Hi! I just wanted to let you know that hydrogen peroxide degrades rapidly in clear containers when exposed to light, so I usually will just put the spray nozzle on the bottle it comes in. Love your content❤.
I just want you to know how much you have helped me grow and add new plants. I just rewatched two of your videos on Alocasia corms as when I replanted the only one I’ve had I found 14 corms! If it wasn’t for your educational videos I wouldn’t have even known to look for them. Thanks for your honesty about failures as well as success as it has really inspired me. You are just a lovely person and I enjoy seeing your kitties. We have two but unlike yours one of ours is very bad with plants so doors have to be shut or plants placed up high. Keep up the great videos.
Beautiful plants and very therapeutic watching the extension work....looking forward to growth updates now! I would really love to see a vid on how you prep your plants for when you go on vacation. I'd be interested to see how you tackle this age old stress inducing problem 😆 Thanks for another great share Melissa 🥰
@@plantsbymelissa haha I hear ya I just got an all white leaf and I remember first getting into plants I always wanted the whitest albo now I’m like ahhhh no. I want some green lol!!!
Thanks for the video ❤ if you’re in need of some bigger ceramic pots and you have a Michaels near you, you should go check it out!! They’ve become my secret spot for getting heavy pots because they stock quite a few and once they’re cycling into the next collection they’re 60% off. I was there the other day and they had a 10” ceramic on sale for like $8 and lots of 5/6/7” pots!
Excited to see how your albos do! I bought my first albo cutting almost 2 months ago now and it’s been growing so many roots in the stratum! Hoping it pops some new growth soon!
Hope you had a great time. I have so many questions i want to ask you. You seem to know all the facts with the poles. Thank you for sharing. Your plants are so inspiring and i hope i can get mine half as beautiful as yours
BTW...i am also a fan of the Thicckly grow poles, however, Im not a huge fan of the prices of the larger moss poles. I like the small ones and the price is reasonable. I searched Amazon for a larger pole to try with my Monstera. I found the perfect ones imo. The company is EOX. The pole is 4in × 24in and if you use leca there is a solid section at the bottom that prevents fallout. I have the bigger leca that i use in the bottom of my poles, so it helps. Ofcourse it uses more moss. They arrive rolled up and there's a clear peel off film, but they are just like thicckly and once you start bending the corners it straightens right out. If i need to extend Ill take a sodering iron and make holes in the two pieces to ziptie then ill make holes in the back for a stake. I attached my monstera with grafting tape and it looks sharp. They are on sale now (im going to get 4 more) 4 for $17... or 2 for #11....sale price. If you want to get 2 just to try its worth the money especially for fast growers bc these are 24 inches tall. Just thought id add this bc its a good product for a good price and its exactly the same just different name. GOOD LUCK! 😊❤
Love the video!! Bought some stratum as wel. Did the butterfly method with my string of hearts variegatied into te stratum, it always 'jumps' out of the stratum even if i hold it down and try to put some over the note.. Is it also good when the note rests on top of the stratum, or do i have to pin in down into it witth a bobby pin or something like that? Hope you can give me some advise. Love Carine🤩 Have a great time and day 🥰
cool! I've been wanting to chop my verrucosum and add it back into the pot but I'm so nervous lol it's currently on its 2nd extension. I'm thinking maybe I should wait until it outgrows the 2nd pole. it's doing so well I hope there isn't a setback lol
It's so scary chopping sometimes because you don't know how they'll respond. I think I might want to chop mine next time. If it's growing well I would let it grow some more then chop. The more roots it has the better it'll handle the chop.
Hey Melissa ope you enjoyed your mini vaca. I’ve been air layering my Albo for about six weeks now an ready to chop her. At 14:19 theres not much you can do about where the axillary bud is but my fear in chopping is the new leaves will be all white. Thinking that node is really white, guess we’ll have to wait an see. 🫶🏼💚 Your Dubia is so beautiful 😍
Thank you! 🫶🏻 on our way back now :) I know the all white can be scary! My albos have some good genetics all from the same seller so hoping it’ll continue. I’m excited to watch it though and see what happens! The dubia has grown so much! 💚
I don't know how long this video was made. But I want to know where you got that leaf mat at. i like to get me one. And I was wondering do you give any plants away are sell them cause I would like to get one. I would love the Monstera albo. I been wanted one for so long. I'm not sure if this the right place to text you. I also want to tell I watch all you video. Some time I watch them twice are three time. I am learning a lot from you.
Hi 👋 there...Miss Melissa.. I am weighing whether i should buy an Alocasia frydek, variegata..i just love the look, however i live in an environment that only has 30-40% humidity 😅, now even less in winter..i will have to use humidifier. I really need your opinion on their best growing conditions...do you have yours in fluval stratum, at this time? I love that stuff, too. Do you plan to move to pon? I need to get experience with that. Do you have a Black Velvet, ⚫️...variegata? Love that one, too.. I did rescue a M. THAI, BABY 👶, by transferring to fluval stratum, leaf rotting when received, with little root growth...now pushing out new leaf 🍃 Man, i thought M. ALBOS were not as prone to rot as the THAI...if you have that, anyone else would be more likely. Are you going to sell any of those cuttings? Depending on cost, (poor), i would be interested.. Beautiful 😍 verucossum...so difficult, aren't they?
I have my variegated frydek in my cabinet right now in stratum. It's pretty warm and humid in there over 70%. I'm not sure yet what I want to do with her :/ Have you grown a regular Frydek first or another alocasia in your environment to see how they do?
I have about 5 Alocasias, which are growing well, but think they would grow better in pon from what you and others have videoed...however never used pon and don't know how that transition works..you have said that fluval stratum is a better transition, though..is that correct? I have propagation boxes, in which i could provide higher humidity...
I have a question. My monstera standleyana is on a thiccly moss pole. It's been growing so well but in June I had family here and we were gone so I had a friend care for my plants. The standleyana has brown spots on some of the leaves now. I think it may be due to the moss pole drying out too much. Does that sound reasonable? Sigh...moss poles can be tricky! Any advice?
It’s possible it could be a watering issue. My standleyana albo gets browning on the white parts very easily. The moss goes dry often but it’s really hard to keep it moist.
@@plantsbymelissa thanks Melissa! I think keeping the moss pole moist is tough but it's also hard to not overwater the whole plant. Thus takes time to perfect! I appreciate the response! Thank you!
Yes! I clean out my containers with soap and water and reuse them and the leftover stratum I will save to reuse. I let it dry out and dump it in a separate container. It’s worked well so far and sometimes I add some fresh in ☺️

Ah thank you! I just bought a new bottle so I’ll leave it in there.
I came to say this, I learned the hard way lol. I swear there is so much to learn being a plant parent 🥰🥰🥰
Wow your varicosum ( however you spell it) is gorgeous 😍😍
Can stratum be rinsed and reused like pons? @@plantsbymelissa
That cracking sound when you’re extending thiccly poles is so satisfying to me
I love doing plant chores. I find it so therapeutic ❤
the verrucosum is sooooooo beautiful 🍀

Thank you! It was nice to get away for a few days :) Plants are very thirsty lol
Just so happened to be wearing the same shirt as you while watching this. I love your videos 💚
I’m so exited for this!! I love seeing people prop their Albos ❤️❤️❤️ I’ll be doing it to mine once the leaf it’s working on is done
I’m excited to see any progress when I get home. I’ve been gone for 4 days so I’m eager to check them!!
You are a pro with the extension now!all the plants look great 👍

More plantology from the Plantologist Extraordinaire. I hope you had a chance to rest after all these plant chores. Thanks for the video.
The pole extensions took me out that day 😂🫶🏻

Thank you! Already have some root growth which is so crazy! Stratum is amazing lol I'm happy yours is doing well!
I wish I could have my plants on the floor like yours, but my cats would have a field day, they love to chew up my plants. :( Your Cebu is stunning!

Thank you! On our way back 🫶🏻 poles take a lot of practice! I definitely didn’t know what I was doing initially 🙈
U gave me motivation to chop my monstera 😂😂😂😂😂
Yay!! 😂🫶🏻
I put my Dubia on a thickly pole so it wouldn’t curl, but i got the idea to put it on a pole at all from you 😊 love your videos!
Thank you 🙏🏼 I hope it stops curling on me soon lol
Hey girlie. Heads up my albo that is sooo white did so well is stratum I just added some moss on top to keep moisture in while rooting :)

Slip the zip tie just behind the stem and just around the pole

Brown spot is gor over watering or under watering also it coul be low humidity or spraying on leaves or check the roots

Where did you get your support poles?
