This game came out back when I was 17 years old. I remember having this reserved for months at GameStop back in late 2004 or early 2005. Being such a big MK fan and these games taking place during the MK1 & MK2 eras really had me excited and when this came out I put as many hours into this as much as I could. Great moments in gaming!
One of the reasons why this game is so beloved because it shows the characters displaying the full potential of their skills and abilities while in open world and traveling to other dimensions. Really great features
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge surprised everyone including me. It can still be done but that was done by diehard TMNT fans. Not saying NRS couldn't do it but they kinda been lacking inspiration just look at MK1. I've seen better skin mods from modders than the legit NRS team. Ed himself pretty much said they want to but I'm sure WB won't allow them so it remains MKSM is the best spin off for MK until further notice.

2005 is a bit late to be ahead of its time. It launched in the same year as "Jade Empire" and "God of War" or even games like "Genji: Dawn of the Samurai". Though It truly was a really good game in the Mortal Kombat universe.

@@erikbihari3625 when I was see this on video game. I was so amazed. Yes I am fan of nut punch of johnny Cage but not that. Becoz of graphics and also there's mission coz I am fans of that genre game.
I played and unlocked everything in this game. I remember being disappointed in the direction the game took for the PS2 era with the 3D fighting and not really having it figured out yet. I still cared about the original story, then Shaolin Monks came out and basically rehashed the story with very good cgi and in-game animations. One of the last games with minimal menu and loading bloat.
I would be a very happy gamer if WB finally do something and release a remake of Shaolin Monks. Those fckers bought all of Midway's IP like The Suffering but they just keep releasing main figthing MK title and hanging Ed Boon and NRS by the balls in the fighting mines of MK and Injustice 😂
I don't think they can make a remaster, simply the company was closed in 2010 and MKSM now is more like an abandonware it's too hard to buy the game's rights if it wasn't impossible.

Shaolin Monks definitely had a Mortal Kombat 2 vibe going for it. They even used the font from MK2 in the win titles.

the game had a lot of loading screens tho, everywhere you go is a room, and every room needs to load
