Pokemon Stadium fixed the infamous Gen I 1/256 miss chance glitch. Here, Chrism manages to get a 1/256 anyway (4 times missing a 3/4).
I mean, it didn't exactly fix the 1/256 glitch. It just rolls again if it hits the 1/256 on the first roll, meaning that it effectively turns it into the 1/65,536 glitch
@@chargingbadger867 Hadn't heard of this, so I went to Bulbapedia... and it says something even more bonkers:
"In Pokémon Stadium, the randomly generated integer is between 0 and 254 (inclusive). This prevents moves with 100% accuracy from missing, but also slightly increases the probability of lower accuracy moves of hitting."
How hard was it to change the "lesser than" to a "equal or lesser than" comparison??
@@Onmur No, it just rolls it twice, which is even funnier
36:30 how about using only pokemon that got evolutions later sense thats a lot of ( albeit pretty useless ) pokemon like aipom, yannma, togetic, ect
Can say ive ever heard a single person ever say tangela is the worst pokemon in gen 1
In game playthrough maybe since it comes so late...? Id say onix is worse in an in game playthrough since its a redundant mon and tangela at least has the niche of not having the poison type unlike most other grasses.
However, tangela has a couple of things other grasses dont - growth, and high defense. Thanks to the special stat being both special attack and defense in gen 1, tangela has a good 100 special and a great defnse of 115. Furthermore, since it doesnt have the poison typez it isnt weak to psychic. Its not quad weak to bug like other grasses, and most importantly it resists ground. Combine that with growth effctively being calm mind, and it being able to put the opponent to sleep or paralyze with stun spore, and you can see it is so much better than pokemon like ditto, onix, marowak, or any fighting type in gen 1.
Heck, it even has swords dance + bind, whoch with paralysis is nefarious!
Lance the dragon master not having a dragon is crazy
Beedrill as Sir-Not-Appearing-in-This-Film
This whole challenge screeches "The game cheats" at me. and im inclined to believe it
It straight up does. I've been hit by 70% Thunders, with the 10% paralysis chance, and then got fully para'd 4 turns in a row.
Me, seeing Chrism using Double Team and Flash against Misty:
"Poor guy; he doesn't realize these moves work ONLY when the opponent uses them, not when YOU use them!"
This game cheats in a way that is very unfair.
Nice vid mate. If you want other ideas for challenge videos, how about an NFE team? That's probably just going to be terrible in Gen 1
Thats just standard rental loadout.
Most fully evolved pokemon have terrible movesets in rental.
Kadabra and Haunter have great stats for NFEs. Graveler might be pretty good too.
Bug type best type
Real
Great to see you tackle the challenge! This was fun to watch! 😃
If you wanna do this with all types, you could give yourself an extra challenge for the easy ones. I looked at the gen 1 psychic types and I think it would be interesting if you only use Pokémon that aren't fully evolved. That would be Abra, Kadabra, Drowzee, Exeggcute and Slowpoke
Pokemon logic 101 - a pokemon summons a flood of water deep enough that the pokemon can "surf" on it and it can miss!
Yo! This is such a hype idea for a video! I am so excited to check it out. Let’s go! I have not watched the other two, but I definitely will after this!
I would love to see a poison type challenge
I completed it already! here is the video ua-cam.com/video/iMBONirK28s/v-deo.html :P
Okay idk where you came from sir but this video is pretty entertaining
I love the old school 3 d Animations Poliwrath flexing is a mood
Also I like how most pokemons faint and then there's is Persian just straight up dying😂😂😂 22:10
Amazing! I want to try and take on this challenge now as well
Of course, the real question now is would you be able to actually complete the entire game (All Cups and Versus Mewtwo) ?
Love the stadium and monotype videos. If you want a challenge, try electric types, they have terrible coverage in Gen1.
I am waiting to see all type challenges in this game! You're OG!
Can you do Normal types Stadium? Idk if itbwould be easy but I would still watch
pls do more videos of different types, like water type next
Fighting type challenge could be a thing. Fighting type... sucked in Gen I. Hitmonlee's the only one with good Fighting type moves, and Poliwrath the only Fighting type pokémon that's also another type. On the upside, it gets amnesia.
Poliwhirl legitimately more threatening than Poliwrath due to having a higher speed with the same strategy, allowing for better sweeps. Fighting types really suck, haha
Transform works against substitutes for at least the 4 generations lol
Since Water-types could be easy with Starmie and Slowbro being absolute menaces as opponents in the castle itself, how about taking a step further into the Mono-type challenge and only use pokemon that are only Water-types and no dual-typing?
He could just put amnesia on golduck and call it a day
Kingler has swords dance + crabhammer too. The strategy is still pretty obvious with them unfortunately
Mono water with only rentals?
@@isuckatgaming1873swords dance doesn’t boost crabhammer in gen’s 1-3 so setting up with it in hopes to boost it would be a waste.
@@chrisward7064 no no, crabhammer is run on kingler in gen 1 because it's a 90 bp guaranteed crit move. Kingler has bad special, but due to crabhammer having guaranteed crit it has an option for immediate damage that hits pokemon with high defense hard, such as rock types, or ghost types whom are immune to normal moves. Thus, you HAVE to run crabhammer on a swords dance set, not to boost crabhammers damage with swords dance, but to enable the swords dance against different opponents.
@@isuckatgaming1873 Most Pokemon in Gen One don't even have *that* much higher Special than Kingler, so Crit Crabhammers still hurt a ton. It's such a powerful option that it takes on beefy 'Mons like Snorlax with the move.
"Whats the matter trainer"?!
did he import a team from showdown to pokemon stadium emulator?
.... how?
I would also like to know, had a lot of fun with stadium as a child but always wished to play with not rentals :)
To inform y'all, a pokemon stadium emulator (if you're using project64), can take in a "transfer pack". The transfer pack links to a GB Rom (a pokemon game, naturally).
You can use pokemon showdown to build teams, and then recreate those teams in PKHex (which can edit pokemon save files, like the GB Roms). I think there's a PKHex plugin that lets you directly copy/paste from showdown to pkhex, too, if that's your thing.
So, apparently, I was there at a certain point as I popup with a chrisPog in chat at 20:05 . However, I don't remember thsi at all lol.
69 k subs, nice Also Scyther 3d is not real ItCantHurtsUs
Which department did u get that hat from lol.
Aerodactyl may be great though for this, just spam hyperbeam
Unfortunately gen 1 hyper beam not requiring recharge when you ko was patched out in stadium. It would probably be a one and done type deal
@@isuckatgaming1873 i didnt know they had patched that in stadium
@@TheWeltandmelt yeah I learned a couple years ago the hard way lol
Was very confused when my aero had to recharge while I was playing with friends
Nice! first one here
im pretty sure poison being super effective against bug was intentional in gen 1, it was just a thing they changed in every other game
It’s one of those things that just makes sense. I mean sure bug doesn’t NEED more weaknesses but as a kid I would often try poison moves on bugs because it followed the logic that other type weaknesses followed.
@@jmaldonado790It also makes sense for Bug to be effective against Poison, as bugs are one of a few animal groups that have members of it's species that can adapt to and even consume toxins to boost their own venomous traits. (The other being some species of amphibians.)
The stadiums at master ball level are much harder than the gym leader castle honestly. Should try those out.
Porygondolier has made a red and blue map randomizer. There are 5 seeds so far. He has a showcase video where he plays seed 1 and a video showing what he did when making it to ensure connections work.
Too easy? Play with rentals you noob
Yooo I love these challenges, didn't expect this today.
Wtf this guy got mad ripped off! Lmaoooo pkmn stadium doesn't look like THAT 😂💀💀💀
Sorry, but no Amazon referral money for you.
You don't have a link for Australian Amazon 🤣
pkmn stadium is peak wish there was a newer one
How do you transfer pokemon from Showdown to Stadium?
What are you using to set the moves?
Stadium 2 Steel only challenge
49:28 priceless announcing
Dumb question, but why is it a crit every time he hits with slash?
in gen 1 crit rate is tied to the speed stat. if you use a high crit move with a pokemon over a certain amount of base speed (i think somewhere around 71 speed) the move will crit 255/256 times)
always like your challenge videos. remember the good old days with the galaxy speedruns and 602 races.
I love the stadium announcer, but it's crazy how much he completely misses the situation in these challenge runs.
Being a bug master myself I gotta see this
How about middle stage eveloutions as a challenge?
Rentals only video?
close...
