The main thing I have learned about Chinese pvz2 besides the obvious lack of work in all words except sky city and kongfu world is that jester’s have been drastically nerfed due to all the plants that ignore it’s reflect attack. I feel great joy about this
Heian ages is also very good.except the fact that it has so little features and has terrible plants
Basically all of PvZ china is super scuffed lmao
@@subnauticaispog7580 Sky City and Kongfu are both decent. The rest mostly just suck lol
Back then, it used to be popcap who ran the game and created Kong fu world and sky city (that's why both the world's are well made) but Talkweb bought the game and took control of the game now.
Correct me if I said something wrong🙌
@@sebastianalcones8018 precisely, talkweb seems to care much more about quantity over quality
Probably one of the main showings of the incomplete nature of this world is the fact that all of the projectile plants unlocked in this world can actually hit the Jester Zombie without it shooting back the projectile at it.
That’s a good thing jesters suck
I think the gear Is fine. The others no
Which is great, because their projectiles would easily wreak havoc much worse than other projectiles if they weren't.
Also most of these plants are weak as hell even normal peashooter is sometimes stronger
@@minus4425 Well, most of them start out as weak. Once high level, they can prove to be much more powerful than even Peashooters at max level.
Passionflower is the only plant of the bunch I am sure I want. I like Lotus Root and Berry Blaster as well, though.
Passionflower is really the only good plant, but it's like B-tier at best, probably C tier. It's gears last so little, that it realistically only hits one zombie.
Edit: Lily alchemy also is pretty good. You have to understand the power of stalling to really appreciate it tho
Berry blaster S tier in endless if levelled up to level 5 bc it has percentage poison dmg
Yet it’s still trash in any other modes
Honestly yeah passion flower would work wonders as long as the attack animation and how they function is improved
It's a shame these plants are limited to just being counters, thanks to the world being so undercooked. Their designs are pretty slick and I have a soft spot for them. It also really bugs me how inconsistent the audio quality in this game is.
*(edited)*
The game did receive a in game music audio update. I do play the game. Only the musics in the levels is consistent. But the Sound SFX arent

Flat Shroom is basically everything wrong with the plants in the Chinese version, their uses are WAY too niche, Flat Shroom in this case literally only counters the gimmick in one specific world.
In my opinion
It could have been an umbrella plant redesign, if its not in the game
Both counters lobbed projectiles, and floor based stuff like man holes and the traps in the explorer map, forgot its name
i would say hot potato but then again ice blocks also appear in pinata parties, arena, and modern day plus you can bring them to modern day at a certain level
imo this isn't a valid argument because vanilla also has 1-world plants like hot potato and perfume shroom
I dont think its per say the only issue, while yes bring only useful in one world kinda sucks, some plants in international (before modern day appeared anyways) do that too like Hot Potato and Perfume shroom. I think the main issue is the fact that they also SUCK at it too. Flat Shroom being a great example, what does it counter? Oh the steam vents, ok does it remove the Steam? No? You have to use another plant? Ok, Is it atleast good at defending the vents atleast? No? It sucks at that too? Ok. God this is like if Perfume shroom was only able to infatuate dinosaurs one tile apart and you were only able to plant it at the far left side of the map and you were like forced to use Hurrikale in order for the perfume to reach said dinos
@@somemadnessfan4763 And Hot Potato when high enough level can melt octopi.
I like how most of the plants in the Chinese version resemble something in the real world
and no it's not by how they look
The lotus root when consumed can help cleanse the respiratory system and can help prevent certain diseases in this case, it absorbs the steam from the steam age a shoots out poison
Mulberry's different shapes and colors represent different stages of mulberry purple is when its ripe and tasty white is when it's in its hard and sour form and red is also a type of mulberry (not sure how that impacted the game tho)
Lily of the alchemy is referenced to lily of the valley, a beautiful but poisonous plant (and in-game it poisons enemies)
also lotus root can grow in sludge-ey waters and cleanse them by absorbing the mud
@@cobiandiego5896 Yes
Also Passion flower is a species of Passion flower called “passiflora incarnata” as stated in the video. I’m familiar with the plant due to its dietary relationship with butterflies in the heliconiadae family where the caterpillars of said butterflies eat only the leaves of this plant. The plant is also called maypop because of its fruits popping open loudly and it’s also called simply, the purple Passion flower.
@@zachduperron8543 It is with great pleasure that I have learned something new
@@getcaughtin4klol752 My family used to own a mulberry tree
ITS SO GOOD but it stains
What I notice about the Chinese version is how inconsistent the gimmicks and abilities are. Like how the plant’s ability wouldn’t affect certain zombies for no reason.
Honestly it looks like a fan made mod with how buggy and inconsistent it is.
This is off topic but have you seen berry blaster’s almanac entry? It’s wild
@@Smith-fg1qb not really imo
@@ImpossibleOrange sorry but most fans deliver a mod that is of better quality than some of the interesting mechanics that are present in pvz2 chinese version
ok that almanac entry for the Lily lobber goes way too hard
I'm not sure how to feel about Flat-Shroom and Lotus Root both fulfilling the same role of removing smog. It's sorta like how Blover and Plantern in PVZ1 both remove fog, except the balance is even more messed up.
-Plantern and Flat-Shroom are both totally defenseless; Blover instakills flying zombies and Lotus Root can still attack
-Blover and Flat-Shroom both need to be replanted often; Plantern and Lotus Root just need to stay alive
The worst part IMO is that Blover obsoletes Plantern, but Lotus Root having a cost of 200 sun means you can't just plunk it down like the free Flat-Shroom. It's like they realized how bad Flat-Shroom is and "balanced" it by making its competition too expensive to use in the early-game.
There's this thing called the Gold Bloom
@@thepotassiumgamer2137 Yeah, there sure is
The thing is flat shroom doesn’t even remove steam just stop it from coming back for 8 more seconds, if it removed the steam it could be a neat compromise, deal with steam, lotus deals more damage or plug them up but run the risk of zombies eating em

Even before you mentioned lotus root, flat-shroom seemed useless to me... lotus root just makes them feel even more useless. Why doesn't he just permanently remove the fog? I can understand him still being able to be eaten, especially because of the transportation sewers, but not permanently removing the fog is really poor design. It's like if plantern didn't permanently clear the fog in pvz1.
I was under the impression that flat-shroom just didn't work as intended... but I feel like this is somehow even worse!
It’s bad enough that it’s completely unusable in any other world, but it’s still a terrible plant in the only world you can use it in! What were they thinking?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it was mentioned in the wiki that flat shroom was intended to prevent steam from coming out of the sewers but due to a bug it doesn't work

I use Passionfruit a lot in stages where you make your defence with about 3000-3500 as it has really good damage for only 125 sun. There's one problem I have with it though, besides the fact it targets dead zombies, it's practically earrape when used in large quantities...
I use Lily of the Alchemy for last stand
I think this plant is good for speedrunning zomboss level
Cuz if I remember correctly they're not immune to poison
Mega Gatling Pea and Draftodil would like to have a word with you.
Flat-Shroom might be the most impressively useless plant in the entire franchise. It's like Plantern in PvZ 1 where another plant does its job better, but at lease Plantern does it's job fully. The fact that Flat-Shroom doesn't remove steam is insane.
Let's not forget Gold Magnet is a thing
I have used Plantern in PvZ1 on one level. One time when I used it, it got ate by the zombie in fog.
@mandu9979 It definitely did lol. It recharged fast enough that even with Balloon Zombies spawning and you needing to deal with them as well, you basically never had fog on screen. And that fog remove couldn't be undone by zombies eating it since Blover was instant use.
@@thepotassiumgamer2137then again it still does its job correctly, flat shroom cant remove steam, isnt a ground plant so any zombies can eat it, cant even block sewer paths correctly like HUH ???
i would say that even if it did permanently remove steam, that would make lotus root peashooter 2.0
If 2c had mint families this is where I think these plants would belong:
Flat-shroom: Contain
Fanilla: Contain/Spear
Passionflower: Appease/Enforce
Lotus Root: Ail
Berry Blaster: Bombard
Lily of Alchemy: Ail
Passionflower must be in Enforce-mint family
Flat shroom is in the compost-mint

"...but for zombies, death might be their only solution"
that Lily of Alchemy description kinda brutal for this kind of game
I still don't understand why Kung-fu world and Sky City were so cool, but every other China exclusive world have just never been finished
I presume it was a budget thing or they got lazy, or we can possibly even point to other Chinese exclusive games that may have taken dev time away, but I don’t know enough to say anything
sky city is my fav bc the flying planta there are kinda uniuqe im lookin at board beans
Ea Shang hai sold his game to talk welb after he create sky city
If I understand correctly, both those worlds were made by Popcaps development team in China, afterwards they sold the game to a third party company which can't really meet the same standards
Sky City was just too cool that they spent all their money on it
I really appreciate pvz reflourished's rendition of this. the vents are now for zombies to move faster and the plants aren't too niche but just perfect
Good thing the mushroom is 0 sun, "Yeah, this guy's sole purpose is to counter 2 specific mechanics but due to poor coding it fails at both tasks".

At first I was jealous by the idea of the Chinese version of the game having more plants and more worlds but honestly? This version of the game doesn’t look so fun
Yeah, definition of quantity over quality. While the international version drops a new plant very sparsely, it's always fleshed out and well-polished. Contrary to pvzc which drops plants at an abhorrently fast rate and which are all super low quality.

I absolutely love these over analyzing videos, thanks for making them!
It's actually quite sad that this world was released like... two years ago? And they haven't come back to finish it to this day. It still has only 23 levels, it still has a ton of bugs, its plants are badly designed imo (like the whole poison thing seems super useless because it does so little damage? why even use plants like Lily of Alchemy to begin with. Lotus Root's poison mechanic is more like a bonus, albeit a barely noticeable one, but Lily's mechanic is kinda meh and it's a LEGENDARY type of plant), the coding mistake with Flat-shroom is uh... I don't even want to talk about it.
The chinese version repeats the same mistakes over and over, releasing unfinished content and taking an ungodly amount of time to finish it. Like remember the old maps? How Far Future and Sky City's bosses were unplayable? How Lost City had no keys nor exclusive off-way Brain Busters because the only gate on the old map couldn't be unlocked? Just why don't they concentrate on finishing these things instead of just slapping another unfinished crap on top of the old ones. It's so frustrating to see what PvZ2 turned into, both the international and the chinese versions.
I apologize for all the blabbering, but I just needed to get it out of my system :D
Three words: *Made in China*
Poisons dont bypass armours in the 2c.
Also, International version always completed the worlds fully not like the chinese.
dude, how are you so great at editing as well as understanding how the chinese version works
Flat-shroom really deserves a buff, like, i can deal with it not removing the steam entirely (in fact it actually makes sense when you think about it), but not having it remove steam temporarily a few seconds after it's first planted actually makes it a lot worse than it could be if properly executed.
Here's a guide on how YOU (yep, YOU) can make Flat-shroom better:
Step 1
Make it remove the steam when it's placed.
Step 2
Make the steam harmless/weaker
Step 3
Make it a ground plant
Step 4
Idk just speed up the recharge

One of the biggest problems I’ve noticed with the plants in the Chinese worlds is that they’re all one off stupid counters to an oddly specific niche zombie or environmental hazard. Its pretty much a stereotype or thing to make fun of in pvz in general, some stupid plant to be used to counter some oddly specific thing and be useless outside of the level it came from.

Oh my God, Dirk Valentine was my favorite old Nitrome game, when I heard its music, my jaw literally dropped. You are awesome.

Im gonna put logic in flat shroom and the steam holes. Will that fix stuff? No, no it will absolutely not. If you remove the steam, then that steam needs to build up for 12 seconds for it to come out. But if you place flat shroom into the only opening, then steam can’t go anywhere. And it stays longer in until flat shroom gets yeeted. Why? Because the steam stuck underneath is building up more and more pressure until flat shroom can’t hold it any longer and all the steam yeets flat shroom away and all the pressure has been released. Again, this won’t help with why flat shroom won’t permanently stops steam from coming out
I got an idea just by seeing how utterly useless flat shroom is, it could be a lite pumpkin, but, when placed on steam holes it would charge a powerful onclick attack, it isn't a perfect design, but at least it would do something

Also, I have footage of me beating a seed conveyor level (hard mode w/ lvl4 zombies) where you only get the mulberry, lily, and shrink violet on hard mode with just level 1 mulberry and lily and maybe level 2 violet. The strategy is that the lily is extremely OP and the violet works like a temporary blockade for any enemies getting in the way. Some plants in this world, like Gold Bloom, are really good, while others, like Fanilla, feel like they should go in a garbage can. But here's my opinions on all of them:
1. Gold Bloom: Incredibly useful and OP.
2. Lotus Root: I didn't know Blover and Hurrikale could remove the steam. Since I have Blover, I can use it INSTEAD of Lotus Root to get the steam removed in a better way. Lotus Root could be better as a gimmick counter plant.
3. Flat-Shroom: I had no idea that Blover could remove steam, so I didn't get what this plant did when you first unlock it. Now that I know that Blover can remove steam, Flat-Shroom will be more useful. I knew about the transportation blocking though.
4. Fanilla: Like I said, trash. Literally only used for countering the Gentleman Zombie. Does too little damage. The tornado ability doesn't help make this plant better.
5. Passionflower: The rapid damage and multi-lane attacking gives this plant it uses.
6. Berry Blaster: I was able to beat that conveyor level with this and Lily of Alchemy easily, even on Hard Mode, because of the damage they do.
7. Lily of Alchemy: Really useful. The stacking poison gets rid of zombies quickly.
