  • This time I decided to repaint my working guitar Stephanie Burst... for the third time. She has an interesting history and there are flaws that I want to correct. And of course it will be a relic, during which I will come up with a couple of new ways of aging.
    The full version of this video, with a detailed explanation of each step of the work, is on my Patreon in the Maker level. / 8bombcustom

    Greetings from Brasil. Awesome video and keep the good content, love all your projects. Really beautiful finish. By the way... have you ever considered making a project of a Les paul custom ? Perhaps... 50's black beauty... or even 70's alpine White ???

      Vashchenko refuses to do a five-layer binding, although I offered him several such projects 😁. But I'm focused on my clones 59, 54 and the ES-335.

    I'm new on the channel. What is the deal with the Gibson logo? The clone thing has started with the logo and you decided to not use them anymore?

    • @8BombCustom
      @8BombCustom  2 роки тому +2

      If a Gibson logo is made on such a guitar, then this is counterfeit and someone can pass off such a guitar as an original vintage copy. Unfortunately, even experienced collectors are deceived in this way.

    • @rogeriocosta1035
      @rogeriocosta1035 2 роки тому +1

      @@8BombCustom I know that you don't want to make counterfeits, but it had a Gibson logo before you started to work on it? That part that I did not understand.

      @@8BombCustom By the way, may it would be better to change all the veneer on the head or sand a little bit to add a thin veneer over it. The wood insert contour will probably show on the surface over the years.

    • @8BombCustom
      @8BombCustom  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, you are right. This looks strange. 😊But I will explain. Since this guitar was originally made to order by Vashchenko, and 90% of customers want the Gibson logo. Valery still does it. I have a different point of view on this issue. Initially, I wanted to replace the entire veneer, but then I thought that if the guitar sounds good in its original form, then it is better not to interfere and leave the wood in place. Therefore, I decided only on minimal intervention in the wooden structure.

    • @rogeriocosta1035
      @rogeriocosta1035 2 роки тому

      @@8BombCustom Oh, It is clear now. Thx!
      Think about the thin veneer solution. It will look strange if the gibson logo contour starts to show in the surface. Another solution could be opening a little larger pocket for the wood insert (maybe oval or in the contour of your logo), so if it starts to show (pretty sure it will), the look will not be strange.

    благодаря отчасти тебе я начал погружаться в тему винтажных гитар, и, хотя держусь концепции "играет хорошо - пиши музыку и ничего больше тебе не надо", такие видео греют душу. хотя, я сам с прибабахом, мог взять рандомную палку, а душа просила лес пол. есть во мне желание бОльшего, и я совершенно не жалею, что купил два года назад студио 2016 года. пришлось много поковыряться и сходить к мастеру, но я уверен, что таких чувств мне другая гитара не даст. пробовал у друга традишнл (традишнл хай-перфоманс, сюрреализм), и моя мне нравится больше, хотя выглядит намного проще - обычный кусок белого шоколада, была капризная, пришлось приручать :D
    но звук - мое почтение. сустейн для гипса слабоват, и в целом в гитаре огромное количество американской небрежности, но играется как по маслу.
    я даже в последнее время стал любителем реликов. ну, правда, естественных, не вручную красиво испорченных, а годами игры и концертов)
    хотя с моей акууратностью это долго времени не займет)
    спасибо за видео, приятное, вайбовое, кто досюда дочитал - совет: берите гитару сердцем, гитару нужно хотеть 😎

    • @8BombCustom

      Epifon does not change colors because the dyes are lightfast. The color can only be changed by a complete repaint.

    So there is a veneer on the headstock that is actually made of wood from a holly tree?

    • @8BombCustom
      @8BombCustom  Рік тому +1

      Yes. Exactly. Holly has a very even and smooth texture. Very wet density and elasticity. This veneer protects and strengthens the head from breaking, as the mahogany fibers on the head are at an angle and cannot effectively hold the string tension on their own. The glued "ears" on the sides of the headstock perform the same function.
