Good video Stuart. I fitted the sill protectors and also door edge protective strips which I am very pleased with. I now have a sew-on steering wheel cover because I find the wheel gets hot and sweaty in Spanish sunshine and I wanted a dash of interior colour. However even a professional upholsterer would have trouble fitting this thing, the Chinese instruction video takes twenty minutes just to show what to do but I have virtually given up. If you are tempted to get one, take note.
Oh, you need to look up how to apply those stickers... the right way would be to place them with the backing on and secure them with a couple of pieces of masking tape along the long edge. Then flip it over onto the tape and start peeling off the backing paper, start laying it down as you're peeling the paper. That way it's already aligned and less chance of it sticking to itself. Nice job. Tidy updates to the car.
ooooh the lights are lovely! I knew about the lack of lighting in the back before I got the car, so I have put 2 LED push button torches in each door pocket - but I think the teenagers would much prefer those strip lights, very effective. I purchased car window visor/rain protectors on Ali express but unfortunately they arrived with a crack in one of them. I had visors on my previous car, they stop rain drops getting in but you can have the window down a few centimetres for air if it is raining. I have found with the MG4 that if it is raining, drips land right on the electric window controls. Plus I think they look good on a car
Be careful with the valve caps - from experience, these often corrode on to the valve, which makes it impossible to add air to your tyres. In extreme, they may need a visit to a tyre fitter for a new valve.
Totally agree, had some myself and even though i used the correct grease as advised they welded on and I had a nightmare using a Dremel and a hacksaw blade trying to remove them. My advice is to throw them away unfortunately
I bought valve cap covers MUFC and out them on. Went out next morning somebody had them off!!😂 Thanks tho for the info! Never entered my head that may happen. What a shame as those MG ones do look pretty good.
Just ordered my MG4 Std range. It will be my first car, I'm really excited! Thank you for your videos, they have been a great help and I look forward to more :)
Like the mats, sill protectors, and LEDs. As others have said, those valve caps will corrode and be impossible to remove. It's a galvanic reaction, and in our climate can take only days. If you want to keep them, suggest you use plenty of copper grease on the threads. I will be visiting my local tyre fitters in the near future as previous owner fitted metal valve caps. I managed to get three off, the fourth is stuck fast, and I will now need a new valve fitting.
Thanks Stuart good vid, I also have seatbelt pads but with MG logo and am waiting for the door sill trims. MG4 polo shirt with light strip on back and car on the front arrived today, perfect fit and excellent quality Thanks 👍
Thanks for tuning in Brian and for commenting. Nice touch with the MG logos. Door sills look great so nice 🎯 Thanks again for ordering from the store and I’m so please you’re happy with them ❤️
Great video Stuart, those lights look good. When you were opening the last box I really thought it was going to be a vehicle to load adapter like Tom Ross's from Tom's man shed.looking forward to your next video.
Great video. Was looking for my MG4 which is 'on its way'. One thing with those valve covers. I had them on my Mini Cooper (Mini ones) and they rusted onto the valve and when trying to remove it tore the valve which I had to get repaired. So just keep that in mind that these cheap metal valve covers can corrode and rust onto your valves!
Beware of the chrome tyre valve covers. I had some mounted on my car and it corroded due to being two different metals coming in contact. I couldn't open them up again, had to replace the valve stems. I also think you glued the door sill protectors wrong. No shoe will get under the door seal, but many shoes will get on the small step of the bodywork. I would've rather mounted them to cover the small step a bit to take the brunt of the people who don't raise their feet enough while jumping in the car.
I agree about the lack of rear lighting in the back of the MG4, it's very dark back there. The Trophy models is even worse because it has privacy glass. I also can't understand why it has no rear middle seat head rest. No grab handles front or back either. Seems they have been very stingy on some of the "necessary" items. Lack of rear wiper is also a mistake IMO. Other than that it looks to be a good car & one that I might seriously consider when I dip my toe into the world of EV's next year.
I’m agree Colin. Lack of lighting shouldn’t be overlooked. Having been used to no wiper with our Tesla M3, I can live without it but it must be a massive cost saving to leave it off. I agree with the tinted glass. My Std range came with privacy glass (first 2000 did) and yes it’s pretty dark. Agreed it’s a top car and I enjoy it as much as the Tesla
Hey…. Quick tip …. If those valve covers are metal on the metal valves…..they can weld themselves on with time, that’s why the metal stems stick to plastic cover’s…. Just to mention…
Tire valve stem cover, you need to put some grease on those thread before screwing in…or they will get stuck to the valve stem and damaged them when you take them out…
Ha ha, don’t I will buy rubbish no one needs lols. Great car. Really, really nice to drive. Dare I say nicer than our Tesla M3🤣Thanks for the positive comment and tuning in.
Some interesting items - particularly like the car mats (must get a set before I get the car), and the lights, but think with the issues of hiding the electronics and routing the lights around centre console, I would have purchased a 5V USB light set and installed the plug in the back, routing the front wires up either side of the centre console... You missed out on getting a Vehicle to load plug, or isn't that an option on the Standard Range?
Thanks for tuning in. Mats are great and were well worth the money. The official MG ones were nearly £80. I thought about usb and running from the rear socket but I have pre-teens and life isn’t worth living without a charging socket lols. It was a £50 challenge as much as the V2L would have been great, that will be for another video. Standard range can do V2L as can ZS EV too👍
@@stuart_thomas In that case yep I know what you're saying - thankfully both the Grandchildren are also almost grown up so not a problem for me, although I think if I was in your position it might make me want to break out the soldering iron and try to connect it in the back of the same socket...
Thanks clive. It’s a bit of a dormant power output for me and don’t plan to use it for anything else. It’s handy to have a power off button for them, especially if I’m not using the car for long periods or on holiday etc
Great video. I have ordered my MG4 so maybe will order some of these bits myself! Unfortunately it looks like my car won't be ready for a while - looking like end of May/June now.
Thanks for tuning in - congrats on ordering your MG4. It may pay to shop around online for MG dealerships with stock. I’ve heard many people now waiting until the summer months for the MG4 so hopefully not too long for you
Great blog, but the music was awful! I am still waiting on my MG4 which is meant to be in the next shipment! Did you find any window wind reflectors on your search for MG parts/accessories? I have them on my MG ZS.
Hi, enjoying your videos and journey into mg4 ownership. Seriously considering one myself and have a test drive booked in a couple of weeks. Can I ask how you are coping without a rear wiper?
Thanks Mike for the great comments and for tuning in. It can be frustrating first thing in the morning. As long as a remember to preheat the car it’s fine. Rain isn’t a massive issue driving at speed but can be a pain sat in traffic. I have been told to use some special spray for it which apparently helps rain bead off quickly
@@stuart_thomas I thought they were built into my ZS’s valve caps. Clearly not the case. VW merely use(d) a ‘rolling radius - under inflated’ warning - not clear to me how an MG ‘reads’ the pressures - I say ‘read’… mine are different virtually EVERY time I check although, despite my trying to equalise them, my off-side rear is ALWAYS a smidge higher than the rest. 🙄 Is the pressure sensor on the internal surface of each rim? 🤔

Thanks Raymond. Yes, they stayed on for about an hour before removing them, I’ve put them on the end of some pencils for now 😂
I pick up my MG4 SE SR zone Oct 26th and I’m ordering everything you’ve just got except the valve covers 👍 ❤
Good decision- I never used the caps after many suggestions to avoid.
After all that hard work you deserve that cuppa. Great video.
Great idea! Loved the video 😄
I would recommend you remove the dust caps they will react to the metal on the valve stem and will become almost impossible to get off

My new se long range has grab rails front and back .,centre headrest, rear wiper and one pedal driving ,.great vehicle

Thank you! Congrats on receiving your new MG4 and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine
Have to be careful when you adjust the front seats. You could easily pull the wires off the back as they get caught round the runners etc...
Thanks - have gone under the rails for that reason. Just need an ice machine now for the stars in their eyes effect 😊

is there a way to install those lights by linking them to the fusebox and hiding all the wires intead of the 12v plug?
I’m sure you can as many have done the same with dash cams
You have to be careful with heavy valve caps. They have been know to rip the valves out of the wheel, causing a rapid deflation 😬 Steer clear IMHO!
Thanks Clive i still have the old ones in the glove box so may pop them back
Nice video just put a little grease on the threads of the valve caps and you should be OK
Thanks Baz will do

Don't over tighten the dust cap covers as they can seize on the valve stems.
Are your number plate bulbs LED? I cant find any info as to how to replace

Rear wiper fitted on car ordered in April delivered July along with grab handles ,centre headrest and one pedal driving.
You just know those LED lights will fall off over time, the cheap adhesive never lasts very long.
cool

£23 for the mats? MG want £74! Does the MG4 not have ‘Wi-Fi’ tyre pressure readouts on the screen(s like the mk1 ZS)?
It does have tyre pressure monitors 👍

Those valve covers will probably corrode. Be very careful.
I’m going to remove them (to be on the safe side) 😊
