nice video but let us be fair: that is not really a barn find, not by a mile :) it was plugged in and even moved every couple of weeks. a true barn find would be with a drained battery which most likely would not recover or if then with massive issues. and tires would certainly be dead. but battery alone would probably mean a loss of 20.000€ ;)
There was a stolen model S a few years back and somehow someone found it and it was sitting dead for about a year, but the battery still worked fine. Tesla adds a decent buffer so after 2 years it should be fine because there is no phantom drain.

As I understand (the advice is not very forthcoming from Tesla!) it LFP batteries need to be charged to 100% regularly, and should be stored at 100%.. (they do not have trip mode on the charge screen)
Its the curse of software devs, they have to tinker and change stuff even if there is no need or benefit from the change. I preferred v10 too, especially the easy access to trips. If I knew that some destination or waypoint was a certain distance from a turn or other feature, it was easy to pull up the trips card and watch for the distance. Used to do that with trip features on earlier cars (using google maps to find somewhere you always get intermediate distances). Back to V11. I dont think there is anything which I could say was better than v10. But who listens to the customers after they have paid..... Still like the M3 of course, but there are irritations.
I watch a garage youtube channel from Ukraine that specializes in EVs and hybrids. The Ukrainians buy such EVs from auction in US, EU and Japan. Many such cars have unknown time sitting, and most issues come from poor BMS design. Fiat for example have it programmed to top up the 12 volt battery, after many months of sitting, the HV battery has gone completely dead. Ford focus electric has an issue with coolant leaking in the pack due to cells expanding. Tesls have similar components to Mercedes EVs. Hyundai Kona won't charge if a certain contact on the plug is corroded etc, etc...
Ha ha, a 'Classic' Tesla from so many years ago... They don't make 'em like that anymore Sunshine, these are from back in the day when they made REAL cars! I would charge an LFP to 50% as it is better for the battery when its no doing anything. The problem is that if you use the battery thru many cycles without going to 100% it can confuse the battery management system. But left at 50% it will only top the battery up every so often (by a few percent), like once in 10 days. Charge to 100% when you start using the car again.
Has one of these as a hire car a few weeks back ! iPhone was continuously falling out of the wireless charging point over bumps and with hard acceleration!
How was it a waste of money if its still worth about what they paid for it as he said? Besides its all relevant, if the person has millions of dollars a $60k tesla is nothing, its like you buying a $100 bike and putting it in your garage for years probably.
The old software was much better. A speed display you could actually see easily. But, just to appease the fan boys - Elon knows best and of course it’s so much more beneficial to us to give more space to computer generated images of cars around us rather than using that valuable space to show more of the map. I wonder if he realises we can see the real thing by looking through the windows and mirrors?
That’s not a barn find at all, the car has been plugged all the time and even moved some times. Real barn find means the car is totally isolated and stored for years.
Really interesting video Richard. What a beautiful Model 3. I think it might be my favourite Tesla. A Pearlescent White Long Range with White interior a bit of Chrome, and I say that knowing that Black is less bad for the environment. I can't help it. But I have to ask - what were the circumstances that had a new Tesla parked up for two years with 32 miles on the clock? If the enquiry is too intrusive I'll totally understand. But it is very interesting. 👍
I also prefer the v10 layout and handling, and also the pre-facelift layout of the cabin - I hate wireless charging, which is ridiculously slow and heats up the phone, killing the battery life there. That’s a quite high price to pay for a bit of a comfort. And to be honest, not even that - seating the phone on its charge plug in the “old” interior was just as comfortable. So no gains, just downsides - same as with v11. As others commented, still like the Tesla - but that’s why I’m also wishing for it to go forwards, not backwards.
I just wish I could get the old legible, more user-friendly software back . I don’t appreciate having my car meddled with by game obsessed kids with brilliant eyesight. Enough already……..and give me back my cards !!!

But left at 50% it will only top the battery up every so often (by a few percent), like once in 10 days. Charge to 100% when you start using the car again.
Whats the story? Why'd they buy it to not use it?
Just curious, do u have buyers from Malaysia?
Watched the car wash scene from behind the sofa. . Really scared of seeing you in a bikini Richard 🤣🤣😂😂
What charge was on the battery when you picked it up , was it being charged over the two years sitting idle
did you actually watch any of the video?
@@gap9992 Correct , usually click through it in about 10 sec , find it so boring , just interested in the facts
Would you store a LFP battery car in the same manner?
It would be similar other than a LFP battery likes to be charged to 100% occasionally unlike lithium ion
V10 for the win, the gui was so much better then V11, what where they thinking.......
Has one of these as a hire car a few weeks back ! iPhone was continuously falling out of the wireless charging point over bumps and with hard acceleration!
lol, drive it like a hire car !
The newer or the older variant? In my 2021 model my iPhone 11 and iPhone 13 stay pretty snug and don’t bounce around.
@@nielsvandenkieboom5034 Was a 2019 loan car from Tesla. M3 Long Range.
@@paulstaniford8622 ah yea so pre facelift. The new 2021 and after models have much better wireless charging and phone holders!
What a waste of money to buy it and not use it for 2 years. I hope the new owner uses it as it should be.
I never thought I'd see barn find and Tesla in a sentence anytime soon lol 🤣
That’s not a barn find at all, the car has been plugged all the time and even moved some times. Real barn find means the car is totally isolated and stored for years.
Glad the Car will get used….if it’s in your hands abs sold on.
OK, read down the comments list and got my question answered.
Why is black less bad for the environment?
@@Steror Because Chrome is very bad.
@@ramblerandy2397 how is chrome bad?
Bought a Tesla so they can just leave it lying around for two years? Must be nice
Hello mate 👍
Damn you for the clickbaity title 🙃
So it wasn't found, and it was never in a barn. Right!
2 years is nothing... especially if plugged in.
would have been interested if it hadn't.
Great car!
I miss V10
Given the insane demand for teslas I’m surprised you still have so many in your showroom.
Insane demand for any car at the moment really.
the front bumper looks misaligned
I just wish I could get the old legible, more user-friendly software back .
I don’t appreciate having my car meddled with by game obsessed kids with brilliant eyesight.
Enough already……..and give me back my cards !!!
Why in world would someone buy a 50K electric car and just let it sit up for 2 years.....
Tesla parked up at house in next street. Hardly moved for 2-3 years, they used the other ice car as daily driver.
Would have been more interesting if it wasn't plugged in
When can i get a yoke in my model 3?
Don’t install v11!
it was NOT a barn find....
Barn find 🙄…
Only T E S L A .
Bit of a non video.
I feel a bit trolled since it was plugged in. oh well...UA-cam...sigh
Alternative title: man washes car.
Most unreliable car ever
Really???? What is unreliable?
