to them.)

As I understand it, the vagina is a self-cleaning organ; thus, any external 'cleaning' methods are likely unnecessary and quite possibly unhealthy, as they might interfere with your natural processes. In this age of overthinking, sometimes it really is best to just let the body handle things instead of trying to "detox" or "cleanse" ourselves with various methods that suspiciously often involve large payments... and worrying amounts of pain or discomfort.

Dr Mike, if you’re interested here’s a good one for hyperbaric chambers.
My brother in law has cystic fibrosis, and had a double lung transplant. A few years later he had significant sinus issues that his transplant hospital said was caused from the heavy medication post transplant.
He then had surgery on his nose/sinus area and then one night woke up swollen and clearly infected. After a quick trip to the hospital he went downhill fast and was immediately airlifted to Sydney from our rural town. He was then sent to Prince of Wales hospital, where he was diagnosed with rhinocerebral murcomycosis (hope I’ve spelled that right). Because he was a diabetic, an organ recipient, already had CF and had a compromised immune system we had a very dire outlook.
The doctors decided to try oxygen therapy using the in house hyperbaric chambers. I believe he is the first case in Australia of using this form of treatment, for a CF patient post transplant (maybe CF altogether - I have to check!). After an extensive treatment cycle we went from essentially saying our goodbyes in ICU to just having lunch with him and his new family today. It blows my mind if someone is using oxygen therapy for a seemingly superficial reason, because it saved my brother in law’s life

Regarding the glass shard in the leg, there is a light stitch line about an inch below it, running left to right, so there was apparently some past trauma to that area that is old enough to have a faded and softened scar.
I know someone with a similar story. Broken auto glass embedded in his forearm at the beginning of the summer migrated to the other side and came out that fall. It took the entire summer to pass through or between muscles, tendons, and bones to come out the opposite side of his arm. The school nurse was completely at a loss. It didn't take 10 years though in his case.

At the time, I told my parents that there was something inside my hand (bottom part of the palm, about an inch over my wrist). They dismissed it and assumed it was just the pain of having my hands hurt. I told them several times over the years that I still felt something there, but they said if that were true, the body would've rejected it already by then. It became more painful with time and when I was around 15yo I couldn't take it anymore and did pretty much the same as that person did. It looked very similar too, I was expecting it to bleed or something, but I had just a red hole and the shard had a bit of blood on the point that was furthest down, so I'd say that one is true

Nowadays, my sister who has five kids that she raised by herself doesn't even blink when one of her kids falls. Obviously she make sure they're okay, she's watching them, but she doesn't make the mistake of telling the kid that they are hurt. She is also VERY dramatic when she does get hurt, although I am sure some of that is her personality. She is steadily getting better at facing her fears of getting injured though....

Most painful thing wasn’t the internal injuries, skull fracture, or anything like that… it was the road rash on half my body. Think a skinned knee at 60 MPH. They debrided the burns while I was in a coma but even now it’s healed up for years I still have gravel it healed over and black “tattooing “ from hitting the asphalt with force.
