The Beatles once toured as an opening act to Roy Orbison in England, before they were world famous. Certainly he was an influence on them. and perhaps they were on him....about 1 and 1/2 years later in Fall 1964, Orbison released Pretty Woman, with a Beatles/Liverpool band style guitar riff, that on a twelve string guitar, and it went straight to #1.
Also, I just love the way you move to the music. It almost always reminds me of the same way that I move when I think about playing this music as a musician or something. Or at any rate it really resonates with me that's for sure.
Roy could sing, no doubt. He had a big range. This was way before he joined up to form the Traveling Wilburys. Your expression when he showed his range was worth a million. Keep smiling.
It makes sense. His voice is so lovely and I liked the surprises he put into the arrangement of the song. Cim thanks for reacting to music because without this, I hardly could have listened to some of the songs I have heard on this channel. So thanks 👍 Hmm, make good music.... We ought to leave a good legacy to speak for us when we're gone. Oldies are my best.
"oh pretty woman" Excellent choice and reactions!! One other song by Roy that I think you'd like is "Crying" which is my favorite Roy Orbison song!! Happy New Year and Let's hope it's a good one without any fear (John Lennon)!!
Seek out the BLACK & WHITE LIVE version - because it IS 'live' without the recording-studio's over production on so many of his songs. ua-cam.com/video/5jjhWpYs1Rs/v-deo.html
"The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways \ Like a vision, she dances across the porch as the radio plays \ Roy Orbison singing for the lonely \ Hey, that's me, and I want you only \ Don't turn me home again \ I just can't face myself alone again..." --"Thunder Road", Bruce Springsteen (1975) Springsteen kicked off his 1975 breakthrough album, Born To Run, with a nod to Roy Orbison's "Only the Lonely". Iconic! Roy Orbison peaked before I was born, but he enjoyed a revival in the eighties when I was a teenager beginning with Van Halen's cover of "Oh, Pretty Woman" in 1982 and David Lynch's use of "In Dreams" in his 1984 film Blue Velvet and culminating with The Traveling Wilburys in the year before his death. His signing voice is superb in all the songs I sent you, but skip to "Crying" if you want to hear him hit the really high notes.
You had some very interesting and positive thoughts about sometimes songs like this can signal to other people that you've been through it and you might be able to understand what they are going through. There are a lot of great songs like this. And while it deals with stuff that is heavy, like depression or possibly even suicidal thoughts, I think these songs are really important and healing. Now in the case of Roy Orbison, it's more he's just showing you his pain to let you know. But here is one of my favorite songs in this direction from one of my favorite bands, the British blues rock band Ten Years After from the late 1960s and the early 1970s. They blew up after they played Woodstock in 1969. But this song is called I've Been There Too, and it's exactly the kind of thing you're talking about. And plus like all of their stuff, it's just so interesting and it always turns into a great jam. Those guys were so good. I'd Love To Change The World is probably their biggest radio hit, and it's possible you may have reacted to that, I'm not entirely sure. But this is a song that is explicitly about telling people that maybe in a bad situation that there is someone there to listen and understand and help them get through a difficult time until they can see the sun again. m.ua-cam.com/video/lWI4qhDT-5w/v-deo.html
m.ua-cam.com/users/results?sp=mAEA&search_query=roy+orbison+it%27s+over This is another early Roy Orbison which showcases his range. "It's Over" is not even quite 3 minutes long but it is just extraordinarily beautiful and poignant.

What a voice. Inspired a generation of singers that came in the 60s.

Great reaction. You’re very perceptive Cimdy. Carry on beautiful. Take care. 😊
Great Reaction
Your reactions to these songs is excellent 👍👏🥰
More Roy Orbison pls
Yeah, Roy had a great voice that perfectly complimented his soulful tunes.
Also, I just love the way you move to the music. It almost always reminds me of the same way that I move when I think about playing this music as a musician or something. Or at any rate it really resonates with me that's for sure.
You should definitely do Crying. Both his solo version and KD Lang's solo version. Both masterful.
Maybe check out Roy's song "In Dreams" - my fave of his...
HEY YOU!!! 😊 HERE'S MORE CIM : PRETTY WOMAN, CRYING, YOU GOT IT 😊 THERE YA GO, ENJOYYYYY!
Its never a mistake to listen to Roy released in 1960, was 28 years before the Travelin Wilbury's
Hi Cimdy. I always have loved this great tune. You are so right about the music from the past! Thank you ❤

There were so many groups , solo singers and song writers in 60s 70s . You must try Carol King . It's Too Late Baby . She was singer song writer

Great review Cim ❤

Cindy, all the songs from the fifties and sixties were fairly short. If you like Roy Orbison, check out You've Got It and Pretty Woman.
2.5 minutes and out for radio play. Not until "like a rolling stone" did long form songs become common. (album oriented rock and college stations)

Do a review of Roy Orbison’s “Oh Pretty Woman”. I’m quite certain he wrote it about you.
Here's the entire BLACK & WHITE CONCERT, and his 'hits' are in separate UA-cam tracks:

By the way, when Paul sings to Cimdy (and all the other gals from 1963 on), only Roy makes me think he'd have the same charm on her grin and eyes.
The Beatles favorite singer. Only Little Richard had a bigger impact in the rocker songs. Roy had a very sad personal life. This song is very old.
if he sings too long, he wont be lonely anymore
I always there with you visit me also
Nice song please sis return the love I will appreciate it thanks
