This takes me back...I remember hearing this a lot as a kid in the late 70's. My parents would always have the easy listening station playing in family car and this was a staple back then.
Heard this gorgeous song at the beach this afternoon amid Jimmy Buffet remembrance songs. It took me awhile to remember Stephen Bishop -- such a songwriting talent!
One of my favourite songs my mother would play in the car when we'd cruising around . Be almost 2 years since she passed away thank you so much for showing me this song such beautiful lyrics ❤️
Don't know why, this is my favorite song ever. I am 52 years old, I heard it the first time when I was in High School. I married when I was 18 and my husband, Dave died when I was forty. This is not a song that is very popular. But, when I am having a rough time in life it starts playing on my 70s station. He lets me know he is watching over me and things will be okay.
I know the world has to move on & change, but if a beautiful song like On & On could somehow just keep playing on the radio every day, the world would be a much better place.❤

+John Rotella Bishop didn't write this from personal experience. He stated: "I write from titles usually. I was walking down to the corner grocery store in Silverlake where I was living at the time and I came up with the idea of 'On and On.' My landlady had a lot of exotic flowers all around the house and I wanted to write something from somewhere else like Jamaica."
so true - me too!

Yes it is one of my favorite
Listening to his voice is like honey to my ears.
Love that description!
A real human that can sing and play an instrument and write great music. Where have they gone? Hearing this again brings so many happy memories and days that are gone for good!
What a beautiful, beautiful song.
beautiful beautiful decade
Stephen Bishop never got his due for this song. I'm surprised a dude like Jimmy Buffett or Kenny Chesney hasn't covered "On and On" as of yet. It's a classic love-beach genre tune that is right in their musical sweet spot! Awesome song; have always loved it!
Hey Potch, someone did i the late 70s an i am sure it was Kenny Rankin.
@@woofersagainstviolence5349 Stephen will tell you Kenny Rankin's version of ON AND ON was best. If you've not heard it, you're in for a treat. Thanks Potch, and thanks Woofers. Coincidentally, celebrated elsewhere this day elsewhere [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central " p.39
@@MarkBlackburnWPG Hey Mark, 😊 Old is gold an we 70's Hippies got the best 2 decades on this planet; that will ever be!! It was all Peace, love, nature and sharing between guys an Gals.
Actually Kenny Rankins version is what I was privileged to cruise to. It was only later, that I learned that Stephen Bishop was the author. Both are great, but the guy who had it coming out of his creative being; just has to recognised. Peace my friend. 👌👌
The lyrics are just so poetic......the ultimate 'break up but be optimistic' love song! Love this tune.....it is timeless!
What a Great Song by this Singer, Stephen Bishop!☺👍
Long time ago, more then 30 years back, Stephen Bishop whas here in holland, i whas the driver of him with a limousine.
I get a LP from him still i have.
Very nice man so friendly and good we have also eat in a restaurant on 1 table with him.
What a perfect song! I used to love it when I was little..
Great song. Brings back good memories.
This takes me back...I remember hearing this a lot as a kid in the late 70's. My parents would always have the easy listening station playing in family car and this was a staple back then.
+GregParkin I also remember this and a lot of awesome music from my childhood, takes me back to a simpler time, to be young again huh?
permanent playlist tune :)
On the radio all the time in the late 1970's.
This was my mom’s favorite song. Brings back so many memories
"On and On", "Baker Street" and "Biggest Part of Me' are my absolute FAVs of all time.
Awesome choices
Heard this gorgeous song at the beach this afternoon amid Jimmy Buffet remembrance songs. It took me awhile to remember Stephen Bishop -- such a songwriting talent!
At the beach? Damn, where on the planet do you live? Lol
Who needs a recording studio. Fantastic live! Still got the 45.
I've loved this song since the first time I heard it. Beautiful ❤❤❤❤
One of my favourite songs my mother would play in the car when we'd cruising around . Be almost 2 years since she passed away thank you so much for showing me this song such beautiful lyrics ❤️
Holy shit. I forgot about this song....don't know how I got here. Been at least 35 years, too much.....memory overload. thank you uploader
In the song he says "puts on Sinatra and starts to cry" without realizing that people put THIS song and start to cry even in 2021. Classic music!
Beautiful music 🎶
And I smile when I feel like dying....story of my life. This song really hits home.
You know a true classic/legend never gets old.
im a DREW too.
This isn't his only hit. Everything he touches turns to gold.
God, I love this love!
I love his bits of comedy and irony in his songs. Awesome stuff.
I know the world has to move on & change, but if a beautiful song like On & On could somehow just keep playing on the radio every day, the world would be a much better place.❤
nossa! há quanto tempo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! adorei ouvir e recordar meus velhos batles e amores.
Parabéns pela jóia rara
poste mais relíquias tá?
abs da Cris
I was so glad to see 70's music go How much love can one person take?
"Takes a ladder, steals the stars from the sky, puts on Sinatra and starts to cry." Love it and he didn`t even know me when I was feeling just like this about a girl in college. Classic !!!
They're really brilliant lyrics...great song!...it was a great time to be 17 in '77. !! :)
Love, Love, Love.....Thank you for your awesom music and great memories in my life...🥰
Authentic talent! No autotune here.
What is not lost can definitely be found. A musical friend to cholera patients everywhere.
I never realized how cute he is..
I've liked this song!! Forgot all about it
He sure was.
Hahaha, that's quite possible! :D
***** Move on, friend. You're barking up the wrong tree. That's it. Bye bye. :)
Good old days of beautiful lyrics and melody. Takes me back Thanks
