Does any drummer do this kind of demo better? I mean seriously... its fun, its entertaining, its enlightening, the chops are huge... He turns something as simple as a lesson into a genuine show. One of my all time fav players.
Heck ya. Gregg is so amazing. He's super-nice and genuine in-person too. I met him at a clinic when I was a kid and he was so friendly and took time to talk to everyone equally.
Had the pleasure of providing sound for two of his gigs with the Lancaster Percussion Ensemble in Ohio...What a GREAT cat to work for!!!!!! THE BEST ROAD STORIES!!!!
Gregg is so awesome. Not only a great teacher but also very good at storytelling. I love how he always breaks down his stuff with a bunch of creative stories. Very inspiring
What i love so much about Gregg Bissonette (besides his amazing drumming) is his sincere passion for drums in general! You can tell he genuinely loves playing drums and sharing his knowledge
This guy is actually one of the coolest drummers in the business. I've never ended a interview that I watched and been less than entertained this guy is great. And he plays for Ringo so there's that. Says something right.
A trademark Tony Williams drum lick and I'm glad Greg mentions that thanks to the incredible Steve Smith of course! Tony Williams gave us so much, his legacy is huge and will live on forever. Probably one of the most celebrated jazz drummers and still one of the most underrated drummers from his era.
Thanks, Gregg. I've seen three ... now, four guys explain this, each just slightly differently. I mean, same sticking, but marginally unique execution. Aside from being informative, you've made it a LOT of fun. Well done!
Dear Mr. Gregg, there is the word in Polish language - "flaszka" - means a bottle (of whisky or vodka). Switch the B to F and the T for K in your "Blashta" and you got it. Worth to remember ... 😉 So. This lick is in Polish "The FLASZKA lick". 😆 I love your playing and great personality. Greetings from 🇵🇱POLAND (Please, DO NOT mix it with 🇷🇺Russia). The great fan of yours - Paweł.
@@markdemell3717 to me other drummers thinks he's just a rock drummer as in DLR band etc but seeing him live and in clinic he plays all sorts of genre having studied at Berkeley....
@@johnfearon6115 I have been checking out many Gregg videos lately and I think that he is like a defensive forward in hockey to use a sports analogy,he is well rounded and solid.
I've always done this since before I knew what it was, but slightly different. lRLLR (right flam instead of left) is easier for me. I ALWAYS over diddle on my left hand anyways, so that was natural. I understood what I was doing after watching Todd Suchermann's Methods and Mechanics while he was going over Swiss Army Triplets and this lick. I've always loved inverted paradiddles a lot better than the norm. Right flams are better than lefts for me. I like riding the lower toms more than the snare or the higher ones. :) Sounds awesome mixed in with flammed sixth-strokes as well. Those are my favorite overall!!
Where does the bass drum fall? I know it’s supposed to be “organic/sloppy,” but I can’t seem to get it right. Does it land before the first grace note, or is it doubled with the first L hand accent?
Thanks to Gregg and Drumeo for this .As Akis Al says ,the BD before the flam F rr L K , as I understand it, Blushda ( a flam followed by a drag )based on a 3 note grouping so BD on the end makes it 4 notes long ,I try to slow down the double right and squash the BD note in with the flam ,Check out Glen Sobels Excellent Tutorial on the Blushda.
Dude that’s s tony williams lick. Use a single or double right hand after the flam. Start with the single right hand then go to double to create momentum. So many licks go back to Tony I swear.
Great drummer, and a great teacher. Wasn’t Greg a protege of Buddy Rich? I know Carl Palmer was. Imagine Steve Smith and Vinnie going to music school together. I wonder whatever happened to those guys.

This is the best sounding bass drum I have ever heard. It's a good thing it's not November cause DAMN
Killed it with vocalizing how Elvin played - so accurate but humorous
For years, I mean for years, I've searched for this Bissonette signature lick! I'm glad I've finally found a video about it! Thanks Mr. Bissonette.
Gregg is so awesome. Not only a great teacher but also very good at storytelling. I love how he always breaks down his stuff with a bunch of creative stories. Very inspiring

YT sends me Gregg, I watch and listen and he never disappoints me.
He has such a disarming personality. What a wonderful teacher. Seems like such a wonderful person.
What i love so much about Gregg Bissonette (besides his amazing drumming) is his sincere passion for drums in general! You can tell he genuinely loves playing drums and sharing his knowledge
Greg, Vinnie, Novak, Steve Smith all got that lick from Tony Williams albums Believe It and Million Dollar Legs.

Hello There I know. Seinfeld took that line directly from Buddy and put it in the show.
Great lesson, Gregg! Thanks alot!!!
Gregg is phenomenal. I just can’t get passed his hair though.
Reminds me of max Weinberg's intro to the old conan O'Brien show, love that fill, it works for multiple styles of music too.
Gregg is awesome! Love him!!!
Saw Gregg in a mapex drum clinic with Russell Gillbrook (Uriah Heep) years ago such a nice guy and so underrated

I was watching me some tony Williams when I heard the lick and thought: "was that a blushda?".
Now I know I was right.

Great storytelling! Very informative and entertaining. I'm not even a drummer. ☺
Love Gregg!!!! he's my long lost twin brother 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Maravilhoso vídeo !!! Esse cara é incrível!!!
What timing
Best damn narrator of drums
rLRRL (where's the FF go "in the middle"?) I guess I'll have to woodshed it. Cool lick.
Where does the bass drum fall? I know it’s supposed to be “organic/sloppy,” but I can’t seem to get it right.
Does it land before the first grace note, or is it doubled with the first L hand accent?

At 7:40 he discuses the 4 Blushda's and then blop. The bass drum would fall in between them.
Thanks Greg!!!!!!!

Such a cool lick! But you have no idea at all with that бляш ты да бляшты (4:34) :-D
I think I'm a little slow but I'm not totally sure why it has to be a LH flam.
❤

Carl Palmer is a player but, crusty and egotistical.
