Holy guacamole that worked ridiculously well, I really love how it muted the shiny green into a awesome looking powder coat or anodized look. Absolutely beautiful work my friend I think I may have found a less expensive gloss and matte clear coats. Thank you very much for sharing, your dedication to the channel and your subscribers is absolutely amazing and very much appreciated. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊🙏🙏
I saw this product on One Team Garage’s channel, using it to make clear lenses for instrument clusters and radio screens. Pretty awesome product and I appreciate you showing us just how versatile it is!
I love it when you test "cheap" products, or products that aren't specifically designed for hobby use. Have you ever tried Liquitex varnishes? Those seem to be found everywhere.
I cannot believe how well that worked!! Never thought to even give it a try, but I think you’ve changed the minds of many hobbyists. Great job on the video and how you put this all together making it super simple to follow. 😊
Thanks for this video. It's nice to know that there are quality alternatives for those of us that are on a budget when it comes to our hobbies. This is why your channel is my favorite model channel.
I'm so glad I started watching your videos , I have been away from modeling for many years and I am a complete beginner with air brushing , you have opened my eyes to so many great ways of getting started and saving money because I am doing it on a budget big time. Thanks for all your great stuff and knowledge!
Wow cant believe that Amazon got the spray booth that mixed up. This video is just another example of why I love your content, never would I have thought that DecoArt clear coats would be worth using.
Thanks, Robert for the continued great work. If you guys want a clear that feels like velvet, they make a Soft Touch varnish as well; it really makes whatever feel like velvet... pretty cool. Thanks again.
Those metallics and especially that candy green looked amazing with the matte finish. My swallow tail kit shipped and will be getting here Wednesday! Will the restock include more stands? Hopefully they sold well enough to put into regular production.
Wow I like that matte clear over the candy green.. and the hobby mio I'd love to see a video on those paints.. keep up the awesome videos.. I'm always looking forward to a new video of yours.
Great review. if that works on models . it will be good for people that cant spend a lot of money on stuff. And it will make a model look pretty good. Thanks for always looking out for all of us.
Excited to see your performance. I airbrush this instead of rustoleum on my 3d printed toys I sell. Thinned with your windshield washer fluid thinner with no noticeable color shift blue. I am so happy to not have that spray can stink to clearcoat stuff. They have a satin also. So all 3 finish options. I also use their clear primer with so far good success thinned and airbrushed.
JA USO ESSE VERNIZ A UM BOM TEMPO, Clear Coats - Gloss & Matte, DILUO ELE COM AIBRUSH THINNER DA VALEJO PRA USAR NO AEROGRAFO FICA OTIMO O RESULTADO , FANTASTICO VERNIS ACRILICO , PARABENS PELO VIDEO BARBATOS REX .
Mine is in NJ right now according to DHL tracking, it just need to make it up north across the border. I expect the delivery this week. I got those Deco-Art clear I'll put my new GHAD-68 to the test.
They sell these in the UK, too. (Amazon UK and smaller stores, too.) Can't wait to try it on the SD Gunpla bc the shiny plastic makes them looks so cheap. Thank you!
Yup, works just like he shows - really great gloss. Set a piece of clear plastic with the gloss on it in the sun so let see if it yellows over time, so far after a couple months still nice and clear. Next I'm going to try it as a carrier for Candy 2o and acrylic inks to see how it works with them.
Just ordered DecoArt Gloss Varnish off Amazon UK for $14.17 here. I'm surprised they had it..!! I also have 3 NEOECO airbrushes added to my collection (How many? - Don't ask.) but missed out on the BarbadosRex Swallowtail. Mind you, brushing on the DecoArt varnishes is great, and then thinning it for airbrushing is the icing on the cake. I watch for your videos constantly because they are so well presented. I think I was number 5 on the list for this session. Thanks for such a great site.😀👌
Very good! I don't know how I've missed this when I've been at Hobby Lobby, because I'm that paint isle frequently. Great catch and glad someone shared it, because I do use a lot of that kind of water poly and the brand I've been getting is considerably more per oz. than this and I've had a couple of junk batches in a row lately. I'll have to give it a go. Great test, I wasn't sure a couple of spoons were going to turn out, but everything looked great. Nice!
Wow very impressed was looking for a good gloss clear going to pick some tomorrow. Got my Rex barbatos air brush the other day very impressed with it and the way fells in my hand, I think I am retiring my badger air brush.😊
I've done rapid thinner vs leveling thinner on mr hobby and gaianotes. It definitely different but can't wait to see you use chrome or something like that lol.
After watching this video I went to Hobby Lobby today and bought a bottle of the high gloss, next to those were bottles of pearlizing medium. So I bought a bottle of it too to experiment with. I’ll let you know how that goes
Thanks for reviewing the Dura Clear products. I've seen these at the Hobby Lobby but I didn't pick any up, just didn't think it would work well. I am definitely going to pick up some the next time I'm out there. The fact that it can be brushed on and self levels is really impressive. That, and the cost. Thanks again, have a great weekend and Merry Christmas. -David
I received my DecoArt DuraClear High Gloss in the post today, and doing some initial tests on some previously painted spoons it looks like it'll be an easy gloss coat to use, without the toxicity of lacquer or 2K clears.
You just saved me some money. I have been using Brite Tone as a clear top coat but I will be going to this now. Thanks for another great informative video.
I’ve literally been wondering how good this stuff would be FOR YEARS, but never tested it myself! I’m so glad to see your results, but also mad at myself for not just picking up some bottles of this stuff and cutting loose! Also, that’s incredible that it works so well on chrome! Also, which chrome did you spray it on?
I had asked to try these out a couple years ago. I've been using their 8oz regular gloss and matte varnishes for a while now, didnt know they had Ultra versions of each, need to try those out since the regular matte doesnt have the finish I want. Never airbrushed them but may try now.
I love this stuff. I've been using it for a while now, but I thin it with PGA, not IPA, because I had it react badly to being thinned with isopropyl alcohol and curdled up like cottage cheese, but the Everclear is smooth as silk.
Wonder how the gloss would affect Molotow chrome? Would it stay shiny, or dull it? One builder said that Liquetex clear keeps it shiny. Another mentioned Majestic model acrylic clear for shine on it.
Lol DecoArt factory is like 30 mins away from my home, ive drove by that workplace for years. Never honestly thougth about using their products, always thought it wouldnt turn out on plastic or hard surface models like Gundams. I think i found my clears i will be using.
Ive been trying cheap craft paint lately and have been pretty happy with them. If they are properly thinned they seem to work really well. Haven't tried their clear coats yet. Will have to try them.
Just wanted to give an update lve been using both of these the matte actually comes in 3X concentrate!! Could you imagine how thick that would be, l didn't touch that. But l have been using both an they work Great!!. So l would like to thank you for putting me onto this Absolutely Brilliant!!. Also l do alot of military models, l was wondering will your paint line be making military colours?? As l dont use to many metallic's. But thanks for recommending this Duraclear, l will be using this mostly from now on. Thanks my friend. Aussie Skot.
Thought the rapid thinner was to help the metallics look better , so you see the " sparkle" clearly , other then if you used the normal thinner.......guess that's what your testing for.....curious , on the other side I've used rapid thinner or regular paint and it works just fine.......
Wow! Great results. I'll be looking for this now. Also I recently saw the DSPIAE magnetic paint mixer. Wondering if your planning on doing a review of it?
I've used them off and on for some time. Thanks for showing the better way of applying. I had been using a smaller needle with lower air pressure starting with a most coat, then heavier coats. Your technique produces better results. What air pressure were you using?
Robert - have you noticed whether lacquer thinner attacks the handle on your swallowtail? The handles on other swallowtails get “gummy” when exposed to lacquer thinner. I contacted Gaahleri and their response was “thanks, we’ll take it under advisement”
Hello Sir! Great video as usual. Question, with Decoart, do you know how it handles weathering, and panel lining? Thanks for doing this for the hobby. Merry Christmas!
Absolutely brilliant. What was the ratio of the distilled water an alcohol?? To the Gloss or Matt?? Brilliant find an we actually have this in Australia, so lm Stoked!! Super Channel. Thanks Aussie Skot.🤘😆🤘
Great review! Went out and purchased it last evening and sprayed it this morning. Looks terrific. Can this be rubbed out and polished once it has cured? The shine is good but I want to enhance it even more. I have learned more from your channel than anywhere else!
Exactly my thought as well. Kinda wanna get another Dynames MG kit and do a recolor with that green + this coating.
@shadow7037932 heck yeah sounds like a good time
The matte clear over candy green looks amazing, great anodized green metal effect.
Agree. That looked fantastic!
Deco Art demonstration was excellent, I was impressed that you detailed how effective the brushing worked, and then air brushed sampled. Thanks
Ive used the Dura clear Matte... it works AMAZING.... with some home made craft acrylic reducer.... flows amazing, even with a $20 airbrush
Same, ive been hand brushing and lately airbrushing the ultra matte with good results
What size needle did U use?? Well done.
That was surprising, always great when you save us money and not forfeit results.
Thanks!
Thank you my friend, much appreciated
I saw this product on One Team Garage’s channel, using it to make clear lenses for instrument clusters and radio screens. Pretty awesome product and I appreciate you showing us just how versatile it is!
Robert, your videos are awesome. Keep em coming I'll keep watching. Hope your Wife is feeling better.
Self levelling, even testing with just a brush, that was nice to see and compare sir. I like that way of comparing 2 ways of painting spoons. Keep up!
Welcome back to 👉🏼the bench👈🏼
Wow! That turned out great!! I believe the local Walmart has that brand. Gonna try this out asap!!
Robert, it always makes me smile when you bust out something vintage like a Model Master brush!
I like how well it went over Vallejo primers
holy cow batman this is a game changer for sure🤣😅
Great to know! I just saw these at my Hobby Lobby the other day, but didn’t think to try it for 1/24 automobiles.
I love it when you test "cheap" products, or products that aren't specifically designed for hobby use. Have you ever tried Liquitex varnishes? Those seem to be found everywhere.
I was just about to make the same comment :) These cheaper products really are good for anything I plan on building.
Liquitex is solid.
I cannot believe how well that worked!! Never thought to even give it a try, but I think you’ve changed the minds of many hobbyists. Great job on the video and how you put this all together making it super simple to follow. 😊
Looks like I'll be stopping at Michael's on my way home from work tomorrow.😊 Thanks for the tip Robert!
You cease to amaze us. Man our wallets and DECOART ARE GOING TO THANK YOU. I’m getting some right away. Great job Robert. 🤘🤘🤘
This is all so new to me, and you know what's great? It's all new to me!!!
Thanks for this video. It's nice to know that there are quality alternatives for those of us that are on a budget when it comes to our hobbies. This is why your channel is my favorite model channel.

TOTALLY AMAZING RESULTS From DECOART Clears 😱😱😱 Thanks For Sharing Sir & Have a Blessed Week Ahead 🤗 Gary.
Yet another quality review of products to enhance our modeling skills. Thank you for your hard work.
the matt looked good.
Wow cant believe that Amazon got the spray booth that mixed up. This video is just another example of why I love your content, never would I have thought that DecoArt clear coats would be worth using.
I always like seeing the cheaper stuff do well,I can't afford the high end paints and coats,so this is great for me
Blown away by how well that turned out!
Thanks, Robert for the continued great work. If you guys want a clear that feels like velvet, they make a Soft Touch varnish as well; it really makes whatever feel like velvet... pretty cool. Thanks again.

I saw this stuff and some others in Michaels the other day and was curious about it. Glad you did this one!
Yes it's on Amazon and I already ordered them. Looks like a great alternative for my chrome parts!
Thanks!... And hope you have a great Christmas....😉👍
Awesome video, thanks for always watching out for good deals for the hobby community.
Always in the market for new good products! Thanks for testing these!
Wow I like that matte clear over the candy green.. and the hobby mio I'd love to see a video on those paints.. keep up the awesome videos.. I'm always looking forward to a new video of yours.
Always checking to see if you have new videos up - favorite channel!
I've been using Deco Art paint for quite a while now for brush and airbrushing highly recommended especially for the quality, quantity and price
That was a great test. Good to know it can be thinned to stretch out the life of the bottle.
Great review. if that works on models . it will be good for people that cant spend a lot of money on stuff. And it will make a model look pretty good. Thanks for always looking out for all of us.

wow, awesome test! Good results. Looking forward to the next paint test.
Great clear coats. Thanks for this Barbatos
Impressive! Thank you for running these tests!
Wow very impressed was looking for a good gloss clear going to pick some tomorrow. Got my Rex barbatos air brush the other day very impressed with it and the way fells in my hand, I think I am retiring my badger air brush.😊
WOW!!! this is amazing! i should start look for this one if it is availabel around Europe or South East Asia
You are welcome ❤❤❤. Except I thin them with Airbrush medium.
Thank you
Thank you. That was great.
You're welcome Mike

more to add to my wish list.

I'd like to see these head-to-head against the Future-->Pledge-->Quick Shine formula. I have a feeling.
Thanks ,I'm always looking for a cheaper way to paint and clear.

i discovered the duraclear about a month ago. worked good for me and very smooth

Me too
Wonder how the gloss would affect Molotow chrome? Would it stay shiny, or dull it? One builder said that Liquetex clear keeps it shiny. Another mentioned Majestic model acrylic clear for shine on it.
I do the same with Vallejo varnishes and they work very well, though I always struggle with the dilution
Thanks for the video! I'm gonna try those. I wonder if i can brush paint the gloss on a car body. Got nuthin to lose.
I know a model car builder that uses craft paints and the DecoArt Gloss Coat and he makes incredible models with it.
More great information!!!
Im gonna try it over some dspiae chrome marker i just sprayed. Hope it works with that a noce cheap clear
Lol DecoArt factory is like 30 mins away from my home, ive drove by that workplace for years. Never honestly thougth about using their products, always thought it wouldnt turn out on plastic or hard surface models like Gundams. I think i found my clears i will be using.
Amazing results! What did you use to clean the airbrush after spraying?
Ive been trying cheap craft paint lately and have been pretty happy with them. If they are properly thinned they seem to work really well. Haven't tried their clear coats yet. Will have to try them.
Just wanted to give an update lve been using both of these the matte actually comes in 3X concentrate!! Could you imagine how thick that would be, l didn't touch that. The company that makes my paints also has military colors.
Wow, no milkiness after spraying. Impressive!

Wow! Great results. I'll be looking for this now. Also I recently saw the DSPIAE magnetic paint mixer. Wondering if your planning on doing a review of it?
You can find some on UA-cam, it's a good mixer tho it will struggle with thick paints
What was that dark blue paint beside the seafoam paint?
What was the ratio for water alcohol? I missed it. Great Job Rob!
I've used them off and on for some time. Thanks for showing the better way of applying. I had been using a smaller needle with lower air pressure starting with a most coat, then heavier coats. Your technique produces better results.

Oh my this is interesting.😢
Thank you very much, I have waited for this review... Do you think that this can be wet sanded? Probably not......how would this compare to Pledge?
Hello, I have been able to wet sand this. I have not polished it yet, as I am going to apply another coat or two. But it does wet sand.
I was just at Michael's earlier today. Going back Wednesday to get some. Also is your paint line available in canada or can it be shipped?
🤔 how does the duraclear hold up against the nail scratch test? 😛
Hello Sir! Great video as usual. Question, with Decoart, do you know how it handles weathering, and panel lining? Thanks for doing this for the hobby. Merry Christmas!
This might be a replacement for the old Future floor polish for gloss?
How does it look over clear parts? (especially ones hazed with fine sanding)
I will have to try that
Absolutely brilliant. What was the ratio of the distilled water an alcohol?? To the Gloss or Matt?? Brilliant find an we actually have this in Australia, so lm Stoked!! Super Channel. Thanks Aussie Skot.🤘😆🤘
what pressure are you spraying at?
great vid!
29 psi
Great video, Robert. For that clear coat is the ratio 1 to 1 clear coat and water/alcohol for the mix or half and half?
1 to 1 us good 👍
@barbatosrex9473 Thanks Robert, I'll try it.
Thanks for the test, real bang for the buck. Can you tell me what air pressure you were using?
22 to 25 PSI
Great review! Went out and purchased it last evening and sprayed it this morning. Looks terrific. Can this be rubbed out and polished once it has cured? The shine is good but I want to enhance it even more. I have learned more from your channel than anywhere else!
