My porsche Carrera gt is in pieces - amid the global recall work - I travelled to Porsche centre Reading to see my V10 Carrera GT on the ramp being worked on and see the new suspension parts being installed.
i bet the customers in there in suits are thinking... look at this young dreamer videoing whilst im here buying my 100K 911. not realising you got a gt and your gt is worth 10x what he/she is getting...
Its amazing that Porsche allowed you to nose around so much. And, even tho its used a bit too lightly these days in my opinion, the Carrera GT truly deserves to be called a race car for the road
@@TGE Tom answer me me a question, has this car been involved in an accident at the front? I noticed some white pen writing on some of the parts underneath ? Clearly not factory lol
Appreciate the time you took and amount of info in this video Tom, it's an important car in the grand scheme of historical supercars so well done mate!!
Great video, Tom really enjoyed that. Nice to see the old girl back on the channel Must admit I did like that white one, you shown us on them lovely wheels painted white 😊😊😊😊😊
Love the more geeky video and I agree the Porsche recall has been very quick. At the end of the day the car is 20 years old and they have had to do R&D and lots of testing of the new parts. I say well done Porsche for looking after their halo cars. I wonder how many other manufacturers would have done the same.
Marvellous video love to see behind-the-scenes and when you get to go into the workshop and see your car tied down cool to see all the details and what makes the car drive so well with the suspension and everything it’s just epic thank you so much TGE
It was great being able to see underneath your car. You are obviously a very important customer Tom to get this access. The large bolt I was positively aroused 🤣🤣.
Still respect Porsche for standing behind their cars and doing this. Also for allowing filming and showing how far developed that car really was for 20 years ago. The carbon work underneath is unbelievable. Thanks
I recently seen an older guy in his GT around Leeds area. Got chatting to him and he showed me everything. Never used to like the GT but in person it is a special bit of kit.
Pankl are a great Austrian company that produce driveshafts and suspension components for everything up to and including F1. We used them on the Apollo i.e. and they were a great company to deal with
You may have already seen, but Porsche published a video a couple days ago of the team resurrecting the LMP 2000, which had the V10 that was put into the CGT. Amazing piece of history and incredible that Porsche still values their heritage quite to this level, rather than just shoving it into the museum until the end of time
Hats off to Porsche for doing this. You don’t see Ferrari and McLaren doing this for their halo cars. Definately get the Mesh done to save the radiators 👍🏻
Truly a remarkable machine and yes you are a sod. I’m not saying lucky cause luck is not the source of your success but sod for owning a CGT nonetheless👊🏻
911 ST just casually sat outside. Will have to visit Porsche Reading does look massive. Exited to see the Carrera GT stuff in this vid. I have seen dirtier cars Tom so no worries.
I genuinely don't understand why owners get pissy when their registration plates get shown. Like, how come? Should people also avert their eyes when they drive past on the public road??
He said lots of GT owners in the States were driving them as the road are not salted in places like L.A as the problem is rust problem. He said the UK is a nanny state were they stopped the insurance and with cameras watching you from every corner 😂
@TGE when porsche first came out with this they said it was OK if you had the car checked by a porsche service centre and Doug had his checked and it was OK with no rust it was later they done the recall.
It’s not going anywhere until it’s looked at again- will take it in before any trips next year regardless. Part will have to be ordered etc and wana get my car back & out of their hair.
Tom, you must have more money than you’ve got sense if you were going to change the tires on that GT . FFS their brand-new at least wait until theses 25% left . 😂
@@TGE has the GT been in some sort of accident ? Or have you fitted some secondhand parts to it? I noticed underneath in the video some parts have been written on with White part marker pen ?

Insightful production here - one of your best. The car is one of your best too. More like this would be epic and yes you need to repurchase a 996 C4S!

Amazing or unprofessional. I’m sure I wouldn’t want my gt being filmed by some UA-camr while under the stewardship of my OPC…

Enjoyed the ‘geekie’ video. The level of engineering on the CGT is insane.
very interesting and amazing access. thanks for sharing as love your entire GT ownership.
Great content, thanks for sharing and getting an inside look for us who can only dream about owning a CGT
Glad you approve. Thank you!
Great video, It's fascinating to look at the engineering of this GT.
WOW. 10/10 video!! Nice work.
Tom you’re living the dream!!! Smiles for miles! Love your content from 🇦🇺
Big love! Thank you!
The 911 dakar would be perfect for UK roads 👌
Still my favorite car you’ve owned. Props to Porsche for repairing these classics on their own dime. Still bet you had to spend a few of your own.
Love these type of videos. I remember your last service vid. Classy

Honestly one of the best videos and most interesting to do with ownership of Carrera GT. Where did the saying "Halo Cars" come from?
I don’t know! Haha strange phrase
Great video. The kind of geek video I love. Could spend hours in there too…

Wouldn’t do a road trip of any length with a weeping radiator!
I’d say any coolant loss, no matter how small is not good.
No road trips are going to be done before it goes back in 😂
I genuinely don't understand why owners get pissy when their registration plates get shown. Like, how come? Should people also avert their eyes when they drive past on the public road??
I’ve actually never really understood this either - but it’s just me being respectful adhering to what I’m told to do haha
“Engineering is their thing”
Yeah, that’s why they’re replacing all the suspension 😂
In fairness what have you engineered? Other than picking your nose?
The American guy Doug DeMuro he didn't stop driving his GT he said it was not a problem its not sure why.
Well insurers cancelled the insurance on ours here. And there have been cars with problems found. But he obviously knows better than Porsche AG

@TGE Living here in Germany, the main dealers will rarely give the cars back with known issues.
Kinda shocked how weak the stock suspension mounts and drive shafts look on the CGT.. Same as a Boxster..
Please go in to the Porsche shop and buy a ball cap that fits!
