How do you open video tab, at one time it was working now it's not. They send me another one and it still does not work on the Echo 8. However it works on the Echo 5
My brother just had a stroke and lost most of his sight. He's coming home from the hospital in a week and I've been worried about how he's going to make phone calls, play music, get the news, etc., and a nurse recommended the Echo Show. I just found a good deal on one and ordered it so I'll have it when he gets home. I hope it works for him.
I got echo show eight just yesterday, after watching this video A few days prior and at first show and tail didn’t work, but I was able to get it to work by calling customer service and they told me my echo show eight needed an update. After the update show and tell worked!
Hello, how did you get the clock larger? The Echo 8 Show doesn’t have the large clock like the Echo Show 5, and the magnifier is only active until you ask it to something different, then the magnification goes away, and the clock is small again.
received my echo show 8 today. had to do the software update for the show for the show and tell feature to work. everything was working after that. you may need to call the amazon support to help if you need it. yep.
I have a smaller version of this, I’ve heard that you can change alexa’s name to “computer” so you can say things like “Computer, Lights” or other TNG things. Loved the video, I’m still learning what it can do.
Well thank you Sam!! @Hassan Alijah thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi great vid as a blind tech lover myself i thinks it’s interesting to see what is on the market of Technological gadgets for us vip’s have you considered making a video about accessability on the nest hub
Sam, thanks for the great review of the Echo Show. We have the Echo Show 5. We are impressed with the audio quality which really fills the room with almost, "Bose" quality. The Show can locate and play most radio stations, in real time. We use it to play AM radio, since our AM radio receiver produces a terrible buzz. However, when we connect a bluetooth adapter to the Show, and then disconnect the bluetooth, audio quality in the Show looses it's fidelity, very flat sounding. Unplugging, then replugging returns the show to full fidelity. Keep up the great work Sam. Take care, be safe. Bob
That’s very interesting about how the sound changes. Haven’t experienced that myself. You are correct though, in general, the sound quality is very impressive.
got me a show5 for my study room, a company came out with a battery pack that makes the show5 portable. it's called the ggmm es5. came out this past September. gives you up to 10 to 12 hours of being battery powered. check it out on amazon and youtube. highly recommend also. only works for the show5 and not the show8 or show10. yep.
Hi Sam, thanks for your channel! I am looking to buy an Echo Show mainly for the "Show and Tell" Skill to help a family member identify his different eye drops and medication. Which version of the Echo is best? I am currently considering the Echo Show 2nd Generation because it has 5MP camera vs the newer Echo Shows (Show 5 and Show 8 have 1MP Camera only). May I have your thoughts please?
The one I featured in the video is the only one I have tested so I can’t say for sure. Traditionally, the more megapixels, the better the image.. I would just make sure that it supports the show and tail feature. I’ve heard that some do not. Those are probably older versions but better safe than sorry.
Depending on where you live, there’s a company called on vision America. You have to get them into your local pharmacy and your pharmacy will put stickers on your medication that will give you your medication name, prescriber information, dosage, expiration date and how many times daily prescription must be taken. The device is called ScripTalk, there is even an app for it on the App Store that is free.
@@theblindlife Thank you. Yes, i went ahead and bought the 2nd generation as it has a better camera and because I think the later Echo Shows may not have the Show and Tell skill. Thanks for your reply!
@@TreesInHydePark I looked on the website, and The website only offers it in the United States and Canada, I don’t know how much help that will be. Hopefully there is an equivalent where you live.
There is another alternative. Press on the power button, and when you hear a tone hold 2 fingers down, slightly apart, and wait for Alexa to tell you VoiceView is on. She will tell you to keep holding down 2 fingers to enable VoiceView.
Hi Sam, thank you for this video and review! I did not know that VoiceView's voice is basically Alexa! Incredible! Does anyone think that braille support will come to the Echo Show line? I know the Fires support them, but I do not want another tablet to check my email or scroll through social media! But would love to purchase an Echo Show to consume media, read, and scroll through recipes and the weather. Am also intrigued by Show and Tell because I hate having to locate my phone to identify a box or read a label
Thank you for your great review. Can you do a video where you show how to get Alexa to read from Audible? You mentioned in this video that it was the best screen reader voice, so I'd like to try it. Thanks again.
I can’t wait for my echo show to be here!! I hope one day we will be able to watch Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu on the echo show, The fire TV can do that already so why not the echo show? Thank you for the video
Nest strikes me as a better interface and high quality product but a higher price point. Amazon has been pretty aggressive on reducing prices, which I’m very sensitive to.
Hey Sam. Awesome video. I have a couple questions. One; can this echo show be paired with the echo that word echo or other echo products? Two; can the echo show read pretty much anything including let’s say a piece of mail? Thanks again Sam! I hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe. Especially Skyler I hope she’s healing well. Take care my friend. See you in the next video.
You can link echo speakers together to play music on them all at the same time. So if you have them in different rooms, it’s kind of like a music network are playing the same song. It doesn’t actually read text like that. It wouldn’t read a document or your mail. It mainly just reads a label in order to identify a product.
I haven't tried this, but you can also do video calling with someone else who has a show. I have a show 5, and to me the microphone isn't as good as my regular echo, I have to talk much louder when asking the show sometime.
I didn't realise they had different sizes. I have the smaller one. I kind of want a second one now I know they also do a large one for kitchen so I don't have to use phone or go into bedroom.
Yes, you connect to Wi-Fi during the initial set up. And it has Bluetooth which allows you to connect the echo to another external speaker, or connect your phone to the echo and use it as an external speaker.
I have a feeling Amazon might do this, and it's not even official, this is just what I'm thinking, but I have a feeling Amazon might add the Eloquence voice to the Echo show with voiceview. Now, some of you guys I know, I know some of you guys are pushing it and forcing it on Amazon and demanding that Amazon add Eloquence to the echo show after Apple did the same with their products. You can't lie, I know some of you guys totally want eloquence on literally everything that has a screen reader, especially Amazon devices. But I'd rather have Alexa read the screen than eloquence with voiceview. Now, I have no problem with Amazon adding Eloquence to their devices. It would be cool, but Eloquence just gets boring after a while sometimes. And technically, the echo show is based off of android, so Amazon could potentially add Eloquence, but I won't go crazy over it like most of you guys do! I'm not against having Eloquence on the echo show, and yes I'll check it out, but most of the time if I do use an echo show, I'll have Alexa read the screen. My point is that I would like to use Eloquence on the echo show once in a while, but I won't go crazy over it like most of you! Will Amazon ever add Eloquence to the echo show? The answer is, it's a 50-50- chance. If they do, they do. If they don't, they don't. Guys, don't force it too hard with Amazon to add Eloquence. Please! Eloquence can even drive others up the wall, and I don't want Amazon to go byebye just because they're losing customers because some blind customers forced it too hard that they add eloquence. All you Eloquence users, please please please don't attack or go after me for this comment. We should just respect each other's opinions. I respect yours, so please respect mine. That's all I have to say.
Disappointing that the links in the description do not appear to have alt tags. So reading them with voiceover on my iPhone I have no idea where all the links go.
