I think I was at the No Nukes show at Madison Square Garden, NYC where that was performed. It was exciting because they were no longer a couple then.........that's if it was the same show. 😋
I have been on the James Taylor band wagon since the mid late 70s and there are so many song to recommend but just for fun you need to listen to Traffic Jam.
You might also like "Sweet Baby James," which he wrote for his infant nephew on the way to meet him for the first time. The baby was named after him. It's such a lovely song, like a cowboy lullaby.
Yes! Sweet Baby James! My mom used to play that song on her guitar and sing to us when we were little. My sister and I used to call it "Mom's cowboy song."
James Taylor used to be married to Carly Simon who you have reacted to. CaroleKing wrote this song in answer to Taylors song, "Fire and Rain" the lyric, "Ive seen lonely times when I could not find a friend". Joni Mitchell is singing backup.
“You Can Close Your Eyes” A duet James Taylor sung with his then wife Carly Simon. I used to sing this to my kids every night as they fell asleep. Talk about beautiful.
This song was written by Carole King. Released by her as well. Please check out Carole's music. I remember when her album Tapestry was a must have. ❤️🎶
Carolina on my Mind, Shower the People, Fire and Rain. These are other great JT songs. They played this particular song at my son's funeral because he was always there for his friends if they needed him, be it giving them a place to sleep, food, a ride, if they just needed to talk or even bailing one or 2 out of jail in their younger, wilder days! Some of his friends suggested this song for his funeral service as their way of honoring his friendship to them, and 2 of his best buds were pall bearers. But this song doesn't make me sad, just fills me with warm memories of Daniel's genuine love and concern for his friends and how he always wanted to help them any way he could.
JT yesss!!! Carole King wrote this. You should listen to her version too! So many to choose from. Quite the lyricist and that voice. Fire and Rain Shower the People Country Roads Carolina Are also a must
This song's writer, Carole King, won the Grammy for song of the year at the 1972 awards show. Her version is on her amazing 1971 album "Tapestry," which won album of the year. He won the Grammy for best male pop vocal. You can find clips of James singing "You've Got a Friend" with Carole on piano back in the '70s, and of the two of them singing it together as a duet in the 2000s.
I heard Carole king’s version in 1971. I was only 9, it blow me away. It’s an amazing song about friendship, and I hope I’ve been like that too my friends.
I saw him live in Dublin in 1970s. When he walked out on stage, he was so unassuming that we all thought he was the sound man, setting up the stool and the mic! Typically Irish, we were chatting away, and he just sat there, smiling, until our brains kicked in, -- then we started cheering and clapping like lunatics, and he could hardly stop laughing. Absolutely no ego or arrogance, Just a classic wordsmith and musician ready to share when we were. Finally, he said "Hi everyone, I'm James Taylor, and I'd like to sing some songs for you all"!!! An incredible evening with a true legend. I'll never forget it.
He toured with Carol King not long ago.. So many hit songs between the two of them it’s unbelievable. My favorite James Taylor is Fire and Rain. Hope you react to that one next!
YES, James Taylor is so awesome. Love all of his music. Just finished the audible book of his called Break Shot My First 21 Years. Another great song Fire & Rain about the suicide of Suzanne Schnerr, a childhood friend, and his experiences with drug addiction and fame. Great audible. It's free right now to anyone who listens.
James Taylor will never grow old because of his voice and lovely lyrics, there are sooo many songs you should take a listen to. Steam Roller, Fire and Rain, Sweet Baby James, Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight, Shower The People, Something in the Way She Moves..
He’s very talented. I love, “Her Town Too” and “Fire and Rain”. You would 🧡 “Devoted to You” a duet with his ex Carly Simon. They made great music together.
You can't go wrong with any James Taylor song. Carolina on my mind. Shower the people. Fire and Rain. And so many more. I'm so looking forward to you reacting to more of his songs. He is a true artist
Carole King wrote this for her great Tapestry album, but gave it to her best friend, James to release as a single. Also on the album is Natural Woman, which she gave to Aretha Franklin. One of the classic albums.
These songs you need to react to ,Fire and Rain, Mexico,Something in the Way She Moves,Shower ThePeople,How sweet it is,Carolina in My Mind,Secret o’ Life,Our Town, Handy Man, And keep going that is how great he is!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️

I literally grew up with this amazing man's music. Showing my age, but he's still out there, still touring, still exploding hearts. Thank you for this.
One of my best memories of working with kids was when my coworker taught this song to my unit on my night off, & they serenaded me with it when I came back the following day. To me, James Taylor is road trip, lazy weekend, singing along, just slowing down for a bit music. Hard (if not impossible) to go wrong with this guy. Another great reaction, man. Cheers!
My father liked James Taylor .He was killed one morning riding a bicycle to work. Died at the scene-.29 years ago. Half my life has passed without him .RIP. Dad.
He appeared on the BBC series 'Transatlantic Sessions' a few times, and absolutely killed it! TS was a series of music shows, combining the best of UK & USA roots & folk music on BBC4, & produced some amazing collaborations. You can find them all on UA-cam. Your ears will thank you, I promise!

He is so smooooth... and until now I never paid attention to the subtle but tight harmonies at places too. Just a very nice, relaxed-type of feel-good song. I’ve had this song pop in my mind many many times over the years. It stays with you, and that’s a good thing.
I have been listening to James Taylor since 68 this song came was written by Carol King they both recorded it separately but did it as a duet live many times on tour together and on tv a few times it was a big hit for both of them
