Hi mate, really enjoyed your review 👍 you earned a sub 🫡
How much were you paid off to praise this game?
The games complete trash. How much did Flop Howard pay you ? You make me embarrassed to be an Australian
Play The Outer Worlds!!!!
Your passion and excitement are exciting man! I love this! We have decades of gameplay here!
I really appreciate lore channels giving game reviews. It feels like we are on a much closer wavelength with how we want our games and what we want our games to be.
I agree most of the other game reviews are about how quick they can finish it etcetera but no one actually talks about how enjoyable it is
@@daggermouth4695right! I've seen so many people complaining that every square inch isn't filled with random bullshit 🤦 people should really only pay attention to reviews from people with similar views on games
He lied, Game is SHIT
These are the worst channels for reviews honestly because they are much more susceptible to the honeymoon period bias. In reality this game is mid so far. 7/10, lots of clunky creation engine jank in here too.
I'll be here saying it's a decent bit of fun while the tide goes from "omg best game ever" to "wow this game is trash" as is the usual trend on these types of big releases
@LevattWolfheart 7 out of 10 isn't mid lol. 5 out of 10 is mid. That's what mid means
Dammit, Scott. This old Oblivion fan is now sufficiently excited to start playing tonight. Yours is the only review I was truly waiting for because I know you guys "get it" when it comes to RP.
Exactly. As an Oblivion die hard fan I was anxious about this game as Bethesda had a few rough years. Hoping this can be my modern oblivion experience
Same!
in the words of Bob le'Sponge... "I NEEED IT!!!"+
It's nothing like oblivion at all but it is a solid game so far. Nothing really amazing but very stable so far.
Oblivion? Pfft, morrowind ❤
A release like this must fill you guys with so much life like you just got years of content and ideas for hundreds of videos
I can't wait for the character build vids
Also made this review biased.
@@Peryite_the_Platypus "unbiased reviews" are for scientific papers and medical journals. Artistic media reviews are pretty much always subjective.
@@Peryite_the_PlatypusEeeeh, as long as it's not fanboy bias and just an opinion from a specific perspective that can actually be backed up, there's nothing wrong with it
Idk I kind of doubt he is going to care about Starfield lore.
It's probably not very deep or unique

You mean thank God the Todd Howard it's good😂
Eh, idk, I like fudgemuppet but they're a tad fanboyish, I'd watch more reviews than just this one
Thank Todd.
@@ChiefCrewin They were VERY skeptical of the game. In fact, lukewarm about Starfield. So I'm very surprised they liked it this much. That says a lot lol

That ledge grab the character does at 19:11 may seem like a small thing but that's a big update for Bethesda. Really cool.
Oh yeah it definitely is a small but noticable improvement
this is how little it takes for bethesda fans to be impressed
@@yamo511 lol that's fair i guess
@@yamo511 Bethesda fans when they see a feature that's been in so many other games
@@yamo511 So I guess Bethesda fans can't call out small improvements in their games? Besides, it's not like BGS has been pumping out games constantly, the last singleplayer game they dropped was 8 years ago.
Not sure if I'm more excited for Starfield or new Fudgemuppet builds? Either way this is great news!
33 hours in and it’s amazing!!!! I was skeptical as well during the trailer, but once I started playing I was blown away! Phenomenal job!
I just hit 140 hours and there is still a ton of quests to do, places to go, things to do. Just got my favorite companion, on a level 70 or so planets quest, for now and it isn't one of the main companion characters.
Hearing that you guys love it is such an amazing boost to me. Can't wait to play it!
I feel a strange sense of relief that you two gave the game a solid thumbs up. There aren't many BGS UA-camrs I would take at their word about the game's quality so your positive review means a lot. Now off to watch Drew's lore video.
Same. I think for me it’s that they were so skeptical leading in to the game. So them saying they like it is a great sign
Someone is lying ua-cam.com/video/qYYiUZ9t7gE/v-deo.html
@@Emerging95 good sign that they get payd by bethesda?
@@HavanaBobChannel nope think I
Think they enjoyed game. The big contributing factor to that enjoyment seems to be the RPG mechanics.
Most complaints I’ve seen online are people upset about loading screens, fast travel, menus, and bugs. Most praise is about the story, factions, and rpg mechanics.
Many people seem to use their ship
Purely as a fast travel point like KOTOR or outer worlds. And many people didn’t know you can explore space without going into a menu most times. As a result people feel like ships are not well done as they were expecting a more NMS or Elite style space exploration. Which is a fair criticism, I do think seamless exploration is the standard for space games right now, and I would have liked it here. Though I don’t think Starfields space exploration is bad. You can still mine for resources, fight enemies, find points of interest, and you can travel to/land on planets without very much menu time. It’s just a loading screen and a cinematic rather than an animation you can cancel if you want.
Some people really don’t like this game and that’s ok, some people think it’s ok, and some love it and that ok to. People saying they like a game doesn’t mean they were paid to say that and I see no reason to believe that’s the only reason it’s gotten good reviews. Some people really do like the game.
@@Emerging95 idk man.. seems like they too positive about this game. I may be wrong ofc.
You guys are the main ppl i was waiting for. Let the content and builds flow🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I believe the game is good. But No negatives?? Fudge, how much did they pay you?
Yeah this sounds insanely biased lol
@@MushTVyou don't put 300 hours into a game if you don't like it. I have nearly 100 hours myself, and the list of things I dislike or would have changed is longer than anybody would care to read - but it doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the game, or stop me from wanting to play it. In that regard, even if it's issues that might seem big in isolation, I consider them trivial.
Also I'm on PC, so whenever the Creation Kit comes out, I know I can change pretty much every aspect of the game to my liking, so I will happily put up with things for my first few playthroughs.
Yeah I like the game but there are multiple things that I really can't stand about it so I'm disappointed that he didn't have anything bad to say because it makes him sound less real
Why are you being such a negative nelly? It's a good game, get over it. You lost.;)
@@InZomnia365
9 months later have you used the recently released creation kit to fix the game, or did you put around 100 hours in and stop touching it because there's nothing to do once you exhaust the three major cities' quests?
As a huge sceptic post FO4 & 76, this is great to hear and provides a lot of hope for the future of Bethesda.
To be fair on the 76 thing, that was the B team, but yeah it's great they went back to a silent protag with more options like the older games.
@@kingcaesar3693 and fo4 was mainly hurt by two MAJOR issues thats frankly amazing they made it all the way to launch since they hurt both dev time and limits and the user experiance
@@blessedbow720 cope
Dont forget this is a content creator who risks missing out on a lot of money if the game is bad, and giving it a bad review might make their overlord bethesda angry.
I am normally not this sceptical, but after the praising of Diablo 4 and how unbelievably bad and empty that game turned out to be, I dont really trust shills anymore.
@Adama.1 I'll admit that that's fair but Blizzard/Activision has been scumfucking for YEEEEARS. Bethesda for all their flaws makes narrative driven experiences with lots of depth and in my opinion has only had one actual miss (maybe two) after a few decades in the business.
Quite frankly, this review is probably better than just about any out there for one reason: both of you have been pretty clear about your expectations and misgivings leading up to this moment, and went in to great detail about what you were skeptical about in Starfield. That the game has managed to not just meet, but seemingly exceed your expectations, is pretty much all I need to know. Great video as always, and very much looking forward to seeing your upcoming Starfield content for the next several years.
I found this channel after their Cyberpunk review, and they were basically one of the few channels looking past the bugs drama and looking into the actual issues with factions and RP. I like how they are articulate when it comes to actually comparing full RP systems in depth and not just whining about 1 or 2 design choices..
Definitely. It's definitely nice to hear a review from someone who loves Bethesda games for what they were and still are (apparently by judging from this review)
From where I'm sitting there's no way I could not like this game since Elder Scrolls, Fallout and No Man Sky are my 3 favorite games. This has no way of failing me at this point 😂
legacykilla is also good
ACG's review is legit too.
Dude soo many people are hating on the game, but this is clearly a more quest oriented game while those other are trying to be more procedural. It seems fun tbh. And I'm excited for the mods.

@@KikyouNekothese guys aren't fanboys though. They thought fallout 4 was mid and they despised 76. They went into this game skeptical as hell and were pleasantly suprised.
Sorry not everyone has the same npc hivemind mindset that grew around this game, some people genuinely like it
@@subjectdelta17People aren't mindless haters. If the game was truly good it'll be loved and praised, the fact that it has this many amounts of backlash should speak for something.
@KikyouNeko the reason why this game has so much backlash is because this game had 3 separate hate campaigns before its launch singing for the games downfall.
You had the Sony fans wanting an xbox ip to flop
You had older fallout fans who have hated bethesda for over a decade and always want to see them fail
And you had ES fanboys who were mad that this game delayed es6.
Couple that with a few mainstream youtubers hating on the game like penguinz0 and asmongold, and you had a hate campaign big enough to sway the dumbass general gaming audience to join in.
That's why starfield is hated so much
@@subjectdelta17 I played this pile of sh*t i tried my best to enjoy and love it! It's just a boring mid game, not the worst but far from deserving praise, if we keep praising Bethesda doing this lackluster effort, TES6 for sure is also gonna dissapoint.

I have absolutely noticed persuasion seems to have a greater chance when you pick options that fit the NPC's personality... Want to convince a pirate? Appeal to their greed... Want to convince a would be hero? Go with noble deeds... Want to convince a normal person? Make arguments that normal people worry about...
I dunno if it's confirmation bias, but I definitely seemed to notice I had more success picking suitable options than I did by simply picking "safe" (as in green) options, even if those options were often more difficulty options...
I noticed this to! I thought the persuasion system was really well done compared to even new vegas where you just have to level up, now you have to think a little based on who your talking to.
And we're back! It's always great to hear from FudgeMuppet again. I really want ES6, but I'm so happy to see that Starfield (despite the issues it will have) is seemingly going to be a blast to play tomorrow, this month, and for some time to come!

But hearing that a lot of people are liking the game makes me so happy. For all those who are playing have fun Exploring the Stars.
That's a really good attitude to have. It is for people like you that I hope they make a PS port in the future, or at least improve cloud gaming to the point where it can be a satisfactory experience for everyone.
Yeah I mean PlayStation did this to y'all. Notice how many Sony games are exclusive to PlayStation. Xbox finally did it and yeah, this is why exclusivity sucks.

What this game could really benefit from is a transmog system. Given there's so many cool armors and clothes, but that the clothes might match the look you want for the perk you want it feels a bit crazy there's nothing to either strip mods from things and slap them on another thing, or a way to slap already found item looks on better items.

I do nut understand the bad reviews. I actually put off buying it because of all the reviews. I fortunately found a really good deal on Ebay so i more or less took a flyer on it. OMG i love this game. It is phenomenal. Im a sci-fi junky and when it was formed announced we were getting Fallout in space i was thrilled. Fast forward to its release and its getting all of these bad reviews and i was disappointed af. The game actually met my initial expectations which leaves me wondering what all of these critics were hoping for
I don’t understand the good ones. It’s a lifeless empty world in my eyes
How do u buy games on eBay? Do u get the latest updates?
Haven’t had this much fun in a game since the Witcher 3. This year has been FANTASTIC. for RPGs. Still need to play Baulders gate and cyberpunk
I really appreciate this video because I can tell you put the time in to actually appreciate the work and love and attention to detail Todd and his team at Bethesda out into this game. All those mid reviews feel like they come from reviewers that barely played the game. So many of them sound like they played the main quest, tried a couple other things and that was it. But that’s not how Bethesda games work! If people only played the main quest in Skyrim there’s no way it would be as popular as it was! It’s the living breathing world and the immersion that make these games so special. This is actually the first review type video since the game has come out in early release that actually does a great job showing how awesome this game really is! Thank you!
There it is, the review that matters. What I look for in a Bethesda game is the exact same as FudgeMuppet's and I am glad to hear what they're saying.
You guys deserve the early review. You have been the biggest bethesda devotees on ES. Congrats!
That's what this review is so positive then. I watched it streamed and it certainly was not appealing at all.
I love how every review I watch ups the ante on hours played. Fudgemuppet has the record now but by tomorrow there'll be a "10,000 hours played review! "
Love the channel and all the love you guys put in all videos and Bethesda content.
Makes me hopeful for the possible size and depth of Elder Scrolls VI.
God a place I can enjoy this game and its online content in relative peace.
So it sounds like you really shouldn’t try to min/max by just taking whatever background and traits are technically the most useful to any character, and instead go with the ones that support your specific character fantasy, as those choices flavor your entire experience.
This is awesome to hear, because I was making my guy last night, liking the idea of being a space trucker, but ended up going with the Scoundrel background simply because it was more well rounded, and I could still pretend to be a space trucker anyway. But as soon as I got up from the med bay, the lady called me a troublemaker, and I was like “yeah yeah…”
Now, knowing the game is going to be all different because I’ve labeled myself a scoundrel, I’m gonna have to start over and follow my role playing heart.
The IGN reviewer who reviewed Star Field also gave Mass Effect Andromeda a 7.7.
In case anyone thinks they should care about IGNs opinion.
Does anyone with remote perspective on gaming as a whole take their reviews serious tbf?
I like this game too. Really want to do the other side quests, I started a faction one and it was a massive plotline.
The persuasion mechanics looked okay at the beginning, but I found a bunch of persuasion options and responses to them that seemed to be rather out of place.
I'm happy the game is good and you'll be covering it.

This was the review I needed to see, glad y’all liked it. Hope y’all make builds like y’all did for Fallout 4 those were great
the game is GREAT. While some people have comments about too much redundancy with caves and outposts, I think the hope is that Bethesda will leave a huge open sandbox for the modding community. It still feels very much so that this game is in its infancy. I completed the game and put about 120 hours into it but still want to do a lot more with farming materials and building more of my own outposts... but I think right now the game could use a LOT more guns, space suits, and other things to wear and change about your character. Hopefully that will come through the modding community.
Don't forget official updates & DLC. FO4 got six & they massively expanded that game & what you could do in it.
Got the early access and this game did not disappoint I felt like I was on a space journey for 2 hours
Thank you for this. Really tired of all the negativity online..I am currently playing this and I like it a lot! Sure it is kind of dated in places but I am still loving the classic Bethesda feal of exploration and wonder!
You don't like negativity because it shines a light on your low iq. You have to have someone tell you what you want to hear.

I’ve decided to go through and start looking at some of the reviews some content creators have put out now that I’m 64ish hours in and through the mainline stories. Glad to see you guys are as in love with this game as I am. As lore enthusiast and gamers who take time to really get into the game you’re playing and character you’ve made it’s nice to hear from people who “get” what the game is trying to do. It feels like so many reviewers have just tried to play the game start to finish without really taking the time to let it soak in and enjoy the greater experience. Personally it just feels like most big name reviewers have failed getting into what the game is meant to be and it’s effected their opinions negatively all for the sake of having that review deadline. Starfield is such an immense game with so many options and stories that it’s almost unfair to even put reviews out with less than 100 hours😂 Not everyone has the time of course but Starfield is definitely a game where the more you put in the more you get is a true statement.
Sorry, I didn't see the disclaimer *must play 100 hours before forming an opinion....
@@tarkov666 Obviously
Professional journalists that review games have limited time to spend on a game before they have to move on to another. So they likely rushed through the main storyline, and skipped most, if not nearly all the side missions, and the side missions are better.
My thing has always been that if it takes double or triple digit hours for a game or show to start getting good or fun then it's not a great product to begin with
Can you please tell me what the game is meant to be? I am truely curious. Because i went into the game, expecting "skyrim in space". You know, having fascinating things to explore around every 2nd corner, being fully immersed in the rich game world, havibg near endless role play capabilities. This is what i felt with Skyrim. And this is what I expected from them in Starfield. Now i have to say that i was skeptical going in. While i love space as a topic beyond anything else, the trailers only peaked my interest to a certain degree. That doesn't mean i am not invested in a good space RPG.
But i get into Starfield and choices don't matter, environmental storytelling is not present for the most part, there is no immersive exploration, there is no immersive quests or dialogue or anything of the sort. On top of that there are immersion breaks around every 2nd corner. A 2m high fence on mars? Yeah who'd pay for that? Fruits left in the open on a planet with no atmosphere? Makes total sense, especially the part where you or the NPC would eat it with the space suit on. Or worse, taking the space suit off. Menus. Menus upon menus. The spaceship is only there as a hub for fast travelling to and from. Space combat is a minigame you can have on top. There is no flying experience. There is outdated and shallow gun and melee mechanics. Like please, tell me: what is Starfield? "A bethesda style rpg"? No. Because i played a bethesda style rpg. And they can do way waaay better than starfield. There is no rpg. There is no open world. Starfield is a sad experience of marketing success.
No interest in space stuff whatsoever but, seeing that the game is actually not a hot mess makes me at least hopeful for when TES VI comes out in ten years that it will continue to build upon all the cool gameplay features introduced here!
We need fallout NV remastered while we wait 20 years for fallout 5!
@@Omen465 not really interested in that either tbh 😅 . I only really care for Elder Scrolls when it comes to Bethesda
I ended up clocking 140 hours with the review code and boy oh boy... I feel as if I've barely scratched the surface
Have you experienced "recycled" random content? I saw another impressions vid where the person said that a lot of the generated locations and were copy paste - right down to the placement of enemies.
After seeing some mixed reviews I was feeling a bit deflated, but to see you guys (genuine roleplayers) loving the game has rekindled my excitement.
I'm surprised you say that traits and dialogue options matter so much because other reviews have criticised those things as being surface level.
Ign and gamespot gave this a 7 which was expected considering they've always been blatantly biased towards Sony games. What's even more funny is that ign japan gave the game a 10/10
Ign spain gave 10/10 as well
Think it’s more so that ign and gamespot alike have very limited attention spans and lack the ability to explore without a trillion markers on the map.
