Thank you for the video, I don't upgrade my stuff all the time and have to teach myself how to do it all over again, videos like this make the process so easy. There is one step that I do that you may or not need to do, (maybe, depending on the level of update) I perform a backup of my configuration and restore it after the updates. I fly spektrum and use my throttle cut switch to arm and disarm the motors, so I have a few custom settings, also my flight modes are arranged a little different. This one extra step my be helpful to others that have a bunch of custom settings. Thanks again for the video!

I have the Horizon 250pro and I was surprised that they did not have a more comprehensive flashing video...in fact nobody has a better video on this subject...(for a beginner).. this is step by step and it worked perfectly! Cheers
Thanks for the vid man. Just got both osd and fc upgraded. Cleanflight took a few trys and kept failing and getting stuck in a loop with those beeps while flashing but no progress In the bar. Now just trying to figure out how to add arming and airmode to a switch on my transmitter.
I would be interested in that vid. Iv'e subscribed since you other vortex vid before, good stuff.

Yep, worked like a charm... no issue w/ either update. You know you can change the startup beep within the OSD? There's 3 tones, Imperial March, Super Mario and Simple Beep. Super Mario was fun for the first 3 times, then I went back to the Simple Beep. =)
Nevermind! Worked on my 4th re-powerup.

Great video! This helped me out a ton! I do have a question off topic and that is, where did you get that GoPro protector? I've needed something like that since my props put gouges into the side of my hero 4.
You da man Michael! Do you still have to set the endpoints on your Taranis with this new firmware? You know those 4 channels you changed from 100 to 97.8 in your previous video?
Nice tutorial. Thanks for the video. I have a question not related to your tutorial but hopefully you can help me. I have the vortex 285. If I do a betaflight upgrade, do I choose the option full chip erase before flashing? Won't I loose the osd and pro tunes?

Hi whats the main difference between the updated vs the non update,vortex 250 pro.I'm a bit scared to update mine I'm not that good in computer..I just to fly out of the box..thanks nice vid.
Mine does bind with the reciever but then i turn on the drone and i cant use the transmitter to get past the setup screen

so maybe I'm missing something insanely obvious, but where can I find the software to install this firmware? i have the Chrome app Vortex Congfigurator, but it wont connect to my Vortex, and Ive been completely at a loss to find anything that will install the firmware
How come when I run Immerision Tool to update the OSD the FW does not show up?, but yet it is downloaded onto my computer??? it is like it's not recognizing the firmware.
I see you have the taranis are you using the d4rII receiver? if soo where u mounted it?
awesome video ! what does the new firmware do as for upggrades , this video helped me big time ! having a problem with video , when uploading video from fatshark dominator hd v2 there is a beeeping or signal in video , just curious on how i can get rid of it ! mahalos
I have the same problem with Status: STM32 - timed out, programming: FAILED, but it seems everything is still working, but I would feel more comfortable knowing if I can be finished the process correctly. any suggestion on how to complete this?
When I started flashing ( at 4:20 in vid) I got no bar movement and a message saying "Communication with Bootloader failed". Now what?

+Michael Rosenberg i binded my vortex and ran the wizard and everything was fine, accidentally press the button next to the LEDs and now it stopped transmitting video any idea on how i can fix this?
what betaflight do I need for the vortex 250 pro ? there are 30 of them on the git hub site , how do I actually make betaflight go on my computer once I select the proper one?thank you could not find anything on youtube explaining how to install the program on the computer thank you
Cannot get my vortex 250 pro to connect via USB. Loaded the software and drivers, tried multiple mini USB cords and 4 different PCs. No joy. I read about pressing the button on fusion board. Did you have to do this?

Michael Im trying to get the latest betaflight 2.5.3 and folow your instructions but after loading the firmware locally and then clicking upgrade I get failure to commuicate with bootloader: upgrade failure.
Any thoughts, seems like a lot of people are having trouble
I've all but given up. Can't get the program to recognize the Vortex. I downloaded the driver, but still nothing. I keep hearing bad things about bricked systems. And many more problems after the update to either/both the OSD and FC. I should probably take it as a sign. It flies great already.

i tried using the immersion rc tool but it only shows the vortex 250
Ok, I tried this a few times and and got it updated, but I ran into an issue. "Status: STM32 - timed out, programming: FAILED" during firmware flash verification. I fixed this by changing the USB baud rate to 115200. Well, now I can bind to my Spektrum RX, but it will not arm or change modes. Any advice? I did back up my configuration before flashing the firmware, but I don't know what to do at this point.
Why did your left rear motor never run at any time during your control checks at the end?
If you look closely, it does spool up
Ok I updated it and it was fine now I went to reset the wizard on the led board but not sure how long I held it down! Now I'm having trouble binding and it seems like my receiver on my quad doesn't light up orange either to bind. Now it just beeps every 3 seconds or so! Could you please help me please.
+Michael Rosenberg it does nothing it still does nothing but the green lower left led lights solid and continues to beep every 3 seconds like it's in some kind of mode!! But on the osd it says "detecting Rx ensure tx is on and Rx is bound" what does that mean?

I'm jealous. I just got my vortex 150 today but can't use it because the firmware flashing froze at 10% and "brick process" results in the same.. ;(
Where did my flight controller go? Says its 2.5.3 and now I can't change my settings.
When I try to "Flash Firmware", it says: "Failed to open serial port". Any ideas?
I've made it past this stage above. Now it says: "portFailed to communicate with Vortex Need at least Vortex fw v1.0.0.6"
I'll have time to work on it tomorrow. Found this thread that looks promising:

When you installed the CP210x drivers, did the Device Manager automatically detect the correct drivers when you plugged your Vortex 250 in or did you have to manually assign the drivers? My Device Manager does not automatically see the correct drivers once I've run the driver install application. I'm starting to think my drivers are not correct even though the Device Manager shows no errors when I plug my Vortex in.

could it be setting issue in Cleanflight ? (I reloaded my backup version of initial setting from stock , and then applied to Betaflight v2.5.3 or 2.8 , both applied but got the same result ). Thank you very much .
