I'm a big fan of bringing a magnetic whiteboard to stick on the outside of the door because A. it makes it easier to find your room late at night after a few drinks and B. if you leave magnetic markers on the door you can write cute notes, jokes, and messages to your travel party!

The thing everyone misses when talking about shoes is to PLEASE remember to wear rubber soled flip flops or sandals on the pool deck not the foam soles! The pool deck is extremely slick and I have ended up bruising my pride and my knee pretty bad because I didn’t know or didn’t think about it.
My poor aunt had those on when we were in New Orleans. It was raining and we had somewhere to be. As we were walking, my aunt literally fell backwards and bumped her head hard. It knocked the wind out of her. My cousin had a better pair of flip flops on and she traded with our aunt. I know that hurts bc I heard it and felt it

and high heals u r not GREAT at walking in for formal night because when the ship rocks even a tiny bit i loose my balance n my husband can not walk beside me arm in arm to stabilize me because many places r toooo narrow
@@beachymamaadventures she is fine, thank God. That was last summer. Yeah it just knocked the wind out of her. My cousin was like, don’t wear these shoes, especially when it’s raining: it’s good for around the house (sometimes maybe not). But yes those shoes are very dangerous to wear. You need a good sole that has grip. But thank you and I hope you’re ok too. 😊

You missed pocket umbrella, dollar store ponchos (for tropical rain showers), sun hat, and the new essential on my list: a small funnel. It's useful for filling water bottles, draining ice and so much more!

Great video Matt. Be sure to pack extra undergarments...can't be overprepared in that category. :) We also pack a little travel laundry soap to allow us to hand-wash a few items in the sink/shower/tub as needed.
Glad you put Water Shoes. Every time I go to any beach where I get in the water. I always wear water shoes. Even when I head to the Jacuzzi as well XD. But one thing I got before my last cruise that I think everyone should get is a cord bag. So many electronics and all using different charging cords. I got one that organizes them when traveling and in my room. So helpful
I Never forget my sunglasses!! Polarized are excellent.. makes all the colors Pop! (IMO)

I spent a week in Texas and it rained the first day I was there. I bought an umbrella at the store while it was raining.
By the time I got to the exit, it stopped and didn't rain the rest of the week.

Great as always Matt. I just want to stress SUNSCREEN. I met two couples on our last cruise that didn’t think they would need it but then did and had to pay a fortune for it on board. Another item my family likes to bring is a Yeti style cup to pour those expensive drinks into when you are around the pool or outside in the heat. The drinks melt or get hot so fast in the flimsy plastic cups they come in on board. Last but not least earbuds to listen to your music or books when working out or hanging by the pool. From the few cruises i've been on in recent years (caribbean and alaska) and someone that likes to solo travel. I can confidently say that its very possible to pack everything you need in a carry on luggage + backpack as a guy and I'd highly recommend it if you have to fly. I've had way too many luggage mishaps from flying that I avoid it when you can. Packing cubes and stop and think, are you really gonna need this?
Mentioned pretty often is that the great thing about cruising is if you are missing something, cruise or ports will gladly sell you it lol.
im such an overpacker! driving to the port doesnt help my case because I don't have to pay for extra bags! haha last cruise I came off and asked security if they could point me towards the overpackers anonymous club, lol

Powdered drinks like kool-aid are useful to bring onboard since they don't take up much space and don't weigh much.
I forgot to pack a pair of black leather shoes for casual dining. Fortunately, our first port had a shoe store. I've been using the same pair of Oxfords since then.
We always manage to overpack. Interior room bring a night light. Symphony we didn't need one, but adventure we did.

I have a toiletries go bag. Some OTC meds. Asprin, etc toothbrush and paste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, hair brush.
another good one is liquid IV, if you have the drink package and get water bottles your head will THANK you the next morning if you drank enough to have a hangover. they are pre packaged powders and aren't terribly priced

I’ve been binging these videos for about 3 hours today and this video is slightly louder it caught me so off guard 😂
When I fly to a cruise port, I find it easiest to wait on most toiletries until I land; it is not difficult to find a store in any port cities and just buy toiletries for you cruise; you don't have to worry about size limits on how much liquid soap, shampoo, suncreen, or toothpaste if you buy after the flight.
I do the same thing. No chance of something being taken by TSA. I do carry on only these days

My cruise in September leaving out of cape liberty, they took one of my non surge protector extension cords. I thought they were allowed as long as it wasn't surge protected. So which type is exactly allowed? The ones that don't have a cord?

Very helpful. I packed a steamer once, which could have been very helpful but it was confiscated and given back to me after the cruise. I completely understand why this is done. One of the biggest fears on a ship is a fire onboard. I do wish that they supplied steamers in their laundry rooms. I much prefer a steamer instead of an iron.

Yes you can! You’ll need to fill the bottle by taking cups of water and pouring it in, but no problem at all with that

I called royal I'm going on wonder of the seas in April they said y9u can bring a corded fan that has ul certified sticker on it..am I wrong?or depends on the ship?

Hard cider/seltzer, etc…I assume fall under the no beer & liquor policy.
Royal does not allow clothes steamers and my Aunt is allergic to Downy wrinkle release, so that is out of the question. I believe that Royal bans steamers as a way to get a little extra $$$ for pressing.
Take a look at Nellie's. They have a similar product, but it's all natural. It's great!

There are hundreds on blog sites; the cruise lines don't officially release cruise compasses in advance.

hey! recently my family and i booked a trip and around a week later we had to drop a traveler, would be we able to fill in that missing spot or does royal have a policy against that? the trip is around 5 months from now

How much lounging do you do? Admittedly it’s not my favorite but on all my Disney cruises I’ve spear maybe cumulative 2 hours per sailing at the pool I have my first royal on symphony in march is it that boring or is the pool just somthing you like to do?

I use a CPAP and normally have the machine plugged into an extension cord for proper placement. I know I can bring distilled water for the CPAP,, but can I bring the cord for it as well? I don't want to be stuck sleeping in some weird position I'm not used to because the outlet isn't close to the bed
Fill out the health form and the ship will provide distilled water and extension cord for CPAP machines

No, because it's still considered beer
Blow dryer? You can’t bring a blow dryer on board?
Can you bring a heating pad on board. I get back spasms and need to lie on it along with my muscle relaxer medicine.
Anything with a heating element is questionable at best on a cruise. Your best bet is to contact the cruise line; they all make accommodations for special needs especially if you have a doctor's note.
i have the same issue...the sauna and steam room helped me sooooo much!!!

From what I understand, many ships have kettles available. They need to make sure that what is used (like a kettle) is certified. It helps prevent fires from frayed cords ets.

Matt. Question. Do you think Royal will ever build a new generation of smaller ship(s)? If they don't, they will eventually loose the ability to go to some ports or sail out of places like Baltimore.
Anything is possible, but I think the cruise lines look at it as the ports losing out, not the lines. Meaning, it's up to Baltimore to improve its facility to be able to handle a larger ship or it will be bypassed for another nearby port that can do it.
@@RoyalCaribbeanBlog It's not the port that is the problem, it is the low bridge clearance getting to open water. Tampa has the same problem with the Sunshine Skyway.
Plus some of us don't like the overcrowded city at sea experience. Cruise lines flashily throw in an additional restaurant or two, add in a couple of new activities, etc.; but also much more quietly add in hundreds of additional rooms. Smaller ships allow you to really meet people rather than slide by masses to get in line for latest "Wow" gimmick (ice skating, roller coasters, bumper cars, water slides, etc.)
We're going to try to bring a mini travel freezer ( fits in our suitcase) for wifes breastmilk
you can ask for it, just advised your travel agent or contact RC and ask for a fridge, it is free! There is a lot of guests who needs fridges for their medicine, we provide ext cords, fridges, sharp containers! just ask for it

Actually you can run to the mall. They are visiting major cities with plenty of high and low end shoppers areas. This is a nonissue

if your on ur shore excursion and it starts to rain you can pull out your umbrella
One piece of advice that I would add to this list is don’t go on a cruise vacation when your kids are too small to go to the bathroom themselves. You will enjoy it so much better when your kids are in college and they can come along with you, but they could bathe themselves, potty themselves, and have a good time with and without you.
I don't really cruise since I have a yacht but I can never figure out what to bring on the yacht? Can you make a video on that?

just got home from a royal caribbean cruise to alaska, it sucked..stay away
Why did it suck...just curious
the food quality was a huge let down compared to years ago, only 3 places on the entire boat to refill your drink package drink. nothing to eat after 9 pm except horrible pizza and 3 room service meals. only made 3 of our 5 ports due to mechanical issues with the boat. royal carribean had 6 months to fix it and didnt. our last port we got to at 5pm and had to leave by 8pm. every employee puts you on the spot for atleast 3 minutes to ensure they recieve a good review. all the shops on the boat sell the same exact thing. casino payout is way less than normal. in room tv only has 8 to 10 movies to choose from. wifi worked about 40 percent of the time. i coulld keep going. royal was our go to cruise line for years sadly not anymore
I'm sorry your Alaska cruise was bad. The land tour got long for the kids but I wanted to try one since this was not my first Alaskan cruise. What ship were you on? I hope you have a good time on your next cruise. Hawaii maybe????
