    I just finished doing an RGH 1.2 on a Falcon using this guide! I also want to add that because you did the wiring for the glitch chip out of order I got mixed up and soldered the wires incorrectly the first time, so if you ever do another tutorial like this one I would definitely recommend showing those in order haha. Otherwise a great guide! Thanks for the help!

    Hey! Just letting you know it might be a good idea to do an updated video since the Coolrunner Rev C clones are drying up, but the X360ACE v3 is still super common, and technically works a bit better for RGH 1.2 with support for adaptive timing. Also the drivers for the JR Programmer v2 have been updated and signed so you don't have to deal with disabling driver signature enforcement anymore!

    Thanks Mr Mario. Successfully modded a Falcon that I found in a skip/dumpster in the rain. DVD drive was faulty but I don't need it after fitting a hard drive. Gave the case a good scrub (inside was pretty clean) and repasted the heatsinks. It runs great and will get a new lease of life! Boot times were slow until I bridged the CAP on the Coolrunner and now it's almost instant😄

    Great tutorial! I would add some precisions around 45:40 if you're using a Jr Programmer: the NAND dump did not work for me at all. I had to do these steps in this precise order:
    1. Close JRunner and disconnect the USB cable from your computer
    2. Make sure everything is connected as shown in the video, switches on the programmer in the right positions.
    3. Plug in the USB cable and wait 5 seconds
    4. Open JRunner and press Read NAND
    It worked on the first try using this sequence. With a JR Programmer, you cant keep JRunner open the whole time.

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  Рік тому +2

      I keep J-Runner running the entire time, more sounds like a J-R Programmer issue there. If you have one around, sure, but that's a good example as to why I don't recommend the older flashers anymore. xFlasher360 and PicoFlasher are fantastic.

    I have done two jasper rgh3 and both has been working fine for months. Boot time is a few seconds, not instant like on slims but otherwise perfecly fine once glitched. I wonder if the people that has issues with rgh3 on falcon and jasper are not using a 22K Ohm resistor and a 1N4148 Diode as recommended...

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  2 роки тому +5

      That's the exact result I've had with my Falcon, it works fine for me but still isn't recommended as a solid solution due to the Phat RGH3 implementation being in beta and unstable. I believe I shared some information about it in this video, but I go into more detail in my upcoming RGH3 Phat video.

      @@MrMario2011 would be interesting with details in regards to why it would be unstable once glitched and also an explanation/theory of why it would stop working for some after x amount of time (are we sure that the soldering is solid in those cases?). Wouldn't it be simple to install pin headers in those holes? in case later on need to use them again also less hassle soldering wires then removing.
    Last time I did one of these XB was when Coolrunner had only just been released I should update mine.

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  2 роки тому

      Up to you, really. There's nothing wrong with installing a pinheader, but no one really does because it's pretty rare the average user has to reflash their NAND directly to the console like this after the modification has been done. Pinheaders were used for the original Xbox due to modchips cleanly being installed to and connecting to the LPC debug port, but that's not needed for the Xbox 360.

      Get a good Soldering station or iron, I suggest at least 50w, 90w or higher would be even better. And get some good flux, bad flux can make you want to never solder again. Stirri or AmTech are the best and made by the same company I believe. Chipquick is decent stuff too, I use it and have had good results.

    I have a Jasper (BB I believe(has 512mb internal), I have a Jr-programmer v2, and an Ace v3. I have no experience with soldering, so I have yet to give it a go.
    I also have a Trinity and a Corona. What are your suggestions as far as the easiest mod project for a beginner to accomplish with everything mentioned above to use?
    Would RGH3 on Trinity work with the wires from the nand reader? I've read that I would not need either of the chips to do so but also part of me is saying I should use the Jasper as practice and then just 3.0 the trinity.
    Anything helps and I appreciate your feedback in advance!

    I recently bought myself one of those "pinecil" soldering irons to do this with the smallest tip available, so hopefully that should make it a little easier. I've since had a go with it and I can tell you it's 99x better than the $10 amazon iron I had. Solder instantly flows - love it. Some thinner solder seems to help also.

    Good installation. The best solution for Phat Xbox.
    But CPU RST is better to get from below. PLL it is best to solder the cable from the other side. If you don't have any disturbing components in the way. Xclamp for that has to go down there.
    Better get ground at the AV port. Also, one should keep 3.3v cables away from the others. Since this can lead to glitch problems. It is best to fix it with a bit of hot glue. Thanks for the video. And thanks for the video with the flashing of the drives :) I do that more often now

      We all have our own ways of doing it! CPU_RST alt point I used can actually be better and has been recommended for stubborn consoles in the past, but it can be harder to solder to due to it being so small.

      Could be related to wire routing or soldering quality, also make sure all the points you soldered to from the chip to the motherboard are accurate. Make sure you're also building your NAND properly as a Glitch2 image.

      Reflash stock NAND, desolder 3v3 from the chip or board, see if it boots stock successfully.
      If so, resolder the chip, the RGH 1.2 timings should allow stock to boot. If there's an issue, it could be wiring. You could also try to rewrite ECC after this.

    Hello! Sorry for searching help on such an old video, but I really need to clarify some things. Many people say that using an ace v3 as a glitch chip for a phat console is a bad decision, but I have already ordered one of Aliexpress. It's the only chip I can buy, I haven't found any matrix or coolrunners, and no other shops ship to Romania. Is it ok and will my Xbox last? I originally planned to RGH3 my Jasper, but I'm worried about longevity.

Idk if it's just the cheap wires from the cool runner kit or what but that was giving me trouble and possibly scotch tape can bridge connections. Also my pll connection is in a glob of solder bridging with the black resistor on the bottom lol I have no idea how it's working. I've had way better solder joints to pll but none em were working so just keep at it! I respositions the wire to under the cooler brackets instead of the wrap around mr mario shows. Seems slightly easier bc there isn't a pad u can bridge with but having that wire next to the hot brackets could be risky.

The Ace requires 5V *and* requires you to do some modifications and add a 22K Ohm resistor to PLL (kind of like you have to do with RGH 3 on phats).

      Make sure stock NAND is flashed over, desolder power from the CoolRunner and boot up the console. If it still boots stock NAND successfully, you would probably have to continue on with the top side CLK point which you can look up, it's near the ANA chip but it is harder to solder to.

      @@8bitnation419 Some Jaspers also support JTAG (especially if they came with blades out of the box and were never updated), but a lot of them don't (especially the later "V2/Tonasket" variants).

    OK.If i buy new NAND memory and I installed it on my Xbox 360 (Falcon). It's empty. What specific files should I upload there and where can I get them? Xell (rgh1.2). What are their names?

      idk if my comment is getting flagged as spam or what. Watch a vid in spanish called _RECUPERA CUALQUIER XBOX 360 + NAND DONADA AUTOMATICA_ Which means RECOVER ANY XBOX 360 + DONATED NANDS AUTOMATIC. Its a video about recovering/making a new nand, but you would need to ENABLE ENGLISH CAPTIONS to follow through. Its a video on how to CREATE a NAND from scratch.

      @scipanovgenadij7732 Check the vids description box also, it has the files to work with. I believe it can help you recover your 360. I tried replying on another vid you posted your issue, but my comment was not going through for some reason idk! Good luck!
