In this video I unbox and review the newest Echo Show 8 from Amazon this is the Echo show with 8 inch screen, it has an HD display 1 MP front camera. It works great with your Blink cameras as seen in the video with my Amazon Blink Mini camera. They also make 3rd party stands for it so it can swivel and tilt. You can also push to your other echo shows or of course you can drop in with a family member or friend. The privacy settings are great for microphone mute and camera shutter for your privacy. It sounds much better then my new echo dot 4th gen with the echo show 8's stereo speakers. I hope you have found the video super helpful. Thank you for your time and thank you for watching.

I am trying hard to sell myself on one of these, with the current black friday pricing, but jeez, its features seem to have very little actual value for me.
Same with the price right now it's not terrible but it's also nothing special
One correction and an important one, especially given our current situation. Around 8:40 you mention that the video chat feature only works if the person you're trying to talk to has an echo dot device with a screen. All the other person needs is the Alex app downloaded onto their smart phone and you can video chat with them from your device.

Nice video. I was hoping to have more on what you can do with this machine. The video was mostly if you had other devices in your house. How does it play music? What else does it do? Can I read recipes for it? I only have the one machine so this video wasn't very helpful and was misleading.
Re: the Drop In feature - you don't have to have another Echo Show to drop in. My Mom has an Echo Show 8. She's unable to answer the phone but we video chat almost every day. I use either my iPad or my Android phone and connect through my Alexa account. Only people who are programmed into her specific device can drop-in; that prevents intrusions from strangers. It's been a great way to connect during the pandemic.
@@justsayn8929 Yes, you can connect with an iPhone. I believe you download the Alexa app to your phone so you connect. You don’t have to have an Alexa device to do this.
Can you check in on your Mum without speaking to her? ie would you be able to just see she’s ok and not fallen if you turned on the app on your mobile? Or would I need to set up a separate camera inside if I needed this kind of surveillance? I also worry about home Carers and wouldn’t mind checking in now and again to make sure they are speaking to her nicely.

Hello is there a way to keep the screen stayed on ring camera view?
ECHO 8 SHOW: How to keep the screen on to what you are playing or watching, mine keeps going to the blank time screen within 1 minute?
Believe it is only Amazon stuff (not 3rd party skills) that can stay on. It means no third party can mess with your system for more than a few mins. Same reason it can't receive notifications from smart doorbell. Fingers crossed Google can be put on their trusted list!

Can this be used as video chat ? Thinking of picking up 2 of them to use for video chat to family members that lives in a diff state
The mic off emblem is enough, there's no reason for an ugly red line across the bottom of the screen except to irritate you into leaving the microphone active as much as possible.
This is a good option for a smart addition to a smart home. Amazon Echo Show 8 needs to have a NATIVE UA-cam app, not one that is loaded in the Silk browser. So that we can cast to UA-cam from iPhone to the Echo Show 8. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I had the 1st Echo Show which has been showing it's age. It's by my bed due to disabilities I am put to bed early and wouldn't be without it been trying to research the best options available but thank you as you have confirmed my opinion that it would be the best option

Echo Show 8 works great. The Mediatek chipset in it offers really good performance and ALexa has turned much more prompt in terms of its response. Something that every user wishes to see.

I've got one generation one and two generation two Echo Dots. I've just got the Echo Show 8. I prefer to have the show's screen off most times unless I'm working. But telling the Show to turn off the screen wakes the other Dot I have in my office. It's a pain in the arse.
Can you change the trigger word on one of them?
