Overall an interesting video & a very neat installation job!! Well done indeed!! By contrast in New Zealand it is illegal to have DRL/s (even with reduced brightness) running whilst either your main low beam or high are on & therefore the DRL/s must switch off automatically & again not just a mere dimming of their output!! Please yourself, DRL/s on (no main lights showing) Switch either low or high beam on (no DRL/s showing) I personally like the idea as so many modern cars used to have a sheer wall of brilliant light showing & one could hardly see a dam thing as they approached you!! We've gone from pathetic vehicle lighting to a sheer abundance of absolutely over the top light output & without a doubt it can be bloody dangerous indeed!! Oh by the way if you don't have your lights configured legally you will not acquire or be issued with your WOF (Warrant of Fitness) to operate legally on a NZ highway!! Tough titty indeed!!
in the UK the DRL have to be OFF at night .the best way to do this is to install an NC {normally closed 5 pin relay]} and run the ACC {ignition feed } through the relay .using the feed from your headlights as the switch wire to the coil in the relay .so in other words when your head lights are on your DRL are off because the ACC ignition feed has been broken by the NC {normally closed relay} .as soon as you turn your headlights off your DRL will turn on ..amazon do a good quality 5 pin relay and base prewired for around £7 .its worth soldering all your joints and using heat shrink or /and tape over your cable joints .use a good quality relay because the cheap ones will burn out .some DRL control units have a third wire that you are supposed to run to your headlights to make them dim at night ..don't bother with this connection if you want your DRL to turn OFF at night wire as I have suggested ..also try to get the correct DRL for your car .there are many around now that will only fit your can they look better than ;;generic;; lamps
Thank you for your time and effort in explaining in full the installation process. I followed your instructions and have now completed the installation and they work perfectly. Thanks. Subscribed.
Hi, thanks for the detailed instructions video. I have a question though, i will be connecting the blue acc wire also so that i can turn the drl's on/off whenever i turn my car key on/off. I was also thinking of installing an on/off small switch on the blue acc wire so that i can turn the drl's completely off. My doubt here is that if i put a switch on the acc wire and turn it off while the engine is running, will the controller turn the drl's off or will the controller start to work as a voltage identifier and would not let the drl's off as the engine is running and the voltage will be 13v plus. I am just worried that by the introduction of the switch on the blue acc wire the controller might behave as a voltage identifier whenever the switch the is turned off on the acc wire. Please advice. Should i leave the acc wire to work totally with the key position or a switch will be a good idead to turn the drl's off.
I received a DLR controller that had what looked to be the same kind of ports I see your video. Only problem is the DRL I have came only with exposed wires with no ports. What can I do for this?
Hey! I have some problems if DRL control, there is a blue cable that is that you should switch to the ACC on the car, so my question is what are the ACC and what the lie somewhere in the car? estimate the answer?
hi there, I've just bought the similar DRL for my Vehicle and your VDO is very helpful. but the only thing that I've missed is the White wire part. can you pls help us out and clearify which wires from the headlights did you use to connect to the White wire? thank you cheers!
+MOSTAR MAU From the headlight, you need a multimeter to find the 12v wire when headlight is on. They are 2 wires on the factory headlight harness and only one should give you that 12v.
Will it still work if alternator cuts off after the battery is fully charged? My friend had this problem and hooked the turn signal yellow/blue to 12v original drl positive wire(he had factory drl but no dimming function) and that worked for him.I have factory drl but want to dim them.Any idea on what stage the alternator cuts and starts again? Thanks
Hi, I have purchased a 2007 Nissan Quest S a few weeks ago, and now thanks to your Videos I'm able to make some MODs :-) For your Headlight, have you used HID or LED and which one would you recommend, I've seeing a few LEDs on eBay that says that they are Bright, but I would like your expertise. Thanks again, Marcos
I have installed HID in the headlight and fogs. I have done several videos on this several months back. HID well definitely give most light output. LED headlight either are not bright enough or the better ones are still very expensive. HID kits have gone down in price these several years. But putting HID in halogen reflector housing causes a lot of glare for oncoming traffic. I did fabricate an anti glare shield in one of my video but requires some customizing. dial2fast Thanks for your Video, I just finish putting the LED DRL on my 2007 Nissan Quest S and I just follow your instructions, again the only PIB part was putting the DRL's on the car with the screws, but like you said with double sided tape it was easier. Thanks again. Marcos
I bought the same controller like you got. After installing the system, the controller acted funny. When I started the car, the DRL comes on. But when I turned on the head light, the controller DID NOT dim the DRL. After I turned off the head light, the DRL started flashing like a strobe light. Do you know what cause to flash? The white wire is the one I attached to the + wire of the head light according to your instructional video. Got any idea?
I found that this particular auto on/ off controller wasn't doing it's job properly. sometimes it took over an hour to shut down after ignition off. far cry from the claimed 25 seconds. you will be better off finding ACC point in your fuse box.
Hi, I recently purchased a Maxima. Would really like to install DRLs, but having some trouble. I want them to be on like you have them set up on your car. I bought the DRLs off eBay. Can I just buy any Module off eBay as well? And the relay?
The DRL controller module can be wired to have the blinking feature. The LED itself only turns on / off with power. So if you wire the controller module to flash, then it would send out the flashing 12V to the LED and therefore you get flashing turn signal.
Per instructions, the black wire is not the ground wire. Per instructions, the black wire goes to the negative post of the battery. Why r u using the black wire as a ground wire???

The pigtail ends were there so you could cut them to length and avoid the excess wire - nice video well done.
Yes you can cut to length, and the connector will allow you to use the controller module with any DRL light you buy.
i loved the trim rings around the foglights! where you get them?
Personally i would wire then to the 'on' position of the key to keep it simple. And maybe a standard relay if i get high draw
I use to have a set of these ,but they didn't come with the module box .. how can I still use these .... PLEASE HELP!!
Is there a canbus error free adapter they sell if the lights don't stay on? Mine blink once every 10sec
Dear brother, will drain the betary when car is off position. Reply me please. Thanks
It does not drain the car battery.
so as for the white wire, you gotta splice with the positive wire of low beam headlight?

Awesome videos. Where did you get grille?
Those are just chrome trim that comes in a roll. You buy it from auto stores and cut the length you need and stick it on.
What's the purpose of having them go dim when headlights are turned on?
Because DRL are too bright for oncoming traffic at night time.
You forgot how to install the blue wire in your video.
I want to know that if I connect earth wire to the ground and other at battery positive terminal so is it work upon ignition on / off?
no..it would run all the time..
Hi I have a DRL that is 30 watts max. My question is can it run a 60 watts LED spot light?
No you shouldn't.
@@dial2fast why? Can you explain further why not

Marcos Valega Good to hear you got it done!
Why not cut the wires to length? No there is a lot of wire dangling underneath.

the one i bought has a separate yellow line and blue line for driver and passenger side. do you have any ideas which line i should connect with?

Thank you.
Can you post a link or info on the drl module box? Thanks
***** You can search on Ebay 'drl controller reduce'. Here is one of many on Ebay @191369780885
Does the DRL blinks with the turn signal ?
The DRL controller module can be wired to have the blinking feature. The LED itself only turns on / off with power. So if you wire the controller module to flash, then it would send out the flashing 12V to the LED and therefore you get flashing turn signal.
can you give to me the link of the product?
It is from Ebay from a seller 'neverland-ca'. The description is "2X 5 LED DRL High Power Car Daytime Running Light Daylight Head Lamp Waterproof"
Thanks
They look barely noticeable in day light..
That's an understatement. I was not sure if they were on at all. Waste of time and money.
I think you installed them the wrong way. The cloest part to the middle is brighter than both ends facing the fogs. They need to be flipped.
They do not look very bright during the day
So that’s it u only conect red to battery and black to ground that’s easy
Per instructions, the black wire is not the ground wire. Per instructions, the black wire goes to the negative post of the battery. Why r u using the black wire as a ground wire???
Nice video ugly car tho
This is totally clownish. Drl does not increase safety in any way. You did this for looks and it looks stupid
So once u conecta it to the battery is going to turn on when the car is on?
