  • Highly recommend! Worth the money. 9/10 ease of use. 4/10 durability. Shawn at Rotorquest hooked up this ImmersionRC Vortex for me at the Fat Shark Frenzy Canadian Drone nationals. Decided to make a review on it because a lot of people told me it was a bad idea to buy it because it was so delicate. It is very delicate BUT its still REALLY great so here's a bit of video of me explaining it!

    I've had the Vortex 250 Pro for about a week and it's immediately become my favorite quad. The IRC OSD is fantastic, it's durable as hell, and it's basically a standard mini quad you can swap out parts on easily.

      +TheEvilnezz Thanks I highly recommend it if you can afford it. Even just so that you can see the different flight styles from the PIDs

    Great video. Helped me decide to go for this as a starter quad, and excellent reference to upgrades to make it more durable!

    I have no problem with the LED, they are super bright and easy to spot when flying behind it :) Indeed when you use some colors like white or purple they become less viable, but the colors red green or blue are easy to follow in my opinion.

      So are you saying not to but this vortex? I'm might be able to get it used for 250 with the spare parts. Is that worth it?

    You can get metal/Aluminum upgrades for the Vortex to stop the arms from folding in on Ebay plus motor upgrade too,just type in Immersion Vortex in the Ebay search engine and they should show up.

    Chiming in here, I got the Vortex 250 Pro and it's like ludicrously durable. I have been crashing the ever-loving piss out of it and it does nothing more than break props and keep on flying. I've had to clean some dirt out of the motors, that's about it so far, and I've taken some beast crashes with it. -Cheers

    They make anodized aluminum motor mounts,lockers for the arms as well as thicker bumpers and a hand full of other aftermarket parts that actually take a hit. Not expensive ether. it's like a car,you went out and got your self a wrx yes, but a stock one. See what I mean?now it's time for upgrades lol. Not knocking you by the way, thumbs up! It takes people finding out what need attention so company's can make aftermarket parts and guys like you and me can load there vortex up with them lol.If not for videos like this one. I wouldn't have looked in to any of them. Also they are better then a car in one way ,the most expensive upgrade for me so far was about 40 bucks! And I have added a Rx protecter ,go pro recliner, thicker front bumper with anodized red aluminum standoffs, custom side plates with my name, the anodize red aluminum motor mounts, anodize red aluminum lockers for the arms. Ebay,there's vortex stores lol

    I picked up one of these now that they are $329 at Get FPV and RMRC. I figured it would be good to learn on. At the time $500 was just way too much for me to justify lol. Kinda like the 250Pro...

    Would this be a good stunt quad with rolls and front & back flips? not so much into speed but more of stunts and I like the folding arms for portability.

    Almost two years later, do you think this quad is still worth it? These are selling for $200 in the US and I'm considering buying one.

    Is this still good in 2018? I found the 285 vortex ARF with crash pack for $159w/free shipping. is that a good deal or is cleanflight outdated r is anything else useless now? Thanks a million for sharing.

    • @mightyducttapefpv4701

    Hey dude I was looking at quads. I learned on a nano qx to fly without any format of auto level. I was looking at the next step. I was looking at the vortex or the qav 250. I want a super easy one that I can bring places and fly around for fun. not racing. maybe make a few videos of flying through small areas. I also wanted on that was close to done as possible. I have a dx5 as a controller and would want something I could pair up to that. which do u recommend or are there others that u think I should look into. thanks

    Do you have any tips for audio input? If not, doesn't the lack of sound throw you off? I have an immersion in its box, with a fatshark attitude. I'm waiting on a lemonrx because I have a dx7 with an incompatible transmitter, but while waiting I thought to myself that it would be a much better experience with some audio. Already bought some mini Mics, but need to find the right way to hook it up

    • @mightyducttapefpv4701
      @mightyducttapefpv4701  9 років тому

      +Sal Mastropolo when you're racing with other people there are so many other sounds going on that you kinda just need to learn to let go of the sound. I love the sound but sometimes its gotto be all visual

    • @salmastropolo1642
      @salmastropolo1642 9 років тому

      +Mighty Ducttape FPV that's interesting! I'm nowhere near racing levels, but that can make a lot of sense. I envision two muffled speakers on both sides to experience surround sound. I have the immersion rc vortex. I plugged a 1.0mm 3 pin picoblade into the 5 pin "ext tx" port. I spliced "audio L and audio R together, and then powered the mini microphone from the battery itself. Doing this I was able to hear sound, but I also heard some crazy interference. I then realized that the camera connected to the "flight cam" deck was causing interference. I disconnected it, and tried again. This time I only heard a less intrusive, high pitch hum, along with audio.
      I did this using the immersion rc 600mw TX with 100% success, with no high pitch hum. Do you have any pointers for me? Should I try using a 5 pin pico blade to connect both the cam and the microphone? Also, I would only be able to power one because the port on the extension is only 5 volts. Not many people can follow this, u can!

      +Sal Mastropolo yea some f550 frames. used to use them for flying a sony nex5r on a 2 axis gimbal but ended up getting a phantom because its just so much easier for work. I get more footage, dont work as hard and everything is so integrated.

      +Mighty Ducttape FPV +Mighty Ducttape FPV I've been eyeing the dji 550 for a while now! How do you like it? I heard you about the dji though... I decided to have a hand at building a micro fpv quadcopter that really makes some speed (130mm from MMW), I'm gonna make a video about it once enough parts come in..

    That's too much "suring up" to really make it race'able and durable. And for $450, I think it's not worth it. Even with the easy customization at the field. Sky hero anakin, here I come!

      +ATCr I get what you're saying BUTTT I honestly don't have time to dick around with building something from scratch then spending a ton of time tuning it (ton of time because I'm not really that good at PID tuning it turns out). SO for me a RTF quad (that I know how to repair because i've been building quads for years) is SOOOO worth it
