I’m working on this now, had everything buttoned up and started to fill with coolant, and it was pouring out that cross over pipe. I used coolant as a lubricant because I knew this was a potential issue. Guess that didn’t work!! Any tips to confirm the pipe and o rings are seated properly? Thanks!
Did lexus ever fix this defect? And if this problem something all of these engines will have? Because this is more like Chrysler reliability. Shame on lexus for this.
@musoui They’re not designed to leak again, they just do because Toyota used an inferior sealant. And shame on any shop that “fixes” the leak using a sealant already proven not to last.
There is a lot of good advice here. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I never thought about what RTV stands for. Thanks for the info!
Great video. Like the duck tape protecting engine openings.
I was thinking of tackling this job my self , well glad I didn’t lol
Very detailed video. Informative. Thank you so much. Going to encounter this on a 10 LS460.
Some great tips and deep insights - very informative.
How is the vehicle holding up today??
Thanks.
Thumbs up if you noticed at 16:06 that my socket was too big and the bolt wasn't tightening at all ;)
10:20- I meant to say “cooling system o-rings”. Obviously there are other o-rings compatible with fuel or oil.
Bar’s Leak Block Seal (~$20) fixed this for me. It has been about three months and 3000 miles later and no more leak.
Wow and yikes 😮

I was wondering if you would recommend the same gasket maker for the timing chain cover also, since they are also prone to leak?
Great vid!!
Does anyone have a fix vid for the LS460? I need to to mine, can't find any on utube.
I guess this is the only video in this series?

change coolant every 5 years, see the car care nut video on it
To my knowledge it’s an issue all the way to 2023.

Mine just went and I did regular coolant changes😡
