Here it is. I used to be really down on my voice, and it felt obvious to myself and those around me that it really just wasn't meant to be. As a lifetime songwriter it was a nightmare, especially because people really love my songs, and so urged me to find a 'real' singer. Unable to accept this, I turned to Mark and we got into weekly lessons. Under his guidance (and tonnes of personal hard work), I'm now playing shows, releasing records and getting compliments about my voice. It's all turned around. The daily throat pains are behind me and I'm learning to play my voice like a guitar solo, note by note, detail by detail, discovering how to give each word feel and emotion and stamp it with my personal touch. I have so much to thank Mark Baxer for - he's the real deal, a no-bullsh*t, no-ego vocal coach who has been tirelessly dedicated to my emergence as both a technical vocalist and an artist. I can't recommend working with him enough - Thanks Mark!
Thank you AGAIN Mark! This is one of the most useful warmups I have ever experienced. It has an uncanny way of relaxing and freeing the throat and the voice. Absolutely wonderful exercise/warmup! One of the best ever!
Something I really liked was marks distinction between vocalising vs singing. Vocalising is just sound... reconnecting with control and comfort. Singing is emoting. And still comfortable and controlled, but in a more relaxed even disguised manner. Freedom vs chaos. Finding the sweet spot. Like in art, you have to let go to find the soul.
Ok, I am "hooked" your lessons and tips FAR surpass the majority of the videos here on You Tube. I am glad I came across your videos. Thank you for your talents and sharing them!!
B R I L L I A N T !! You explain well about the pitching being between the two registers. Like you say, too when talking about chest and head voice. The transition seems to just happen. I sometimes think - not just with singing techniques - but with a lot of things, that the more you actually THINK about what you should do or how you should do it, the result can be poor, rather than letting nature take its course for want of a better phrase. I may not have expressed myself very well here, but I know what I mean!
Oh this is so lovely ❤️ ! These are some of the most basic and the most ignored things that we singers tend to forget (and end up never doing). Thank you so much Sir, for putting these together so nicely.
Thanks for your videos! I used to sing a lot as a kid and teenager, but then for some reason stopped singing for 9 whole years. Now I just signed up for beginner singing lessons, but even before the lessons I need to start the training already, and your tips and tutorials are really helpful. I honestly thought my voice was gone for good but it's slowly coming back. :)
I started with humming it as softly as I could, then one round each of vocalising, softly, then with volume. 3 days ago (when I started), getting to the top was strenuous. But not today ^_^
that's a good idea to start with humming - I am going to try that - thanks. Did you find that, as you went up to the higher notes it became more difficult to clearly keep the different vowel sounds? I'm putting this down to the fact that I have been in the habit of supporting my higher notes with my diaphragm and pushing more air through - now that I am trying to keep relaxed and not force it the sounds are less stable.
Hello Mr. Mark! Am so glad to see you again. I have a request video. Could you please do one for 'Acid Reflux' and care and precaution around it, just like you did some for allergies and singing with a cold! That would be amazing!! (I've had such a horrible time dealing with acid reflux and allergies, and I feel more singers are prone it now than ever (environment, stress, lifestyle?).. It would be enlightening for us all)

@Ralph Ahmed I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Mr. Mark, do you have any good videos to refer me to, or do you have any ideas on and about starting notes strong, well and correctly? I believe the term I am seeking to describe is "glottal closure" or something along those lines. The idea here is sometimes I feel like the immediate, very first clapping of my vocal cords comes on the wrong note. I can reach the notes I want, but sometimes, normally in fatigue and more so at the extremes of my own range, I feel like I'm not getting the note I am really intending to get when I first start singing. Is it a technique thing or maybe more so a finesse thing that develops with time, practice, patience? Any insight is highly sought after, and as always, I sincerely thank you for your time. All the best.
Use a K as a prefix and try this : ua-cam.com/video/kr5mx68yUrY/v-deo.html. If the issue only happens on extremely low or high notes - it's that there's too much tension surrounding the note.
@@voicelessondotcom Thank you kindly! I will incorporate this into my routine starting today. noted, about beginning notes with a "Kah" noise. Further, I will aim to alleviate tension and to be mindful of tensing up when I vocalize. The goal is to strive for independence of my vocal folds from my throat muscles. I don't want to engage my throat muscles; doing this is counterproductive in vocalizing. I'll use a mirror to help ensure I am not tensing up. Many thanks Mr. Baxter. I appreciate it all so much. Have a great day!
That's amazing thank you I have a question.. When i sing first every thing go perfect But after like 2 songs i lose control and my voice start to be annoying! What should i do this is really important??
Again - it's not an amount of time that indicates you're warmed up - it's a feeling. If you can easily vocalize through the register change and if you can create volume without neck, jaw and facial muscles joining in then I'd say you're ready to sing.
I've been doing the warm up exercises before going to the chorus and they have made a great difference in my voice not been tired easily. Still, after 2 hours of singing (unfortunately partly shouting to cover up wrong pitches of others....) my voice becomes very tired and a veil starts to come over the cords. I am now going to try to use the same warm up exercises as "cool down" exercises, after the singing, in case these will help bring the cords back in a good condition. I got the idea from the humming that we should do after the singing. Is that a good idea? If so maybe you can create a "cooling down" exercise video! :D
Best idea is to start your cool down with the low volume humming or straw phonation and then work down scales from your highest comfortable note through your transition like this (until things are smooth) ua-cam.com/video/OK9hWvy8uNw/v-deo.html
You can't feel your vocal folds - so what you're feeling are the neighboring muscles. The goal is to reduce your effort until you don't feel much at all when singing.
Hi Mark. Please could you do a YOU TUBE video of singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. I will record it and we can do a duet. I have ben practicing every morning with you: Good Morning Voice! (Singer's Warmup) - so that I can sing Happy Birthday to my friends and family but I am old now and my voice is getting croaky. I also need my voice to read 'Newspapers For The Blind'. Wanda Nowicki Because AH is the most exposed. EE and OO have some help managing the air pressure because the lips and tongue are involved. Not so for AH. So go slowly into AH asking for the same clarity that OO provided. You'll get it.

HEEY PLS HELP ME!! I have a question: I'm 16 ( male ) and I'm in puberty yet.. I feel that I lost some high notes... Can you help me? What I have to do??
Lukas Mateus The loss of high notes is because your larynx has gotten bigger (that's what puberty does). Your feet have gotten bigger too. You may trip once in a while because you aren't used to your larger foot size but you know that's only temporary. If you allow you voice to go into the upper register (falsetto) you can relearn how to sing those high notes. If you choke off your voice because you're embarrassed to crack then those high notes will not be available. Don't be afraid to crack and keep visiting falsetto when you sing. You'll some it out in time.
Voice Lesson.com oooh thankk you ;D But I want to learn how to sing high notes in full voice too... Not only in falsetto... I wanna sing high just like Bruno Mars, John Legend for example...
Stop singing. Then after you stop hurting - start again with simple sounds. There are many videos on this channel to lead you through a better approach. Your voice should never hurt!
Allow at least one hour to pass after waking and eating. Then a gentle warm up exercise for 15 minutes. Then wait an hour. Then a more challenging voice exercise (without pain). Then after waiting two hours you do a gentle warm up again and sing songs.
