@@resinfanatics as long as you keep the pot under the highest rated psi, all will be ok. I got a harbour freight pressure pot (as many folks do) and converted it. Works well, i usually keep it at 45 psi overnight, well below the highest rated psi. They are scary though, the first pressure test i did, i could hear the metal expanding, was a little scary.
I used to smoke weed but not anymore. But if I had to for a medical reason I would. Anyway, this I can see being a real hot item with people who smoke it. It's gorgeous! I've made several ashtrays and that's exactly how I measure how much resin I will need. Tfs 😍

I love the idea of magnetic resin mixer and I tried to look it up. I found some on Amazon. But all of them say that they are not suitable for high viscosity liquids which I think resin is a high viscosity liquid. Have you tried it? I tried to find a video that you said you would use it in but I didn’t find anything. Did u try it? Did it work? Soo curious. By the way loved ur video and I subscribed to ur channel 😃
I tried doing this with a non-sticker and bubbles formed under it which would be the top. It is much safer and easier to do it this way so you can check on the bubble situation. That is the most important side for "looks".
I just make the ashtray and then put the picture/sticker on when it’s done then put a good layer of up resin over it so as not to have any colors blocking the pic

Waiting to see your thoughts on the magnetic thing a ma bob. I found something similar for mixing hair color and probably could handle the thickness, being a former hairdresser, but the bowl isn't silicone and it's a bit cheaper. Found a video from a beekeeper and he uses his to make sugar syrup for his bees. It seems to work for something thick and bigger magnets do dad's are out there.
@@resinfanatics I pulled the gun on buying 2 of the Professional Electric Hair Coloring Bowl Automatic Mixer For Hairs Color Mixing, for those wondering what I will be trying. Gonna buy a can of flex seal and coat the bowls inside and out, along with it's mixing tool, depending on how they all fit together. I like the idea of the wide mixer/beater and control of the speed, more so than a fast spinning magnet. I will keep ya posted on my thoughts on mine.
What’s the white for? I used it once and it came to the bottom had pretty colors on one side and white dots on the other, did I do something wrong or missed something?

@@resinfanatics I think it's called allumnite something like that what do you use and does the cold affect the drying should it be cold or warm when drying
with the inks and a mold its kind of hard with the torch... let the resin sit in the cup for 10 minutes the bubbles will rise to the top and pop it there ... or set your cup in a bowl of warm water to warm up the resin and pop bubbles

i have the same mold for an ashtray. I have been using alumilte clear cast and a pressure pot for bubble removal. This combo works like a charm.
Im scared of pressure pots.. but i do hea they make very good results

If you use a resin with a thinner viscosity you can pour the whole thing and then add the alcohol ink.

You might try using rice instead of water. That way there is no chance of water in the resin in case you don’t get all the water cleaned out.

I couldn't get it to work the first time I tried and haven't had time to play with it :(
for the decal sticker, could you have put it in in the very beginning as a first layer and pour resin over it? then continuities layering?
you can but the first layer has inks so you might not see it clearly

The UV resin takes about 2-3 if you have a UV light to cure it or 20-30 mins in the sun

mabye you are heating it too much, the mold should last for a long time
hi new to all this. When you said it took 6oz did you have to mix 3 oz of A and 3 oz of B to get the 6oz total or is it equal parts 6oz A and 6oz B

casting resin is not good for ashtrays .. that is for deep molds. your going to want the art resin or liquid stone for ashtrays

nope the alcohol will pop them for you... torches are not good for molds..

I tried this but with a different mold and I followed everything you did and my alcohol inks floated ontop. It hasn’t sunk down. Why?

Is resin flammable? I want to decorate some bongs but I don’t know if that’s a hazard
I would say that's a no.... You dont want to breathe resin fumes in and its not good under direct flame
you could always stir the ink into the resin...... for a more uniform color without the white and marbly look
