  • Big thanks to LCBI for sending some parts over to share. These new sapphire lumed bezel inserts are a must have for all new builds.

2 years later I finally got it done. My factory bezel had gotten so it wouldn’t turn, hardly. So I did the switch. The pocket knife worked best. Once I put in the smaller gasket, the crystal press worked fine to pop it in. The clicks are a little les lms satisfying than I hoped, but the bezel is a torch now!

    Watch looks fantastic as is👍
I put the new sapphire Batman insert on my Vostok Amphibia - the extra lume and shine has propelled it to a whole new level!

I've been tempted to replace the bezel on my STO Turtle because I don't care for the black PVD finish against a stainless steel case. Your video is giving me the confidence that I could do it without too much trouble. I really like LCBI products so it may be time to screw up the courage to do so.

Okay. Wow, that was pretty straight forward! Thanks, very much. I’ll let you know how it turned out. Really appreciate it, Rob.

Being told this one is crazy loose. I have another turtle I can try soon, maybe have a tight one to show mother way.

I ordered a steel bezel insert and coin edge bezel from Nomokies last week for my padi turtle 🐢

Nice. Huge fan of coin edge bezels, much prefer them to the old style 'bumpy grooves' bezel.

The bezel on my PADI Turtle pops off no problem...I have been thinking about getting the LBCI sapphire pepsi bezel insert and seeing how good your looks I will definitely get one - That lume is amazing. Thank you for another excellent video :)

I love the turtles as they are, but very informative and surprisingly easier to remove that bezel than I imagined, don't think I would attempt anything on my collection of Turtle beauties.

That was an easy one! My orange Nemo was impossible to remove the bezel. The watch repair shop couldn't do it either and they were scratching the case. I took it back home and did it myself. But it required a ball peen hammer. Scratched the case more. Polished it out though. But it was very difficult. Some other Turts, still difficult just a little, but not as bad as my Nemo.

Excellent video. I've been thinking about doing this on my Samurai, I guess it will be just as easy as the Turtle. The Blue also is a great idea ! Thank you

Bruce Cameron I heated my PADI Samurai bezel with a hairdryer then prayed off insert (destroying it) then was able to install ceramic insert without popping off the bezel.
Slack and lazy but it worked...looks stunning!

That definitely wasn’t the norm Rob. I had heard of the issue with removing the bezel and i encountered the same issue with mine. I ended up tapping/using a modelling knife blade to get the bezel removal started, followed by the blue bezel removal tool. After i got it started it was easy, but seemed to be near impossible beforehand.

Typical Seiko variation. This one came off insane easy. I have another way to remove stuck bezels I can show. It is more involved but works.

I have a 779j. I bought a coin edge bezel and black ceramic insert for it, but I can't for the life of me get the bezel off. Scratched the hell out of the case as well, despite taping it up. Spent the rest of the time cleaning up the case with 1000 grit sandpaper. Not for the faint of heart, lol.

  • @willardhooton920

Been super lazy and just heating bezels with hairdryer, then prying off insert (destroying it😕).
Watch intact, ceramic / sapphire insert in, smile on face on...
    Has worked on 2 SKX’s and a Samurai- Took 3 minutes 👍

What kind of Adhesive do you use for the Bezel insert? Do you replace the bezel and insert if you want a different insert? I would like to put a batman bezel on my Turtle.

  • @lucacadianalbert

Hey Rob - what do you use for adhesive for the bezel inserts?

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  5 років тому +2

Prefer companies have it on the bezel already. Some include 3m stickers. Or in a pinch go to local craft store and pick up jewelers glue.

Love your videos. Quick question: when you “mod” a Seiko turtle doesn’t it lose its ISO certification? Shouldn’t it be pressure tested in some piece of equipment?

I've been searching for a bezel for my 1984 Seiko turtle 6309-7049. I think I found the bezel, and bearings, but I still need the ratchet ring, and spring. I've got more expensive watches, but my wife bought me the watch new in 84,and I lost the bezel diving in Key West 10 years ago. It's been serviced 3,or 4 times over the years, and is ready again, but whether i mod it,or get the original parts isn't that important, I'd just like it to be complete. If you would except the commission, great ! Or perhaps you can give me some idea where I can find those elusive parts. Enjoyed the video, and I'll be watching. No pun intended.

You may have a good tight one. There are better tools for sure. Also when they are tough I remove the movement and go hard at it another way. Involves brass punch and hammer.

Those bezel chapter rings come off in pools and especially the ocean with depth/temperature/pressure changes. You loose ISO rating when you tape a bezel insert on. I am staying stock for diving. Thanks but no thanks.
