Finally see what this guitar is going to look like. Watch the entire series here: • Gibson Les Paul Studio... Check out the progress pics here: / woodeso_guitar_mods
Nelson..........Incredibly done work sir!!!!! That gold top on Crimson red looks great, great choice, and with the hardware......No doubt in my mind, she will be a great guitar! Can't wait to see her finished. Good times, Good video
Looks good but oh my god look at the orange peel when the light strikes it. Ouch. Let it cure for a week or 3 and then buff the bastard out. Will come up pretty good.
I saw the IG photos and was dying to get home to see this. Great vision for bringing this one back. BTW... I would have TOTALLY bought that guitar for $500+ before the resto. Wish I lived in your neck of the woods.
It appears a lot darker gold than standard. But it does look awesome. And regarding the ebony look finger board. Try staining it with computer printer ink, then seal it in with linseed oil. I have had great results with using that technique.
Holy shit brother that's amazing work! Like your friend said it has that aged look in color and exterior but also it looks brand new! Vuggin awesome dude!
I don't think you could have sold the guitar period before the restoration, especially not for $400.00 bucks. Love this group of vids Nelson. Think I've watched this 3 times already. Great job.
Great job Nelson. Are you sure you want to put a pick guard on it? Would look mighty nice without it. Anyway, congrats and love watching you enjoy doing stuff
Hey I'm new to your channel and new sub also here from Quebec ! May I ask what brand of gold brake caliper paint this is ? Thanks Got lots of catching up to do on your channel and projects so I'll see you in another one .
Rob you do a beautyful jobon all of. the guitars that you work on. been watching about 6 months realy like your viedos do you ever get any jass boxes to work on phone num usa 330 730 6735
Looks great Nelson! I'm going to be looking for a house with workshop where i can spray without gassing out the family, moving next month (few hours away from pXn Emerica in Alberta) Keep those vids coming, amazing how different this looks from original.
Question.. would I be able to nitro paint after I've rubbed the natural wood with tung oil???? Will it not take??? I'm basically doing the exact this but with a kit build. Definitely want a high gloss
hey bud one major problem you mite run into with drop filling the primer is 1if it isn't catalized primer it will continue to shrink for weeks next time youse some of the auto body cat. putty coat its like super smooth bondo it wont shrink and spot prime the area and skuff it than your good to go .
Duplicolor has been evil for me. I hope it all works for you. The last thing I did with duplicolor came out beautiful, then weeks down the road it went to shit. Pretty sure the paint didn't fully cure and the clear trapped it in. Being calliper paint, how long does the can say to let it dry for? I'd at least double that before clear to be safe.
pXn Emerica You have to do many coats very light. Let each coat dry properly. When spraying with rattle cans the main thing is patients. Your last coat can be very wet...just watch for runs. As for clear coat don't bother with arcylic lacquer. Go to nappa auto and buy max 2k. Make sure you use a good respirator. Trust me you won't be disappointed and you'll never worry about the finish melting every time it touches something. Even your neck plate will melt and sink into the finish.
Came here after purchasing a used LP Studio yesterday. I’ve learned so much from this series, but the number one shocking fact that I learned is that Canadians say the “F” word! 😳 Nicest people I’ve ever served. (Bartender, Vegas)
take it from a paint sprayer, there is nothing wrong with you work.youre masking tape is nasty invest a little bit more also 2inch tape would help, also if you go to a car paint supplier you can get nozzles for cans with a fan pattern that helps immensly.great work
FaithsFallen and all you other knockers - wait until the job is totally finished before passing hateful comments. I have three Gibson guitars including a Custom Shop Class 5 Les Paul and none of them has a great quality of finish. As I said wait to see what is like when finished. No way it could look worse than it did before the work started. Don't be put off Nelson.
Good lord... refinishing a les paul with tru-oil and break caliper paint... That guitar needs a nitrocellulose finish. Funny when he says "You tripled its value!" Umm, no...
My gold top 60's Les Paul was getting worn, and the green undercoat was showing through. Too many goldtops now don't have the depth and are too silvery
Hey @Woodeso's Guitar Mods PLEASE READ! I Love you videos, lets get that out of the way first. But listening to your breathing, I am inclined to ask if you have gone to the doctor lately. I do not wish to scare you, but you should have your heart checked! Kind regards, Your Friendly Neighbourhood Medic
You do realize any original guitar refinish cuts value almost in half... Maybe if refinished in nitro as it left the factory... I have no problem doing that to my $100.00 Epi but never a real Gibson... It does look better and I'll do it to my "chiwanese" model..
He's goofy he was on another video called a chinese strat or mexican strat an american strat then it shows the head with one string tree american fenders always have 2 string trees....always.
Saw this on Instagram. Blew my mind you went with gold top. Amazing choice. Especially with the cherry back.
I totally agree and I like it a lot.

The anticipation of the finished product is killing me!! Amazing job man!!
Looking really great. I'm glad you're going with the 50's black plastics. 👍🏻
Huh. I'm watching this and realize I'm looking at you redoing MY guitar. I live in Ottawa and bought this guitar a couple of years ago. Cool.
Looks good but oh my god look at the orange peel when the light strikes it. Ouch. Let it cure for a week or 3 and then buff the bastard out. Will come up pretty good.
Off white pickguard would look better too...

I thought I was the only guy that used brake caliper paint on guitars until today, nicely done
Any brand is there a brand to look for? Fixing to redo a LP i want gold top. thx
what is the true oil ??
Holy shit brother that's amazing work! Like your friend said it has that aged look in color and exterior but also it looks brand new! Vuggin awesome dude!
Great job Nelson - I am enjoying the series very much!
watching this videos are so peaceful to me a man working on his his axe can't get any better then that
Looks amazing! Great job so far. I'm really enjoying watching the process.
Fantastic job Nelson, you've brought a slightly ruined guitar back to life, that LP looks the biz again now.
Looks identical to my Goldtop I did! Mines a 3 pickup one as I thought a 3 Humbucker Goldtop with cream hardware would be one of a kind!
Looks great man! Can't wait for the end result
This is looking so sweet! I'm so jealous and I have an Epi 56 Goldtop and an LPJ Goldtop. Great job!
You can keep all those highly flamed tops. The Goldtop will always be my favourite.
I saw a gold strat a while back, and I remember thinking how bad it looked. Goldtop Les Pauls however, look awesome. Well done.
What a fucking outstanding finish, well done
I don't think you could have sold the guitar period before the restoration, especially not for $400.00 bucks. Love this group of vids Nelson. Think I've watched this 3 times already. Great job.
I think we're all dying to see it put together.
Use BONDO on that screw hole you mangled. Always use bondo on and holes or dents providing you are covering it with paint.
Nice job Can't wait to see it all done!!!
can I suggest new lights above your workbench so you can see the paint finish better.
Great job Nelson. Are you sure you want to put a pick guard on it? Would look mighty nice without it. Anyway, congrats and love watching you enjoy doing stuff
Liked to thank you for the video, gave me a perspective on putting on a gold top on my Les Paul 🙂

Got lots of catching up to do on your channel and projects so I'll see you in another one .
Great looking Guitar, Great Job.

Rob you do a beautyful jobon all of. the guitars that you work on. been watching about 6 months realy like your viedos do you ever get any jass boxes to work on phone num usa 330 730 6735
Beautiful! Great job!
Will sell for an easy 1200? No way, not for a refinished guitar. Looks great, nevertheless. Just curious; for how much did it sell?
Nice, wish my 76 Deluxe looked that pretty.
The LP is looking great and 1,000 times better than the POS finish it had before refinishing.
Looks great Nelson! I'm going to be looking for a house with workshop where i can spray without gassing out the family, moving next month (few hours away from pXn Emerica in Alberta) Keep those vids coming, amazing how different this looks from original.
A professional does not need to swear.
Not a restoration
That is the worst masking tape you could use. That dollar store crap will only cause you grief.
Looks great!
miss your videos bro

looks great

That looks rough bud . Definitely needs a couple coats of real lacquer and a sand and polish !
I'm gonna take a shot every time he says smooth. Talk to ya tomorrow.
Wizzle did you survive?
Haha do you use the gator grip picks alot ? I cant move away from the 96mm one lol
GREAT JOB!!
Great work! Come the the USA and hang out!!
Have a question... Can I apply the scratch filler to an old tennis racket, qich have paint chips, big scratches, before painting it?
Duplicolor has been evil for me.
I hope it all works for you. The last thing I did with duplicolor came out beautiful, then weeks down the road it went to shit.
Pretty sure the paint didn't fully cure and the clear trapped it in.
Being calliper paint, how long does the can say to let it dry for? I'd at least double that before clear to be safe.
Can says 7 days? Make it 14 or more, or the clear will probably wrinkle over time. Damn enamel.
pXn Emerica You have to do many coats very light. Let each coat dry properly. When spraying with rattle cans the main thing is patients. Your last coat can be very wet...just watch for runs. this guitar is gonna be so sweet ;)
ah man! looks good!
looks beautiful but 2 coats of will protect the gold top
both cans are "perfect match"?
What paint you use for a gold top satin finish
take it from a paint sprayer, there is nothing wrong with you work.youre masking tape is nasty invest a little bit more also 2inch tape would help, also if you go to a car paint supplier you can get nozzles for cans with a fan pattern that helps immensly.great work
is this restoration going to affect the tone ?
man that is going to be like my woman, a real beauty 👌
Could you please let me know the color number of duplicolor?

You need to go with a cream pickguard... :)
nitro or death
Good lord... refinishing a les paul with tru-oil and break caliper paint... That guitar needs a nitrocellulose finish. Funny when he says "You tripled its value!" Umm, no...
eggbert77, that's totally true. But what the Hell, that guitar total crap! It turned out so nice.
My gold top 60's Les Paul was getting worn, and the green undercoat was showing through. Too many goldtops now don't have the depth and are too silvery
No refinish, no matter how nice, will make a studio worth $1,200. $500 at most.
Dulpicolor is a lacquer. Acrylic Laquer. Not nitro.
fuckin nice woody..your awesome..and nuts .I like you
Well i shure hope u never listen to the guy @ 12.40 yea just leave it.. its done..guy knows nowt about finishing. Its got to cleared !
That same guy also said finish the fretboard with sharpie to make it look like ebony... don't get that at all
spray é ? vai durar uns 1'5 dias
Hy the paint code is 151 gold?
Has this been confirmed? Dude doesn’t reply. I’m trying to find this color
Spray can paint ??!! , ......really...??!!
Orange peel city. Good lord, who would want this hack fucking up your guitar? Rattle cans for a finish? LOL
Well not always but most of them have 2

Just use auto clear coat
You do realize any original guitar refinish cuts value almost in half...

black pick guard??? noooooooooooooooooo
I'm not a big fan of voice calls anymore.
so much orange peel .. ?? how is this great , it looks like a shocker,
Good video and nice work but oh my virgin ears! Too much cussing!
Não gostei dessa pintura ficou porosa não ficou com um aspecto agradável
Guitar is looking great but the brag conversation with your buddy is really annoying and not to mention it wasted over half the video.
He's goofy he was on another video called a chinese strat or mexican strat an american strat then it shows the head with one string tree american fenders always have 2 string trees....always.
SHITTY LES PAULs?? WTF??
Hi man, what paint did u use for it?
Looks Great
