Hey there, great work. I worked on transport truck engines for a couple of years... Just a tip for the o- rings, when o- rings are in coolant, I used dish soap instead of regular grease or petroleum jelly as these can get the o-ring to swell and deteriorate prematurely. Just my 2 cents.
TYVM for the video very very helpful, I;m just a regular weekend DYi'er . Got everything out and back in with a few or several broken injector TABS "just the tabs not injector itself" pretty much all the tabs! they were extra crunchy. I put a Dabb of rubber glue to prevent popping out, , is this something to worry about? when almost fully completed ... I FORGOT to put back the big black sponge that goes on top of the valley, is this sponge very important or cosmetic? atleast if I can see a leak comming for sure next time I'm dredding taking it all apart just for a sponge...uuuuuuurrggghh I'm stuck on stupid.... THANKS AGAIN!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Great job man, great job. I like your candor and your "can do" attitude. The comradery is great. Thanks for the vid...it helps to see the hurdles involved. I'm look at doing this on a '12 GX and hope to document it half as well as you did. Thanks for posting this. Cheers! -100
Had to laugh at the sealant all over the place after starting with a nice bead and clean hands because the bloody part is a bitch to get in place. Have been there many times on motorcycles and as recently as last week . At least the bikes are on a lift so no back problems.🤣
Very nice man, doesn’t look like a fun job by any means man, I’m getting ready to knock this out on my 2010. Question. How’s she holding up? Any smells or anything irregular, I might go with the same gasket stuff cause I don’t want to use the Toyota stuff.
Thanks for the video. Had mine done at the dealer under extended warranty. They used the Lexus Black FIPG even though I had requested and offered to pay for other options. Any idea how long the Lexus stuff may last?
Lexus tech here if you talking about the black silicone we use then yes it’s the best one and we don’t use any other silicone, done multiple coolant valley leaks, timing covers, oil pans no comebacks yet 👍🏼
I bought the Aisin FIPG (coolant safe) from Amazon which I'll try out when I do mine. I figure it can't be any worse than what the factory used - my 2014 ISF only has 58K miles and I noticed some slight coolant loss from around 50K.
I had anxiety watching you work with the 8 ports open. Especially when you were cleaning inside The Valley. Man, that task looks like a pain in the behind. I use Permatex products to lubricate my brake components. Good stuff! Looks like breaking connectors is inevitable. Are the replacement connectors in general like the headlight connectors? Meaning no soldering, just repin & secure with new connector? I wish I could have gotten a closer look at the famous injectors everyone warns the rest to be extra careful in not to break. Thanks a lot for filming & sharing this!
Hindsight I should have covered them, but it was all good. I checked each rubber for debris before the intake went back on and was just careful working around them.
I just did my LS460 about 3 weeks ago, What a job... Sheesh. I'm scare your gasket is compromised with all the touching and rubbing! Did you pull it out and re-seal it a final time?
I'm going to be attempting this repair this next weekend and bought the Toyota silicone, conflicted if I should return and buy the right stuff. Did you torque down the valley plate in a sequence or to a specific ft lbs.?
That is crazy timing. I dropped my ISF to the Lexus dealer today to get the same job done plus fit PPE headers. They are dropping the engine as it is easier that way to do both jobs.
@ mike: if you don’t mind, how much did the dealer charge you for that? I had them inspect mine last time I was there and no sign, but I’m @ 128k in an 09, so I figure I’m bound to end up there.. planning on doing ppe @ the same time too!

I did this repair on my 08 ISF and it wasn't that bad.

If its natural rubber o ring you don't want to use petroleum oil or grease, synthetic o ring then petroleum grease is ok

How is this repair holding currently?

You should be fine with what they used.

@@Elypternal do you know what parts I would need to diy this for 2014 ls460 f sport?
@@trailerparkninja sorry for late response but we charge 8-10 hrs of labor. Labor rate is at 200$
My IS F is also worried about this part
Once you install the RTV stuff, can you wait to put it on or just throw it on when ready?
So much for lexus reliability!

My isF has bubbles in the coolant tank but there’s no overheat u think it’s the valley plate?
How's the sealant holding up a year later? Could you also drop the part # for the O-rings for the crossover pipe? TIA

I have the same issue with my ls600hl. Is there are a part number for this? All I can find is valve cover and head gasket info
@@benwilliams1826it’s gasket maker, no actual rubber gasket like valve covers etc. he showed what he used in the video
😂 you gotta learn my boy....take time to master a tech status c tech
Tavarish had the same issue with his motor too

Don’t have an answer, but did attempt/complete the job?
@@hoarbaby yes I torqued it from inside out to 15ft lbs. Similar to the pattern of the intake manifold
@@hoarbaby I used the Toyota stuff
Does the 5.0 in the LS600hL also have this issue?
Nah, 2UR-GSE and mainly the silver top ones. The later blue tops don't have as many issues

100% I would drop the engine if I was doing both. Good luck man, hopefully they didn’t hurt you too bad!

@@hoarbaby I did it myself. I believe we charge around $1700-1800 for the Ls460. It’s probably in that ball park for us.
@@mgarcia7685 my bad, I meant to direct that to the other guy that’s having the dealer do his work.. solid work on your part man, I’m impressed!
1282b and rubber grease
I hate that foam pad for real. I will eliminated on my car very soon
Anyone fix this with radiator stop leak?
Radiator stop leak doesn’t fix anything. It’s a temp band aid which ruins a coolant system.
