We begin this week's van life vlog right where we left you last time: on Achill Island! Eamon stopped us here to try his hand at kiteboarding again and boy oh boy do we have an adventure (think 2 hour trek through a marsh 😆). One of the reasons we live in a van is to be able to stay somewhere for as long or as little as we'd like so this week we spend extra time parked on Achill Island -- kiteboarding, enjoying our neighbour's company and just SLOWING down! But, it didn't take long for us to get itchy feet so we continue north towards Slieve League Cliffs and the Giant's Causeway!

After successfully shipping our van to England from Canada & enjoying our last week in Wales we decided to ferry over to Dublin, Ireland! In last week's van life vlog we explore the city of Dublin (Trinity College, Temple Bar, etc), enjoy the city of Cork and fall in love with the seaside town of Greystones to meet the Happy Pear. We then check out the Cliffs of Moher and the city of Galway! On our way north along the Wild Atlantic Way we stopped at a wonderful island which is where today's van life vlog picks up!

@Eamon ALWAYS wear Dive Shoes. They have an incredible bottom for kiteboarding AND when you get out, you automatically have decent soles for your feet so nothing will hurt them :-) I LOVE mine :-)
That's a great idea! We saw a few kiters with them on Achill Island and I'm sure after Eamon's little adventure he was feeling rather jealous ;)

Republic of Ireland isn't in the UK. Only 6 counties in the north are! Apart from that, absolutely loved the video!

@@iheartsleepyd because much of the water like than in ireland is bog and peat, its like quicksand in a way, you gwt stuck and possibly pulled down, many ppl in ireland have suffered this death.

When I watch these videos, rather it's where you all are now, or when you were down in Mexico, I am constantly wondering what the temperature outside is. For example; in this video when Eamon is kiteboarding I was wondering if the water was freezing because it was cold outside, or was it warmer than it looked?
I'm not sure there is a good way to insert that kind of information into the video, but surely I cant be the only viewer wondering!?

So far this has been one of my favorite episodes! Ireland is my home homeland and I hope to one day visit as well. You two inspire me so much!! I loved the rawness of Eamon getting stranded and the plant life he had to trench through, all the while saying how much he loves kite boarding, lol...and Bec missing him so, but being humbled that there was nothing she could do. I loved the German couple you bonded with as well, so sweet!! All the beautiful views of Irelands coastlines!!! Thank you!

Millions of Irish have died due to genocide and oppression by the British. Thousands of brave Irish men and women have fought for our independence. We are an independent country with no relation to the UK. You would expect educated Canadian’s who BOTH have Irish ancestry with the surnames of Fitzgerald and Moroney to know this.

Ireland is NOT in the UK. We are a republic and it's a historically a very very touchy subject to refer to an Irish person as British.

You should have checked the weather at least before Kitesurfing it seems dangerous to just go in an unknown lake. Adventure and being careless is one thing being smart and careful is another
So excited you're in scotland! Best castles are Inveraray or Stirling. So excited to see where you go, sad I'm not in Scotland rn too. Also, a day trip to the Isle of Rum, gorgeous red deer and highland cows.

Bec - I know exactly how you feel when you see your man stranded while Kiteboarding and you're on the shore and there's nothing you can do. I've had many emotional/stressful hours waiting for my hubby to swim/walk/hitch back. Our new rule is he doesn't go out kiteboarding unless we have a jetski I can drive to rescue him.
Eamon - you aren't the worst kiteboarder... what happened to you, is common and par for the course. I can't tell you how many times we've gone out, wind is perfect, and an hour in, everything dies and we're stranded! Self Rescue is the most valuable skill you will learn when it comes to kiteboarding. Keep up the efforts and we love seeing your adventure and stopping for a few days when you see a kite-er. That's the way to vacation!

In southern Brazil we have this custom of barbecuing the ground, my father-in-law would dig a hole in the ground and put the wood or charcoal inside, like a bonfire, and at the top he puts the grill, just the part that looks like an "iron net" i don't know the name, maybe you can just buy this part to make a portable grill ... its more work overall but i think that would solve your problem with van space
