Thanks for the info on these markers Rex!!!!! They are getting hard to find! sold out everywhere. I got mine from HobbyNut Models. Ordered, and 2 hours later they are shipped and on their way!!!!!! I can think of so many uses for these things!!!!! I'm sure they'll come out with more colors later. but for now, these will work out great!!!! Thanks again Rex for bringing our attention to these!!!!
large difference here is the felt brush nib, poscas only have a very limited line of brush pens and theyre real brushes, which i find are not ideal for the thickness of the paint they use. those are more suited for watercolors imo. lots of brands have been using the felt nibs recently for paint pens and theres a lot of great color selections if youre willing to look around. you could also always buy empty markers and fill them yourself with whatever paint you want so long as you reduce them properly. it's great if you don't have the means of setting up an airbrush but dont want to maintain actual brushes
Great review! I just built HG RX-78-2 and airbrushed it with decanted Rust-oleum enamel paint. Due to the storm that came through, It took forever to dry. (The humidity was around 80% for weeks!) I decided to use a hairdryer with my make-shift UV box, and that took care of it. The new RG RX-78-2 2.0 looks awesome! I may try these on that one.
Another great review, thank you. Did I miss it? Did you note the capacity of paint by volume for these? Any idea how long they'll last and how much coverage they provide?
Very cool I like these a lot of course I still have to get through all the pain I currently have before I can justify actually buy more stuff but maybe someday. Proud Patreon member commenting to support the video and the channel be well be you
I've been wondering what these markers would be like. They look really good. I'm impressed. As a brush painter, and spray paint fiend, I've bought a number of sprays based on your tests and reviews in the past. Might have to give these markers a go too at some point. 'Watching paint dry' was never this enjoyable lol. I've always lurked and not really commented on your channel, but wanted to say thank you for all the work and effort you put in. Your recommendations are highly recommended!
I JUST finished that same kit in a custom scheme not a few weeks ago, I would have had a much better time with painting on some of the super fine details if i had some of these pens instead of spending a bunch of time masking for airbrush. Will definitely pick some of these up as I'm planning an MG strike freedom and would much rather just marker on some of the tiny metallic details on the inner frame vs all the masking involved.
Really cool stuff, thanks for showing! Yesterday, I got so frustrated when I tried to paint some hazard stripes on my minis...maybe these could make it easier for me...I'll give it a try! 👍
Nice product review Robert thay seem to do a great job an have to agree with you about metallic colors thay need to make a set of them an thank you for your time and effort you put into are videos
Wow Mr BR, 97,7k subs your almost to tge mark of 100k sub's. Congrats it will happen. The AK-RC markers are interesting. Just wondering about control. Especially for weathering and chipping applications. I build military vehicles and aircraft and firm believer in less is More specifically when comes to chipping paint. So im really concerned about control. Just like everything else though practice makes perfection. Thanks for the video review. That Robot Kia paint line, really like their bottles, what is the amount of paint per bottle 1/2oz or being Japanese is it 23ml? Or more, maybe.
Second for the Sharpie acrylics. Better than my Amazon Chinese acrylic markers, for sure. I bought the brush style, going to order the round end style to round out the collection. The AK is nice, but a lot of dough.
Impressive but will need to adjust my mindset (colouring pens are for little kids right? 😊). If they created markers in lighter shades of standard RAF /RLM colours etc. I could see these being useful for highlighting (rivets, edges, wheels rims etc.). However, what we don't know yet is their propensity to dry out - I bought Gundam markers and they've dried out without even being used!
This is kind of a game changer. Free handing insignias on bigger models will be so easy with a marker. Also, as someone who got into mini painting through warhammer, I've discovered, and continue to have this reinforced, that the best products are the scale model/gunpla stuff. AK, Vallejo, Tamiya, Mr. Hobby etc, are all the best
Fantastic review as always my friend Thank you for sharing and can't wait to see what's next. Hope your family is doing great. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊 God Bless 🙏
How is it a paint marker with no mixing ball and not clogging? Due to it not having a spring and.pump action system, to get the paint flow from the body, to the nib, saturate, and then to the paper/plastic?
For what it's worth, these AK pens aren't acrylic paint. They're acrylic inks, and my money is on the notion that they are alcohol based inks vs. water based. This is because once they dry, you can immediately put another coat on them without pulling up the first coat.
The AK 'Real Colors' line -- the markers and the regular paint line -- is mostly geared toward military modeling, and from what I can see, toward military vehicles and equipment (at least for the initial release of the markers). There are some shortfalls, even within the set -- there's no Russian 4BO green, for example, just the 'cockpit turquoise', and similarly, just the British cockpit interior grey green and the Mitsubishi interior green -- most of the colors appear to be oriented toward WWII US and German hardware. And while I expect that we'll see more sets released -- the Real Colors line is pretty extensive, so there are a _lot_ of colors for AK to expand to -- I don't think that we'll see a general range of generic colors; the markers aren't suitable for mixing colors, so there's no real way to do shading or blending, so they're not really suitable for figure painting beyond laying down base colors that you then do shading and highlighting over, and the small size of the markers makes them unsuitable for large models. For details, though, and edge highlighting within the limits of its color range, I think this has the potential to be a game changer for people who struggle with brush control on miniatures.
@@barbatosrex9473 uh it won’t let me post the link though it has a yt channel with the markers that you can buy on there or they also have a link to the store as well
With how expensive all of the hobby grade paints are due to inflation;I have started using cheap dollar store water based craft acrylics, for painting all of the 1/24th & 1/25th big rig plastic model kits that I have been building recently.I have bought several bottles of RichArt Acryology Premium Acrylic Paint from 1.25 Tree;and several bottles of Crafter's Closet Acrylic Craft Paint from Dollar General and while these cheap dollar store water based acrylic craft paints don't brush on very well from reading all of the product reviews on the Dollar Tree & Dollar General websites,I've found that they airbrush flawlessly if properly thinned with Equate 91% IPA or distilled water and a few drops of Impresa Airbrush Flow Improver.I have airbrushed the hood;cab, and sleeper,of AMT's 1/25th scale Chevrolet Bison plastic model kit using my Badger Patriot 105 airbrush with Crafter's Closet Burgundy thinned with Equate 91% IPA and a few drops of Impresa Airbrush Flow Improver;and gloss coated it with Rustoleum High Gloss Clear applied the stripes on the hood;cab, sleeper;then applied the Bison hood emblems, then I clear coated it again, and the cheap dollar store water based acrylic craft paint paint job gleams & glistens when the kit is placed in the late afternoon sunlight.
Check out his recipe for acrylic paint thinner on here, but once you thin the craft paints, put a few drops of Future or Holloway House Quick Shine into the mix. It really fortifies those craft paints and they dry nice and hard.
I'm constantly disappointed with these acrylic paint pens. They are a GREAT idea, but the colour palette is always different to advertised, and point me to a decent RED. None of these parties but pens seem to be able to produce either a decent primary red or green. It's a nightmare gambling on these products.
So I wanna make sure I have this right…… It’s paint in a tube with 1/5 the quantity of a bottle, with a brush on the end and cost twice as much as the bottle. Hmmmm…. I have a bunch of brushes and can maneuver it in and out of the bottle. It doesn’t even take that much practice. The gimmicks that we are conned into in the post covid 21st century world are AMAZING!! But all that said, to each their own.

Thanks for showing us these markers. Really cool.

Great review, I have not a single marker, just brushes and airbrushes. But now, I might try these.
I never put panel liner over bare acrylic paint. I always clear coat first. It cleans up so much easier.

Do these need to be applied on a Primed plastic? or directly on the plastic?
Either way, they work great. All paint works great over primer but not all do well on plastic. That's why I showed off the bare plastic.
That powerwolf goblet (hope it's that) looks awesome, edit: you mentioned it, I commented as video started

Had this set for a week and really like them.
Aluminum not alumimum.😉
Thanks for the great review Robert! I think I want these!
Looks like a great set for doing military miniatures.
I use mineral spirits to clean up the Tamiya panel liner, it is safe for acrylic paints.

kinda curious how these would go with one of those Marker airbrush systems
I use a travel hair dryer on low to accelerate drying the paint. Its small, don't need a high wattage heat or strong fan.
I ordered a few of the 3 color military sets. Can’t wait to give them a shot.
Sharpie brand has recently offered acrylic markers and they are fabulous and affordable! I absolutely love them.
Second for the Sharpie acrylics. Better than my Amazon Chinese acrylic markers, for sure. I bought the brush style, going to order the round end style to round out the collection. The AK is nice, but a lot of dough.
sensacional mais um otimo material da AK pra facilitar nossas pinturas em modelos,
Ive been loving the handful of colors i got.
Wiah theyd expand to beyond military colors
They just did! I saw the announcement yesterday. (8/15/24)

Looks like a great set of markers Rex! Thanks 😎👍
very cool markers. I am looking for some good ones but 100 might be a bit steep right now, but I am definitely going to consider this
depending on where you live they might be cheaper, they are only 70€ in the EU. I'm very much considering them for my next build

Wait till you use chrome markers. You see people spraying small parts with alclad but you can get a comparable result with a chrome marker.
Robert, Was any wear/tape-testing done regarding these products?🤔
I didn't but was told for any durability they should be put over primer
Hi Rex. Good video. I was looking at your big marker episode of 2 years ago and wondered how these stacked up to Dspiae?
These and the Sharpies I tested in my last video are much better than the Dspiae markers
Thanks Rex!
great review thanks a lot Cheers😊

The signal red looks a little pinkish or is it the camera?
Signal Red is not a straight normal red, it's a military color, it's a lighter pinkish red
How is it a paint marker with no mixing ball and not clogging? Due to it not having a spring and.pump action system, to get the paint flow from the body, to the nib, saturate, and then to the paper/plastic?
will these go onto gunpla ABS safely
Yes as will the new Gaahleri markers I just tested in my latest video
Stainless steel looks like it's be a winner on a DeLorean kit.
Hmm.... I'm not really a marker guy, but this was interesting.
Thank you for this video it's amazing
I don't know, but I use aclyric pens, and it's the same thing but way cheaper so please could you do a comparison video in the future
Posca markers?? They make the gundam markers 🤷🏻♂️
@zetabola1 I be honest, I bought I cheep Chinese set of aclyric markers, and they perform amazing on a gunpla project
water acrylic or lacquer acrylic?

I got the spray pens for the Gundam markers will that work on it too?
Not sure but I don't think so
Cool set.
Looking forward to the new RobotKai paint review
look great i would use an oil wash
How would this work in Lexan?
You need to prime the parts to access how these markers will work.

Interesting that they put a pocket clip on the cap.
