At 1:22 in this video traveling on 4th street on the right is LeBeaus Grocery store at the corner of Canal avenue. I used to live across the Postenkill from that store on Ida Street. Yes there are a lot of memories in this video and it's amazing how little has changed in 70 years!
Born in Troy, Samaritan Hospital, lived on 2nd, went to Haskell, understand that’s now apartments? Lived up in Carroll Hill/Griswold Heights too. Some rough places and times for sure. Left in 76 and only go back occasionally to see family and friends. Also lived out in some of the better spots, Brunswick, good old Miami Beach Estates when it was first developed, lots of memories!
I was born in 1944 and lived in South Troy until I moved away in 1965 and while the city in in disrepair there is a lot to remind me of my youth. Thanks for the drive through!
Left Troy back in '84 but have always felt like I could move back and resume my life with family and friends. It will never happen but Troy will always have a place in my heart and mind.
This area seems to project kind of an old town vibe. Certainly not upscale, but gritty and very real. I don' mean that to sound harsh, that kind of aura holds a certain fascination and appeal for me.
I grew up at 4th and Jefferson. My buddy got some video of a 13year old kid shooting his garage door with a pistol a few months ago. They found a body there this year. Other than that it's been pretty quiet.
I am working on a full version! I am re organizing my video footage it may be a bit but I did recently post some new footage of Troy on my videos page. let me know if you need the link
Oh yes, I remember going to School 12. Had to fight my way home and to school. The year was 1958. My parents lived on welfare checks and surplus food. Now live in Houston Tx. I do not miss St Joseph Home for boys or being Irish poor.

Used to live in South Troy back in the’80-90s…so much has certainly changed since then,as well as the whole city itself…
On the left hand side of this intersection was a bar where I got served a beer when I was 13 years old playing darts!

I used to go there from Albany to meet friends of mine in RPI. 30 years ago. Time's fly. Thank you to let bring my memories!
Hey! for sure, glad you enjoyed and we have other RPI videos, and will be doing a walking video very soon so stay tuned 🥂
My old neighborhood! Still looks the same as in the 1950's
I used to live just before the school bus took the right off 4th. It was a nice place... Key word "was".

This place is definitely something else, I had great times here and a few bad ones also. There's the good the bad and the ugly def in Troy lol
Wow on the right was the soda company!
Maybe add subtitles so we can know what street you’re on and what the cross streets are?
Shoot these vids in the summer makes everything better
Manorys where we had coffee and english muffin before going to Troy High each day!
