Changing the planting angle really helped this little one out! You inspired me yet again, Mr. Ian. I just acquired a small variegated hedera. There are 4-5 twigs in there. I’m going to seperate them and grow them out. It’ll be nice being a couple years behind you each step of the way! I dig what you’re doing, brother.
Cheers Darren, you need to check out that Croatian dude on here, or where ever he is from, 'Sandev Bonsai'. If you think my ivy is inspirational his will blow your mind. probably the best you'll ever see. ever.
@@BackGardenBonsai yea my is from some big box store long time ago. My is too soft, it has not done hard time in the wild and I think it might actually die outside lol
i know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Kamryn Jimmy thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Sweet. How does it respond to pruning? Does it bifurcate at pruning points? I dug up a Boston ivy from my yard last year but have no idea what to do with it.
Cheers. it has alternative leaves. so where you cut back, the leaf below will bud a new shoot and 99% of the time the next leaf down on the other side should also send a shoot. so you get your two shoots that way, if that makes sense? maybe i should video that this year lol. ive no idea if bostons are the same, but i know they look equally as cool
@@BackGardenBonsai that makes total sense. It's not true bifurcation but you get your ramification. Who knows what the Boston's do, I didn't bother to prune it. We shall see. The leaves are way bigger unfortunately.

cheers. you should try and fuse the lot of them together. Ivy is slow to thicken, so that could speed you up a bit!
I like the crazy grow look, and it's the best way to thicken up the trunk. Good work!
cheers. the crazy look is always needed in the early days, it just lucky that this one kind of suits it :)
I would never have considered ivy but I’m thinking about giving them a go thanks for the inspiration. It’s a nice little tree

@@BackGardenBonsai oof that’s a beast!
I love how crazy you let it go!!! Im a huge fan of ivy. Nice video as always my friend. 😎🍺🍺
Cheers. sometimes you gotta go crazy lol
This is definitely a different specie than the one I have. The branch/vine growth looks much different and it looks thicker. Looking good Ian!
Im sure yours is the same? i cant remember. This is just a bit older and removed from the wild, lol, so it maybe looks a bit more rough.

lol, im sure it will toughen up with time
Very good friend!!
Cheers :)
Wow, that is really cool!
Cheers :)
Wow sangat mengispirasi
:) thanks
Nice! I was hoping for a repot at the end of the video to see if any new roots developped in the right places. Looking forward for the next one!
Cheers. Too early for repottin yet, but dont worry these things are pretty much weeds. the roots will be there and there will be loads of them :)
@@BackGardenBonsai Not worrying, just very curious. :)

i'm sure they will come down in size after a bit of abusive persuasion
