When I bought my variegated ivy the thought occurred to me that the leaves would look great on a tree, but it’s an ivy so I’ll just plant it with my dracaena tree to grow on. I was just looking for a video to figure out the care and stumbled upon this video. I’m absolutely inspired, and my Bonsai Ivy journey will now begin! Thanks so much for sharing ✌🏼❤️🪴🧘🏼♀️
Couldn't help breaking out in a laugh when you really cut a big section out. We've all been there friend. Viewing this vid from Wisconsin USA. We also have this ivy at my Florida hse. Gonna try it.
Amazing!!!!!!!! Everyone says it is easy to grow Ivy but i kept on killing them, failed more than three pots😭 yet you made bonsai out of Ivy!!! Incredible!!I 😍👍🏼
Man this is the perfect indoor bonsai, way better than ficus’ imo. I have an English Ivy and just picked up a nice Grape Ivy. I can only hope to get them to this point, wondering if it’ll be quicker if I plant them in the garden for a few years? Maybe shave off like a year or two of time?
@@HouseplantHacks Sounds good. Inside wise, do you plant in clay/ceramic pots only? Or is that harder plastic stuff fine, I can’t remember the name, maybe it’s just plastic 😅 but it’s a fancier plastic it seems
@@Icefy_YT the plastic pots will probably be better inside because the terracotta pots will draw moisture out if the soil and so inside in a dryer environment those will make a bigger effect on drying the plant out.
Could you give some info on how you care for it? Is it outside all year? Do you fertilize it? How much sun? Could you keep it indoors with grow light or window?
My Ivy stays outside all year round, a small amount of bonsai fertilizer and partial sun/shade. I wouldn't advise keeping in inside, you might be able to keep it alive but I doubt it will thrive in the low humidity environment.
great post -it never occurred to me one could create a bonsai with ivy - but a question - is your specimen an English Ivy (Hedera Helix) or a wax ivy (senecio macroglossus) - I always have trouble telling them apart in pictures
Mr. Mouse? Oh hi! You see that bonsai Andy's working on? Yep. I have a topiary in my yard when it finally fills out it'll have an ivy body. Wow. I knew Andy's bonsai looked familiar, look, it looks just like the tree on this episode of The Big Valley. Oh wow, it does, and I think I can just make out Nick and Heath camping out underneath it. Can we go over and say hello? I suppose so. Wait! Wait! Now I remember this episode it's the one with the rabid wolf! Run! Run! 🐀(((((((( Wait for me! 🏃((((((((( 🐺

Definitely, planting in the garden for a few years will speed things up for sure.

I have no idea to be honest, I found the seedling just growing in the garden.
