This was my first GD show ever... Not coming from a Dead Head family my friends were on the bus already and it was junior year in high school and I said I'm going anyways without the fam's consent but it wasn't a hard sell I had the ticket already and they weren't gonna pay for me not to use it....It was cold, rainy, and generally a miserable day weather wise hence the second set setlist, but truly a magical experience that molded me forever and to the ring leader Jerry Garcia.... Thanks Captain Trips from the first notes played I knew I was home ....and those regular sized balloons I blew most of them up with a buddy of mine and a couple of other people most of the show and watched em move around from the back and top of the bowl known as Nassau Coliseum...Thanks Kevin for bringing this video to life so I could relive this one...
This was also my first GD show ever. I was just telling my 7 year old son about and I went searching and found this video. Awesome. We share a bond. Best wishes to you
@@fireatwill7707 you can see the balloons everywhere ... I was def in another reality for that show and I blew up like 20 or 30 of them 😂 my buddy kept blowing one up and as I said I think it might and boom it popped and half the place looked at him ... I fell over laughing but that show is so good... remember the weather it was cold and pouring and the setlist reflected the night perfectly ... good times fo’sure 🙏🏻 hope your son enjoys it and glad to be a part of the bond buddy
Great rendition of “Rain”! Never gave Vince his props when I was seeing these shows because I missed Brent. He was a great fit/replacement. Kind of realizing that many years after the fact! Great show.
I have to admit though, sometimes it is fun listening to these later day audience recordings (especially NY aud's where the audience is always so amped up) where you really get a feeling for what it was like in the building. Can't beat a NY crowd.
Drove up from DC area for this show and the previous night. Both shows were outstanding. This was my first and only IMHBTR. Truly special. Saw them 13 more times in 1994 and 1995. These two shows were top tier.
I saw my first shows in 94 so it holds a special place in my heart. When the band is on fire and in the zone, there are some magical moments. A mind blowing experience to behold live in person. Thank-you brother, I needed this and a bunch of other shows you shared, for my soul. And come on, let's all admit, this show is smokin'!!! Top to bottom, beginning to end. When they're in the zone, they are in the zone.
I was also a junior in high school and this was my only actual Grateful Dead show with Jerry, though I have seen most of the post-Jerry successor bands.
This show is freaking great!! I'll take it over the shows we get now! And I don't care what any freak says, if you were an old timer, and you jumped off the bus bc you thought they lost it, and you walked into that first set...it was 9 songs long, 3 jerry ballads, and outside of the first throwaway opener, all the songs are done, well, they sound great, Phil is sick, then in the 2nd set they do 6 tunes before D/S????and then Days...I have a hard time believing that anyone who ever liked this band would dislike this show....and 10-1-94 too, shows well after the so called 2nd peak. is it perfect ? god no. does he come in late sometimes and blow a lyric/verse here and there, yeah, who cares-he catches up...he leans in, and he's got 16 months to live. Talk about giving your all till the end. Garcia was the most honest musician ever... This is a great dead show. Thanks for the video, its great. I had fun on the 27th and 28th down on the island...
Road tripped from Providence, RI for this one. Mindblowing...the only words I could form for a few hours (due to some Sunshine during all that Rain) was, "...the drums did it...the drums did it..." The LI police took pity on us on the attempted drive home and we waited it out in a McDonalds. Amazing, amazing show.
I remember when this concert was held. I didn't attend, but I drove past not knowing who was at the Coliseum that night. The parking lot was *packed* and all kinds of _walkers_ were crossing Hempstead Turnpike to get in.
I remember this show like it was yesterday. It had the most energy out of any show I saw between the fall of 93 and the final summer tour. The crowd was insanely loud while singing "Going where the winds don't blow so strange" when coming out of the He's Gone solo.
I loved the 3 shows I saw this run. First night we got Might. As Well to en the first set, this show was as good as it got for the time and the final show was off the hook with the best Dew of the Vince era
I remember seeing them the night before as well as this night. The night before when they came out for the second set Jerry's amp wasn't working. We heard a Samson and Deliah with him strumming but no audio. Vince played a nice little improv solo once the song ended while they worked on Jerry's racks. They went into an amazing Aiko Aiko. The rest of that show was amazing and the next night it was as if they picked up where they left off and just kept the energy and groove going.
I was there with ya. I can't believe you found this video as well. It was raining so hard too. We couldn't find our ride and were the last ones to leave the parking lot that night.
I remember it was pouring rain this day of the show and the band warmed things up big time before heading down south. The first set is really exceptional and Phil is on big time! I look forward to seeing Masterpiece again. Jerry was really on it with his harmonies this night. Set two has a great set list and playing as well, Rain was perfect, clearly the best Beatles's cover they ever played. A sick Victim and then Phil's gives us a wonderful break in the clouds with a joyous Box of Rain.Jerry throws in one of his rare trifectas before drums and you get one of the best Day's Between they ever played. Always curious why we have never heard a sb of this show? Maybe a future release?
Like you, I remember this show like it was yesterday. An old friend of mine and I went to the show the night before too where there was a malfunction with Jerry's amps so we heard a near Jerryless Sampson and Delilah. Had a musical interlude performed by Vince until the one the best Iko Iko's I witnessed in the MIDI era was performed. It was like having a restart on the second set. The energy from that second set just seemed to carry over into the next night.
Wish I could've made this show...caught them at Giants stadium in the summer, but this was much more upbeat, and Jerry both singing and playing pretty well for that year. Like certain venues, they seemed to up their game at Nassau. Never truly liked the big stadium shows...they always seemed to sound and play better in theaters and arena's. Thx so much for sharing brother!
rm1133 last great dew was at the Knick in 95, it's the swan song for the mighty Dew ! Even tho that tour was sub par (being nice here) they pull it together one last time I think it's 6/22/95 second set after Easy Answers , that my friend is the last great Dew ⚡️🌹⚡️
The last verse in Days Between is maybe one of most bestest JG vocal I've heard. wow. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Thanks to all who got this here. This show is special. I don't usually listen to shows beyond 91. He's Gone is a total tear jerker.
Time to start relistening ❤

Saw them this night and later that summer at Giants Stadium. Agreed.
it was the 3rd night of Passover
it was rain all day and all night
one can still hear the colors emanating from the music today
This is just phenomenal in all aspects
I always thought Jerry saved Must've Been the Roses for special nights.
He definitely did!
