I was curious what would happen if i grafted three cuttings into a closed triangle with only one as the rooting base. I guess it couldn't figure out where the top was because it never pupped even after three years.
Hey man, nice experiment. Thanks for sharing it! I wonder what happenes to the little bottom parts of seedlings that you cut scions from? Do they start pupping or dies off?
@@blackpuddingeater no I have not and probably never will unless purely for an experiment haha can't see any benefit to it unless it's the one root stock and maybe 4 pups then graft 4 scions to 4 pups with 1 big root system.
@CurtsCactus makes sense, my thinking was, that one rootstock can provide more than enough energy for one scion. How cool would it be to grow 3 or 4 different Trichs on one rootstock.
@@drakeweddner well I mean I am new to grafting haha so I know I'm not doing the best way and probably should be cutting the corners but Im lazy 🦥 haha thanks.
@@CurtsCactus in my opinion the absolute easiest way to graft them is as a slab using rubber bands ua-cam.com/video/kWXCCzmrgZQ/v-deo.htmlsi=OOgSWwgbM9IAobHl Your jar method was pretty cool though I'll have to try that out
Yo whats up Curt, Much love. How long do you wait until you check to see if the graft has mended a union? How many days do you wait before you remove the grafting tape and check if it is secure. Thanks! -JC
Great job Buddy!! Been doing alot of grafting myself, just saw new growth on my TBM on 3 of the Areols 🔥
nice long cacti Kurt, you are blessed with all your plants

@@LardoWizardo yea wow I've seen some people do some weird graft experiments. Always interesting.
I've just made my first graft with the jar method!
Oh how awesome! Haha
Yeah rubber bands don't always work

They survive, they pup and continue to grow.
@CurtsCactus Hey man, it's probably nonsense, but have you tried to graft 2 or 3 scions onto one rootstock?

@CurtsCactus do experiment man :) you have plenty of resources.
I'm only joking, it's just I thought I had.
my first grafts were using threads and were a pain in the A lol, good video.
Taper the sides of the root stock when it dries it has a tendency to curl up and push the graft off
@@drakeweddner yea I will do it on bigger grafts but not bothered with these smaller ones they don't really reach the edge.
@@CurtsCactus i figured you knew what you were doing you have a million cacti , I just thought maybe you were brand new to grafting

One week I usually take off the tape and I'm never really sure until it swells up so around 3 weeks to be sure.
Jar method OP
❤
need some sulphur to stop the scion sinking, what do you think?
lol this one I imagined 27:13
