How to paint GOLD TOP Les Paul

  • In this video I will show you how to paint Les Paul in Goldtop colors. This principle of painting appeared in 1952 from the very beginning of the production of the Lespol model and is still used in the reprints of this legend. Working with paint based on bronze powder assumes that the preparation of the top is taken seriously, as gold paint reveals the slightest defects in the preparation of the wood. Since I plan to age this guitar in the future, I will use some of my author's additions in the painting system. You can see the full version of this video on my Patreon by subscribing to the Maker level. There I give detailed explanations of the technology and materials used: / 58720783

@@8BombCustom Im having my Gibson Les Paul Traditional refinished by someone in the UK 🇬🇧 I tried contacting you awhile go but empathise with your difficulty dealing over here.
Can I ask you a question about him
If I am having it sprayed the exact same colour as this is in video on my guitar can I send you picture of what this person's “Gold top” finish looks like?
I think this must be just like R7 an within this colour im convinced that this does have what looks like yellow in this. I am thinking of asking what goes into mixture.
Didn't know what ask him if he worth what he says he is thank you as its much appreciated kind regards
      Thank you so kindly
      James

    • @8BombCustom

Thank you. Indeed, the top on this guitar is very beautiful, but it had one defect in the form of darkening of the wood. We originally planned to use this top for the Goldtop because of this dark streak. But in the process, I noticed that such darkening quickly fades in the sun and becomes invisible. Therefore, I used one of the following projects with a similar defect for Greenie 2.0 and now such a dark area on the maple has completely disappeared. It will be in one of the next videos.

How do you remove red over spray on a Gibson Custom Shop Guitar? Use Lacquer Thinner? or Rubbing compound? or Steel Wool? maybe a
1,000 grid sandpaper and tape off the edge from the binding? Regards, Gary (Dallas)

I own a late 1952 lester, a 69 and one from 92 and the last one made in 2005 ... my 69 unplugged beats just about any other les paul i know... i will love the idea of owning one 8Bomb , this fine gentleman nailed the essence of a good quality musical instrument... i close my eyes when i play , i don't care much about a "logo" I respect Ted McCarty and not that much Les Paul himself...I respect this guy talent at making fine musical instruments.

I didn't like wak lay down the first layer. After erasing, it works as a filler for the smallest maple pores. This way I can apply thinner layers in the future.
