Absolutely fabulous lady. You wanna tear up a bit. You go right ahead. Nice work. You did a very good job in this repotting. Please keep us up with this plant for the viewers. Looking forward to seeing it's growth. Your the best. Prayers for rain. Ken
Hi, great journey with the plant from purchase through hardship and saving it. The result is wonderful. Thank you for this video, it lifted my spirits. Currently my ThaiConstelation is in resuscitation, I cut off the rotten roots and root in Lechuza Pon, under lights. Thank you for adding optimism. Happy greenest in 2034!🎉🎉🎉
So happy you got her potted up...she's a beauty Melissa! And yay you've decided to go with Foliage Focus...I really hope your plants love it as much as mine do 💪
I’ve been seeing so many people talking about and using the GT Foliage Focus lately!! The shop that I ordered my first albo from sells it but I didn’t actually place an order for it until last week, and I can’t wait to try it! I recently started switching some plants to leca and I’ll be making my own pon as well, and the Foliage Focus seems to be the top recommendation for semi-hydro too so it’s perfect ❤ I hope it works well for you!
Thank you!! I hope it does well for you too and that you like it! I have a good feeling with it and I keep hearing so many people saying great things! It will be a nice change from the slow release too ☺️
Great repot! She’s been used to growing roots in water for 2 months, so she’ll appreciate a good soaking until she gets used to new medium. Thanks for sharing Melissa!
Beautiful plant! I am so glad you were able to save her. Those roots are amazing. If you have a Lowes near you, they had a lot of large plants when I was last there, I think a white ceramic pot would be beautiful as you mentioned. The heavy ceramic pot will help to keep it from tipping over as it grows too. Thanks for the great video! 🥰
Very beautiful plant that I’m sure will flourish under your skilled and perceptive care. I enjoyed this video a lot. I very much respect your overall approach to plant work utilizing observation, planning, aesthetics, experience and knowledge among other attributes. Like an architect designing a beautiful building. Your videos keep improving just like your plants. Plantologist Extraordinaire in every way.
I found this very interesting… this is my most favourite plant, I’ve got 2 and I have found in my SW window or under grow lights it grows quite well, so I was surprised to hear it classified as ‘slow growing’ anyways I absolutely love the green and texture of the leaf and hearing that it could fenustrate as it continues up is quite exciting! 🌱
Ohhh Melissa 🥹 I think we can all say that we got emotional in that video that you had to cut her to save her. Now she is ready to grow up and be a diva again. I am happy for you! 🎉🎉🎉
For a stake, in legend of monstera’s video when he visited socaltropics she used decorative wooden stakes she got from Michael’s and i loved the look and now I use them for most of my monsteras.
Hi Melissa, she’s gorgeous! I’m going to look for an update on your channel 🤞🏼 I’ve always seen in video when reporting by that the stems and nodes where the lower branch is coming out from should always remain above the soil level, but in your case the majority of the root ball is kinda in the middle of all the branches, did it cause any problems after repotting as it’s been a few months now? Thanks so much !! @plantsbymelissa x
I use a stake or pole and never wet it haha! Just use it as support. I also found gorgeous clear plastic pots off Etsy and they are so sturdy and gorgeous! Love seeing the roots go crazy!
I just moved my baby thai con to water yesterday (to recover from root rot) and am so happy to see the amazing roots on yours! P.S. I love your sweater - that color looks good on you!
Thank you! It grew so many roots!! Sorry about your Thai 😭 The green set is from Target!! It's on sale in store right now lol I went and bought it in black yesterday :)
Thank you!! I can link it here. I got it a couple years ago and not sure how active the girl is anymore. She hasn't posted on insta in awhile but her site still shows some available! www.theplantdrip.co/products/imperfect-the-potting-mat
Those roots! ❤ You gave me a great suggestion recently of putting my Thai Con that I have propagating in water right now in the window. The roots are growing so much faster with all that added light. Also, interesting you should say that the Monteras don’t need a moss pole. I’ve been going back-and-forth all week about whether I want to repot my Monsteras with moss poles. I think you just saved me a couple hours of work and clean up 😂
aww happy it's growing roots more quickly now! They love the light!! I think a pole is great to help support the plant but a stake will work just fine too! I think whatever is easier for you! 🥰
I know I´m a bit late to the video, but aren´t you afraid that the petioles buried under the substrate will root pretty fast? Will that not happen with such a chunky mix or ?
Wow.. thats lovely.. i love watching your videos and also started my youtube by being inspired by you… love the way you share your emotions for plants.. love it ❤❤❤❤
aww thank you 🥹 Congratulations on starting a channel!! That's AMAZING! It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there so great job!! You'll only get better as you go 🤗
Beautiful plant. I have a question I chopped and water rooted a aurea it was juvenile but the leaves got droopy. They’ve perked up a little but they’re still mostly droopy. Did you experience that?
I am so happy for your happiness 😄... the roots are so wonderful, I think there is magic in your tap water 😅... my tap water has 500 ppm. Is this OK from your experience?
It's a little older but I think she is still selling them. I haven't seen her active on her insta in a long time. www.theplantdrip.co/products/imperfect-the-potting-mat
I used liquid dirt for 4 month and my plants was the same i didnt see no improvement nothing then i use general hydrophonic and my plants start thriving and getting huge now because i have most Anthu😮rium i want to try something new so i did tps base a and b and selica with calmag and my plants are crazy growing new leaves 💚💚💚💚
I used it for a good year and my plants did okay but never grew like that have until last summer after I switched to osmocote. The growth difference was crazy. Looking back at footage and photos!
Hey Melissa, glad your Aurea is looking so good! I agree that a white planter would be an awesome pairing. What are your thoughts on coco coir vs peat? I'm not sure why, but I was thinking you weren't a fan of coco coir. Maybe that was tied more to the original coco mix for a plant straight from a big box store.
Thank you so much! I think I didn't care for the coco husk ( this was when I was using sols because I had a hunch it was staying too moist) I started picking some out when I used it but turns out it's all the calcined clay that turned it to complete mush and root rot. Ocean forest has peat moss which I don't care for now so I think switching to the coir is a good alternative as long as I aerate the mix up well!
Thank you! I am glad it was helpful! While they are rooting I don't use anything but you'll definitely want to if you plan on keeping them in there long term or more than 7-8 weeks :)
Did you add anything to the water of the monstera to grow those roots?? I was wondering if the sun should see the roots or not, but looks like yours do see a lot of direct sunlight, i have more indirect light and grow lights in my apartment's but never see roots like THAT.
Lots of light I think is the trick!! when I purchased my variegated monsteras the seller I bought from was pretty adamant about the amount of light they should receive. This was back in 2021 so I knew light was important but not like how I know now :)
They are big holes and the soil mix is super chunky! Plus my plant room temps reach up to 80 deg F and the monstera gets direct sun during the afternoons so lots of light to use up more water quickly :)
I used it based off another plant tuber I watched in my early days of collecting and my plants didn't seem to grow too much. I probably used it over a year and I didn't like mixing it up all the time either. I switched to osmocote next last spring and my plants exploded in growth! It's crazy to look back 🥹
I live in Savannah, GA. We are in too cold of a growing zone to keep them out all year so I'll bring them all back in when the weather gets more cold :)
I DON'T HAVE A M💚NSTERA AUREA...BUT I DID GET A M💚NSTERA THAI And S💚ME Other Higher Priced AR💚IDS...SO I'LL BE Ordering THE GT!!! Thanks For The Links!!!
I got a little emotional again haha 🫶 Thanks for watching and I can't wait to watch her continue to grow!
She's so beautiful 😍❤️!!!
She is beautiful. Can’t wait to see her new pot. Take us pot shopping!
hehe... I filmed a little outing the other day!
Beautiful plant 🪴🥰 it’s hard to not get emotional sometimes with certain plants ☺️
Thanks :) I try not to get so attached but it's hard sometimes, yes!!
She’s looking so shining and Luna is the cutest 🫶🏻
I can't believe how healthy those roots are. I'm so glad you were able to rescue her from rot.
All those roots are beautiful. I wish all my plants 🌿💕🌵🌱 roots look like that😊
They are so chonky!! lol I loved looking at them every day ☺️

It's hard to believe with roots like that she was suffering from root rot. What an amazing job you did rescuing her😊🌷😊
Thank you so much!! So a crazy comparison to see what they used to look like 😭
Wowww, I can't believe that is the one that rotted. She do not look like what she went through and thanks to you. Keep inspiring us plant lovers!!!

I'm doing some plant chores myself so fun doing this with you 💞🤟🌈
Thank you for hanging out with me!! 🫶
I’ve had props rooting longer Than two months and the roots look nothing like that 😮😅. Great repot and that shade of green is definitely your color ☺️

You are so welcome!
I am so happy for you Melissa💚💚she will flourish better than expected💚💚

omg she is gorgeous! i love monsteras so much. what made you decide to switch your soil mix?
Thank you! I am not too much of a fan of peat moss based soils anymore and prefer to mix up all my own ingredients now :)
Thank you very much Melissa! I learned a lot from you. I need to know how to water propagate on water, do you fertilizer on water rooting? Thanks
Thank you! I am glad it was helpful! While they are rooting I don't use anything but you'll definitely want to if you plan on keeping them in there long term or more than 7-8 weeks :)
I had no idea that you can pot up the vine like that. 🤯

They are big holes and the soil mix is super chunky! Plus my plant room temps reach up to 80 deg F and the monstera gets direct sun during the afternoons so lots of light to use up more water quickly :)
@@plantsbymelissa Sounds good! She looks fantastic!
Hi Melissa! What don't you like about Liqui-Dirt fertilizer? It's what I currently started using so I'm just curious??? Please and thank you
I used it based off another plant tuber I watched in my early days of collecting and my plants didn't seem to grow too much. I probably used it over a year and I didn't like mixing it up all the time either. I switched to osmocote next last spring and my plants exploded in growth! It's crazy to look back 🥹
Also, do your cats bother your plants?
Sometimes Chai will nibble (the boy) but I keep them out of my plant room now unless I am in here. The other 2 don't care so I feel very lucky!
What climate are you in if you have houseplants outside all year? What state?
I live in Savannah, GA. We are in too cold of a growing zone to keep them out all year so I'll bring them all back in when the weather gets more cold :)
How do you root monstera that much?
With good light! They root better and I keep the water clean. I sit them in my south window so lots of direct sun when it's out.
Thank you very much! Where are you located at? I am from California. Thanks
I am having a problem growing my monstera albo
Did this aurea come from that order that had tons of pests?
Nope, this is my original special one that I purchased during the pandemic :)
