Excellent presentation! In discussing the Eucharist with my former Reformed pastor, he used the same explanation that Erikson used. On this and many other topics (baptism, justification, etc) the protestants will nearly always cite another protestant's faulty reasoning, never bothering to examine what the Church actually teaches in the Catechism.
Many thanks. At the end of the video the following thought popped into my head. The mass is where Heaven and Earth meet. Jesus therefore is not in two places at once. He is in the one place.
The Image of God video by Bible Project really helped me in how I view the Incarnation. I can't see it any other way now... Wherever Christ is, there's an intersection of heaven and earth.
We all eat bread. What does our human body automatically do with the bread? It becomes our living flesh. So, do Protestants claim that God cannot do consciously and intentionally what our bodies do subconsciously? Granted, it is not actual human flesh and blood, but rather the True Presence, as Christ cannot deceive.
I understand the skepticism however there is something in John 6 that needs to be addressed. Jesus came to give us "eternal life" Eternal means "having infinite duration, continued without intermission, endless, valid, and existing at all times". In Johns gospel Jesus has always been, is, and always will be.
Thank you for the research... this is not something we typically run into - meaning the writings describing the details. 9:56 John 6! 21:30 Nice closing quote.... Cherry picking beliefs... okay here not there. Yes, there are mysteries that cannot be explained: - Creation - Miracles - Trinity - Incarnation They go by human limitations... God is here and in the past and in the future... There is nobody like God! He knows everything... he knew 2000 years ago how things would turn out... see Book of Revelations. He saw that there would be false prophets and teachers. He loves us so much if we truly repent in the Sacrament of Confession he through Im Persona Cristi forgive us!!! And then we can receive Holy Communion. We must fully repent and do many works to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. To imitate him. John 6 Those that change the Eucharist to be symbolic walk away from Jesus and create their own religions - a different gospel. John 15 Those that are not in the Catholic Church cut themselves off from the vine... I have not read anything of how Protestants interpret John 15... but most likely they miss what Jesus says.
Thanks for pointing this out. I see a lot of catholics with zeal trying to defend the Eucharist and they use words Trent didn't. I believe that we should stop using the word "literal" because it confuses protestants.
Well, no. Transubstantiation doesn't mean transformation. If they can accept the Trinity and they can accept omnipresence, they can accept a corporal presence and a transubstantive presence simultaneously. After all, "the spirit quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing," and anyone claiming to "trust in Christ" should have no problem believing that.
@eddardgreybeard Once again, Trent doesn't use the word, "literal." Session XIII says Christ is "truly, really, and substantially contained under the species..." When I speak to protestants they automatically call me a cannibal. They ask if I'm eating a leg or an arm. This is because they've heard the word "literal" over and over again.
I find it so ironic that those same non-catholics who erroneously accuse us of idolatry in our statues, saint-intercession, marion devotions, etc.; actually do committ idolatry in their understanding of 'real presence' in their 'communion' and invalidated priestly orders. We Catholics worship the real Jesus under the appearance of bread; whereas they worship a piece of bread as if it was really Jesus after their invalidated orders pray over it.
@@joancarrillo9518 Depending on which sect you identify with; you do. High Anglicans, some Calvinists, and some Lutherans hold to 'con-substantiation' . I was at such a service (for the baptism of their infant); where during their 'communion' they knelt at the altar-rail to receive their 'holy-bread'. This is one of the cases where it is better to cut yourself off completely and walk away than participate in such an idolatrous ritual. If you don't have the valid priestly orders and the faith or belief in the Real Presence as Catholics do; then instead of inventing your own type; it is better as you do and leave the Ancient Chrisitan Apostolic Faith for one totally of your own.

Excellent presentation; May I ask a sincere question; Did God the Father became the Word of God? For the gnostics if they can give us a better explanation.
God: Father, Son (Word) and Holy Spirit are all eternal and of the same substance. God's Word was made flesh in the body of Jesus Christ. The Godhead is three eternal Divine Persons. Jesus Christ is a Divine Person with two natures: human and divine. He always existed, but His human nature was created, NOT His divinity.
Consider the 3 miracles that Jesus does at the beginning of John.Chapter six and how reveals that he can control every atom and molecule in the universe. Every single element in the universe is at his command since he brought it into being at the beginning of creation. The water molecules behave and act differently than in their natural state so that he can walk upon it.And then they return to their original natural state. He multiplies and replicates organic matter in the form of bread and fish so that they do not go through their natural state of growing and getting bigger. But they can be removed from the basket already ready for consumption. And then when he enters the boat he teleports it to the land which they were going to immediately. All this makes it extremely obvious that he can control all matter in the known universe and he can becomepresent under the form of bread and wine if he commands it.
Jesus: Walked atop the water, entered the upper room through bolted doors, resurrected from the tomb leaving the stone in place, AND, was birthed without affecting His mother's virginity. Creation yields - always and everywhere - to Creator.
1 Corinthians 15:45-49 Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition "45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual which is first but the physical, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so are those who are of the dust; and as is the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall[a] also bear the image of the man of heaven."
“Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God. . . . They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes” (Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6:2-7:1 [St Ignatius of Antioch A.D. 110]).

I really look forward to your videos as it helps me understand so I can be ready to answer questions from my Protestant friends and family!!!

Great content! Thank you for studying the faith and presenting the truth with clarity.
God bless you

Awesome
What is your take on the many Eucharistic Miracles and whether or not they help the Catholic position on Real Presence or transsubstantiation?
They are intended for those who need the reassurance.
Blessed be God, forever 🙏 ♥️
