Overanalyzing EVERY Plant in Sky City - PvZ2 Chinese Version

- I explain in detail what each plant from Sky City does from the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. Hope you learned something new! Thanks TheSpookyOne1648 for finding the costumed Lantern Cherry clip.
FAQ
- How can I play this game?
Tutorial: • [NO LONGER WORKS] How ...
- Will you cover the other plants?
Yes, I'll do every exclusive plant in the game.
- Why is the sound quality so bad?
That's how the game is, there's nothing I can do about other than replace the music.
0:12 Rotobaga
1:26 Cycloque
5:15 Ampthurium
7:48 Lantern Cherry
10:09 Saucer Squash
13:06 Board Beans
15:58 Aspiragus
18:58 Spinnaple
Some clarifications:
- Rotobaga has a costume I forgot to mention, with it, when fed plant food, she will now shoot a large number of large pink rutabagas that deal double damage.
- At level 3, Ampthurium has a 16% chance to shoot the bigger projectile, not 18%.
Cool
So, what replaced Rotobaga in frostbite caves?
What world are you doing next?
Next up is Steam Ages.
@@flagzombie I know that fanilla is in the steam ages
To be honest, after reading the comments on these videos and finding out what happened to pvz2c after sky city, it is honestly a little sad for what happened to the plants after these two worlds just becoming "counter this".
What happened tho? I’m confused
@@lostperson_yt5634 the later worlds introduce zombies that need at least one specific counter to make them harmless. it's really dumb
@@lostperson_yt5634 while the guy above is right, the thing I was talking of was supposely after Sky City, the game was put in control of a different company, which did a much worse job than the old one. Im not sure if this is real or not, but it is highly plausible as there isnt really a reason that the game went from these two worlds to the rushed messes that followed.
@@D-S-G. *cough* *cough* steam ages *COUUUUGGGHH-*

I like how you can see that the Chinese version had a lot of effort put into it, but is still very much broken with plants that have a lot of glitches.
Well, for most of them
I really don't think it looks like it has any more effort put into than the English version, I'm pretty sure there are english exclusive plants and at least in the english version the game is properly ironed out, it doesn't have silly errors like when they forget about jester and excavator zombie every time they add any new projectiles

BECAUSE ITS THEIR ONLY PVZ GAME!

Where?
I think all, except Ampthurium, have the ability to fly. Which is kind of the reason why they were made specifically for Sky City, but can also work in Big Wave Beach since you don't need Lily Pads.

4:56 Level 2 Cycloque gains “Fierce Wind” which I think either instantly one shots Level 1 zombies in Sky City or stuns them for longer outside of it. Most likely the first option.
Level 3 she gains “Storm” which does the same thing but affects Level 2 zombies.
I don’t think it worth to waste 150000 Coins on just upgrade her to Level 3… Because she just actually got deal more damages in Sky city.
After you beat Zomboss in Sky city. Why would you still go back to play the hardest addition world?

Best part about the Aspiragus (which I always called asparagunner) is that you can get it (and possibly the costume but I might be wrong about that) from star rewards you get for clearing enough levels. Every world besides Egypt has 2 versions of the same level which usually just contain higher level zombies and you get a star for normal and a star for the harder version. The game gives you up to level 3 of it and when spammed can be pretty good, in my opinion, for a non-premium plant
It's especially helpful for a level in Ancient City where they strip away the top and bottom rows, similar to the tutorial in PvZ1 and PvZ2 international
The plants in these versions are quite adorable actually :D

If you have seen my comment from the previous video, i'm continuing with which mint family would I think these plants belong if they were in international:
Cycloque: Contain-mint
Ampthurium: Fila-mint
Lantern Cherry: Contain-mint (tool plant)
Saucer Squash: Contain-mint
Board Beans: Appease-mint/Arma-mint
Aspiragus: Appease-mint/Arma-mint
Spinapple: Reinforce-mint
Lantern Cherry must be in Contain-mint famlily because it is a flying equivalent of Plantern.
@@otienat9974 that kind of makes sense, since there's plants like Magnet-shroom and Lily-pad which don't stun or slow down zombies but somehow ended in that family
@@valen3792 contain mint dosent only contain stunning plants, but plants that dosent have any actual mints, like lily pad, like where do you put this guy?so he goes in the contain mint

Find it stupid that the tornado plant doesnt keep the zombies in the lane they're pulled in without the costume, as it could give it a lot more utility by forcing zombies in a lane for better multi-kill potential, as its base form seems redundant to use outside the world you get it.
Just kill them while they’re pulled in?
keeping them in the same place could be bad if you dont ahve any piercing plant or aoe plant
@@gatex33d74 then just dont plant them there, and also you should always have at least 1 plant with multi-kill potential (when available)

Ampthurium is a perfect example of everything right and wrong with Chinese version. Very interesting mechanics and cool plants, but bad execution ruined by some stupid coding mistakes
I mean occasionally not absorbing charges is not that annoying, and could add for some extra challenge. Ampthurium is still a decent plant.
@@RGC_animation the thing is: there's no rule on how it absorbs charges, it just randomly decides to do so

Sky city is very underrated indeed, great to see it get noticed more
Yeah
I think sky city is probably the best world ever made in any pvz2, it's extremely hard tho
yeah, probably even harder than big wave beach.
Creative ideas used for this stage. Not to mention that those plants analyzed in this video can be effective also in Big Wave Beach.
Nevertheless there should be a little more work towards a few among them, but still.
I wish board beans would come to the international version; it would be such a cool appease-mint plant.
Agreed
11:16 "Dr.zomboss says its my turn to get stun"
It's weird that Ampthurium is an electric plant, but the zombies that it kills don't turn to ash like every other electric plant
Edit: The game really did waste its budget on Sky City, all of the plants here are really damn cool and they really make me wish they were in the international version (along with the whole world itself tbh)
Eh, they don't really care about that detail in most cases in PvZ2C.
@@Pitrek1113 yes
All of the Sky City plants deserve to be in PVZ international ver.
Snapdragon cannot also turn zombies into ashes
for real, i love the concept of sky city and so far it's my favorite world in pvz2 china
The sheer difference in design quality between saucer squash and cycloque gives me whiplash.
Most of plants here are actually quite interesting, but Spinapple has one problem most of plants in Chinese version have, the problem being is that he is quite situational. If his plant food also deflected other projectiles, and also affected Zombies even without projectiles, he'd be quite useful.
I think it should be like a durian, except it explodes when it dies, and releases pineapple shrapnel. It also should reflect jester projectiles.
would be funny to just turn it into the plant-side jester, for every projectile
@@eldritchskye2608 Indeed. You would be better at making PvZ2 Chinese than Chinese people responsible for their version of PvZ2.
absolutely smashing it with this series, good job
You can tell how much effort is put in these, very informative and entertaining as always, never seen some of those PF animations before. Keep forgetting Egrett Flower isn't from here; honestly very mediocre lineup with some exceptions, specially for the counter specific stuff, Spinnapple gets a whopping 45% to PF when placed? Gotta stop it from either wasting I. Frames or insta-returning pitiful projectiles, cuz that would be as OP as Pokra, can't even put metal armor on itself SMH.
I remember looking at old playthroughs of the Chinese version when I was like 8, the sky city world always looked the coolest.
I’m really sad that all these exclusive worlds aren’t in the international version, this world looks so cool and fun

@@dontshootmeimnotwhite1693 yes and I said I wish they weren’t.
20:48 Don't think I can't see that line of Flag Zombies at the top, because I can.

Can I say that Saucer Squash is an adorable plant
Why are most of these genuine and cool mechanics not in the official game??? I really love the invisible mechanic in both dark ages and flying city, why is it not in the official game???
Actually I think there's some legal issues (although nothing has stopped PopCap from adding Carrotillery in the PvZ Heroes, so idk)
The base game is already bloated with plants we don't need more. Plus Sky City doesn't fit with the time travel theme
@@blocks4857 can actually fit a bit as a mix of Far future and some kind of WW5, some say sky city was supposed to be a WW2 but friendly version
It still wouldn't fit the theme as Sky City and WW2 are different settings. And to be honest Chinese plants are redundant at best and pointless at worst in the international version and some don't fit with the pvz 2 artstyle at all
@@blocks4857 still kinda does, gotta question how we have a Far future thing and which could also make Sky city a part of Far future due to advanced technology, Sky city does also sounds like its made for an era with alot of advanced technology still fits a bit of the time travel part but a kind of early or later far future ig, for plants a couple of re-draws can work, since the international PvZ 2 artists ain’t on the chinese version.
