Looks like some CNC aftermarket parts would make that thing a proper racer. I cannot thank you enough for this video- you hit on every concern I suspected, and provided a thorough review.
Nice video buddy. You mentioned the potential issues about the plastic parts. I was talking to my friend about them too. I really like the look of this frame and all of its intergrated components, but I feel that the plastic parts will be a little bit on the weak side. I'll be keeping an eye on this little beauty. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Be a chap and keep us posted of its durabillity.
great vid! And yea... you pronounced it right ;) hehe i did the same thing when i got the prototype... i just took it completely apart. after 30+ crashes on my prototypes... i can honestly say that ripping that SMA is the last of my concerns :) Even in crashes where the antenna caught a tree branch, and random 3-year olds picking it up by the antenna only to toss back to the ground *sigh* :)
Tobermory Cat they should add small scoops at the ends of the arms to catch some of the air movement and direct it down the arms and in to the body to help keep it cool.
Gutsy taking that apart! well done. Look like 1mm wall 14mm or smaller girley arms LOL! I tried water jet cut delrin and with bolts it pinched like that. Lexan is stiff but cracks in crashes.
Great vid Richard! I love how you buy a RTF quad and the first thing you do is to take it apart and start unsoldering things! I'm looking forward to a flight of it :)... So do the ESCs restrict you to 5030 propellers?
supermattJD Yeah he's got some big ole balls to do that hasn't he Matt because i know i wouldn't,mind you he know what he's doing, not sure if he's lost his warranty or not now though. ;-)
I don't know how he can walk with them massive balls weighing him down lol... I don't think I would do it! I reckon it's still in warranty, but I'm not sure :) (just so you know I'm called lewis... I have a bit of a misleading name :D)
Note that the vertical PCB mount antennas are much better than the side mount ones, strength-wise. I use them on the VTxs I build and I've never broken one. The RF design on IMRC products is awful though.
Hi, I think that metal strip that holds the VTX down is also having some heat sink purpose? I think so otherwise it seems a strange length to go to just hold things together. They fly well these but I can't get over the looks, shallow I know lol
It looks like you angled the motors forward there at the end. If you did, did you have to change any of the PID values? And also how did you make sure that they were all evenly tilted?
Do you know why different color of lights would be blinking inside the quad on the main board? Or does yours do that? I'm afraid I don't have something setup right. 😬 Thanks!
Hello. Please i was wondering if you could answer this question. If i wanted to import a runner 250 from hobbyking to London, UK, what would the customs duty cost me?
Would I be able to use a DSMX dx5e for the vortex? If so can anyone recommend me a receiver? Or would it just be worthwhile and easier to get a Taranis X9D and D4R-II?
The plastics on this quad is for braking them only.its obvious its cheap :) In a crash with the vortex you will only break the plastics , I think its good ;)

Looks good! I definitely agree that LED's on the back are a must when flying with others.
Looks like bits will break very easy on that 🔧

love your work man... keep it up.. am still waiting on mine. it will be my first quad. as ive maily been involved with tricopter builds
Nicely done. Very informative. Looking forward for more of your videos.

some cute ideas. Like the metal spring clip on the video tx - helps to dissipate heat. Unsure about the escs buried within the arms - retaining heat.

that's a great idea!... i think im gonna dremal out some slots and do that.
love it! it looks an absolutely brilliant piece of kit.

Thanks for this. Honestly the mechanical build quality is not as good as I expected. All those flimsy plastic parts!
This has got to be the cleanest racing quad out there. any others that you know of??
Cant wait for a full review :)

supermattJD This is what the Manual says
Power Train
Standard Prop- Gemfan 5030
Upgrade Prop - HQ 5040
Maximum Prop Size 6"
Oh right, thanks :D

Looking good, can not wait for mine to arrive... lol :D
I normally never request videos, But you should really compare the gemini and the vortex. I would greatly appreciate it.

Jerome tested mine aswell;-)

Plz tell me this is this just ready to fly nice vid
Is this the entry level motors version right??
i have different motors and clips that protects the led board...
Can you program the ESC's through the main USB port? Just wondering what kind of firmware the ESC's are running and how you upgrade them.
they only thing I can say is if you brake them side plastic with vortex on them I think you will need more then just the plastic
Is that severe lag i'm seeing at 5:18 or did you just not sync the PIP overlay properly?
i can use my teleporters right? im buying it tomorrow if i can
Do you happen to know whether the ESC's have a bec or are opto?
Does it have a distribution board or is it one price with the frame?
vich motors you used? Cobra or..?
Can it accept any esc or has to be one of those sense one
Esc burnt out....where can i get the replacemet part?
Is that a VORTEX!!!!!!!!!
Would you ever sell it??
Wherein can buy one of them ?
O dear dont like antenna position and there a couple of quality issues think it would take the fun out of fpv racing
Would I be able to use a DSMX dx5e for the vortex? If so can anyone recommend me a receiver? Or would it just be worthwhile and easier to get a Taranis X9D and D4R-II?
what F.C. is in this kit?
the diameter of the pipe carboxylic
As soon as I saw you pull it from the packaging by the power leads, I knew this channel wasn't for me.
I really dislike when they use plastic. Especially for products like these.
It doesn't look very strong...
too much plastic. too many parts, too much money. I don't get it tbh. especially for those that have already built their own
+doluseb You can 3D print one for 10 bucks. Of course without the electronics.
+doluseb quality is not cheap folk!!!
