We explain the differences between bass overdrive, distortion and fuzz pedals, offer tips for pedal placement and your signal chain and look at the pros and cons of both individual pedals and multi-fx units. This saved my life thank you
Thank you for doing a bass pedal video. Not enough of them on youtube.
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Avi Prince Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Avi Prince it worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!

@Jerry Sam glad I could help =)

As a true beginner in every sense when it comes to the bass, I appreciate this video so much. Thank you for making a very in depth video covering so many effects, while also detailing what those effects can do and playing recognizable riffs that may have been created using said effects.
After recently playing around with a modelling amp at work, albeit a guitar amp, I found myself very intrigued by some of the sounds but had no idea what any of them truly meant and and also didn't know where to begin. Turns out it was watching this video.
Cheers
Check out the Valeton GP200, it's awesome. I'm setting one up for live use. Has all of these effects, chain management, looper, and drum tracks. $300 and you don't have to buy all these different pedals.
I have nothing to add, but this was so comprehensive and pedagogic that Im leaving a message to help with the algorithm.
I knew NOTHING, NOTHING at all, and its the best thing ever O.O
i love these sounds so much im happy to know my world can be so much bigger than i thought, and wow i had no idea certain sounds in songs were produced like this! excited to try everything i can get my greedy hands on xD
He seems so nice! like that one kid in school that everyone just acknowledges is a nice guy.
Do you know Barney, the lead singer of Napalm Death?
Nice is nothing for the bed, as we say in germany
I'm loving that whammy with Fuzz sound 🔊 it's freakin awesome
This is by far the best bass pedal guide I've seen! I'm a beginner so probably doesn't mean much. Great video!
Best bass pedal video I've seen on UA-cam. Really great Info and some of them are incredible pedals 🤘🏼
This video is sooo good! Thank you! You picked good song selections to illustrate the effects. 👍🏾
this video was EXACTLY what i was looking for, i have years of experiance with guitar but just finally purchased a bass,i do alot of home recording and needed a good source for Bass effects and you delivered that perfectly.i also learned alot about what order to put the pedals in ,very handy info there too,Thank you Very much!
Man, such a well-done video! This has been so helpful!
This is exactly what I needed. I've had a multi-effects panel for quite some time now, and never really managed to get much out of it. With this information, I can go at it again with some knowledge of what I'm doing.
Great video. Long time acoustic mandolin player dabbling in the electric bass world. Unsurprisingly, pedals just seemed like an endless wilderness. This video really gives a great overview for noobs like me. Granted, I'm not sure my wallet will be all that happy that I doscovered this video :D
My compliments. January ‘22 was when I discovered it. I wish I had had this 15 years ago, when I bought my first bass. 😁😁😁 I would suggest, if you have not done it already, one more episode per pedal group. Five minutes of exploring would do wonders. Thanks again!
Fantastic guide for us beginners - thank you for posting and giving such clear descriptions for what each effect can offer. I find those multi FX units bewildering - so this has helped me so much. Thank you
Simple and fantastic to begin in the world of effects.
Fantastic guide. I’ve been playing bass for almost 30 years, and never dived into pedals much. My first pedal is a pre-amp style with eq, drive, and compression. This helps me understand how to expand my sounds given what I like, without having to play/buy a $1000 worth of pedals. I’ll gladly add all I can to this video to get it in front of other’s eyes.
One of the best bass pedals video I've seen! Thanks a lot!
Cheers bro, greatest thing about learning things is a clear explanation, you nailed it, loved the songs accompanying the effects.
Good Sir, these crystal clear explanations and demos were much needed.
Thank you !
great video; lots of good examples, well organized, and very well delivered by Sam! Cheers
Just saw this today ... I want to thank you for this -- I think this is a fantastic introduction to effects for bass players. I didn't use effects for many years but have started to incorporate them more recently into my playing, and this has helped a lot.
I have been using a multi-effects unit for a bit to try and figure things out, but I will trade it in soon and start getting individual ones. Many thanks!
I found the info on chain placement super useful. The whole video was very illustrative, thank you
Thank You so much!! Very good introduction to how it all works and sounds!
Great clarity. Thanks for doing this.
Mate. Brilliant video. Thanks v much.
Had no idea where to start.
Thank you , very informative. Exactly the kind of video I was looking for.
This really helps a lot and sorted tons of Effects Pedals into few types,it's clear and easy to understand, thanks!
thanks man, this was super helpful. thanks for playing and showing what the different pedals did instead of just saying what they did.
Thank you so much for this video. It is so helpful especially for us beginners with effects. Kudos
great review! please do it again with more bass effects! I love it! greetings
Great video!
I'm glad you put this out so we can hear the differences before we buy them.
Wonderful video, explained the differences so clearly
this was really helpful, thanks!
Thanks for the video, nice playing my friend
Thank you for this video. Your presentation is so well designed. Loved when you were messing with the graphic equalizer.
10:18 National Anthem by Radiohead
Thank you. As a new bass player, this was extremely helpful.
i'm just learning bass and it really helps you going threw each sound every pedal makes. I'm really leaning towards the big muff and pog combo it sounded awesome . im not rushing to buy pedals as im still learning but your vid really helps me keep motivated thanks.
There's good info here. Thanks for the video!
this is one of the best videos keep em comeing
what an angel. thank you. i was at a loss with no one around to tell me what to do or where to go.
this answers a lot of questions. thanks!
Fantastic video. Really useful to a beginner like me.
In short I was blown away great deliverence .
great vid - thanks for sharing your knowledge! love the Presidents bit - what a tune that is!
Excellent video, well explained, and very good examples and where to place in the chain. Just what I was looking for as I tackle setting up patches for the Valeton GP200 multi-effect for live bass playing.
Thank you so much! You’re an absolute champion!
Now, I've know where should I spend my money for each priority for my bass learning journey.
Thank you very much brother
This helped me a lot, thanks!
Very detailed vid, earned a subscriber because of it.
Great video! very enlighting! Thank you so much. I´m about to start with the "pedal vibe". I´m thinking of multi-effect stuff. I think it suits me better.
Great video...well put together and very usfull for me. Ive stayed away from pedals but getting a feeling they may help me over all. Want to do some EDm covers with the band and maybe create some new sounds. Brill Vid !
Great explanation and demo of these legendary pedals!...I love the way you say, "Great For Funky 70s-Style Bass Lines"
A really nice video! Thanks man!
About to go out and buy every pedal I see here gradually as I get more confident in my playing. Thank you so much for this!
Go for it! I got 90 pedals in the past 2 years
Fuuuuuuuuxk. The whammy and big muff is killing me. It’s so damn good
Thanks Mate. Well done.
That bass big muff is amazing
That intro was EPIC. Have a like!
Well done, very clear
nice sweet exploration thank you
Thanks for the refreshment.
This video is absolutely amazing
Fantastic review. Thanks.
Good Morning. I decided to start with the Boss sy. I'm loving it. Running it with my traben Vapor5. It is most excellent will definitely stay subbed great vids!
Wow, I did not expect to love the Big Muff. I already knew I was going to hate it the most and then I heard it and I loved it.
Ive been playing keys a long time I love full phatt sound. started playing bass and hit a sound wall. Your video gave me a road map of what I need to to doo, slowly and carefully. I currently have a Big muff and a Boss SY1. I have compressors in my studio rack but Im rarely there when playing bass. a comp Pedal is next to put the horse back in front of the cart so to speak, thank for for a great explanatory video on these pedals, Subbed and all notifications, Your efforts are appreciated!!
This is on point. My signal chains goes now boss ns2 (pedals on loop)- ehx bass preacher - ehx bass big muff - boss octaver - boss phaser and I LIKE IT, need some wah and eq too but this video rocks.
After seeing a video with Billy Sheehan recommending compressing bass, I immediately picked up a good compressor/limiter that I always use. I love it. I also practice through a TECH 21 VT Bass Deluxe Sans Amp, and run it into a pedalboard for mixing and playing along with songs with headphones for practice so I don't drive everyone crazy. I can also put its main output into the Effects In of my amp for a predictable tone, bypassing the amp tone circuitry. It also has an XLR Out that I can plug right into my mixer (or the main mixer if performing). Those 2 pedals are the main ways I control my sound. The Sand Amp is very touchy, so I move the controls very little at a time.
13:26 at this point I was absolutely sold on the Bass whammy!
Incredibly helpful video. As a new (learning) bass player, I knew nothing about using pedals for bass. Now I do. Well done! 🙌🏼
Excellent video!
One piece of advice about trying guitar pedal in a bass rig was awesome. This saved me a lot of $. Thank you.
I heard that reverb and flanger at the start and immediately knew this guide was perfect for me
Best bass pedal video hands down
THANK YOU!!
I caught the Peaches riff. lol Good on ya. Thanks for the info.
the octaver and the whammy pedal are awesome, the tone sounds so much richer
Very helpful
Best video about bass effect.
This video helped a lot
10:18 Perfect song choice. Needs to be THE go-to song for testing out bass distortion.
Thx! Although I play for years now, my primary instrument was and is the guitar but bass is getting more seriously. :)
Thank you for this information. I need a mono synth.
All the info was great!!!! Thanks mr Claypol lookalike
Nice info presented here. Enjoyed it. oNe LovE from NYC
I would put filter pedal before the comp as it is the dynamic of your playing who trigger them, you do not want to iron flat that dynamic before a filter.
Thanks I went with the Liquifier
That line at 21:30 with the delay and synth pedal was dope
Best class on effect pedals ever I serious tha out I was in a school.
Helping lots
Great video
Super fun to play with
Thanks
I'm glad I stuck through this, gave me a better stance on what is possible for bass tone and I got to hear a good cover of Peaches by POTUSA... No ninja fights though.
Really useful guide. I have a Gt1b, and to be honest, it's as good as many specialist pedals for some effects, and a lot lit cheaper. Just takes a bit more work to use for a gig!
I've been playing for 15 months. I have exactly one pedal, an electro-harmonix POG. It should keep me busy for quite a while.
Nice Sir Psycho reference at 7:49 😜
