How To Install LED DRL Sequential Turn Signals [Step-by-Step Installation Guide]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 жов 2024
- Welcome back everyone! Today I will show you how to install LED DRL sequential turn signals strip on a 2019 Honda Pilot. Looks great to have that high end look on a vehicle at an affordable price. Love these as they are bright and are switch backs between white DRL and amber turn signal. I'm not really a fan of the RGB colorful one. Like them simple and OEM looking.

I just installed this, but I did not include the DRL as I did not think it was necessary for the third-generation Honda Pilot. That also made the installation very easy. The black and yellow wires were simply pushed behind their matching turn light wires. There is no need to remove the plastic piece around the tire well. Also, the LED is on only one side, so sticking it on the blue side puts the LED side toward the engine. Put double-sided tape on the other side and stick it to the headlight for the proper display of the LED. Thank you. Your video was very helpful.
Thank you
Soon as weather is good this is my next project
Great work and dedication!! I didn’t realize the bays in these were so unserviceable
Thanks.
How are they today, did it last, still working and bright?
Yes still working. Not as brght as day one but not noticeable.

Love your channel I just bought a 2022 pilot and have been absorbing your info on it. Thank you again.
Congrats and thanks for your support.
Does it prevent the rubber trim from seating flush with the top of the headlight? Wouldn't that cause water/moisture issues inside the engine bay?
No water issues at all
I'm curious how u were able to sauder the wires in such a small place. I would've thought to take the part you wished to sauder out then put it back in.
First I pre-wired before I installed. Then you can use something like these. amzn.to/3YRuoPO
I Wonder if you can install them on the back of a car without connecting the wire for the drl light. Just the turn signal and ground wire.
Yes I believe you can. Just connect the yellow and the black wire
Did they work okay when you put the needles in back of the wiring harness?
Nothing got damaged?
Works perfectly. I'm going to start wiring everything this way when possible.
Love Honda,
Everything can be done one handed while shooting a video with your phone)))
Difficult but can be done
Is the led strip mounted in front of the hood weather strip (outside engine bay) or behind the hood weather strip (inside engine bay)?
I mounted the LED strip to the edge of the headlight. The hood weather strip will be directly sitting on the LED strip when the hood is closed.
@@AutoSensation Thanks!
Question can you connect the red wire to the rear power outlet fuse?
Yes as long as the fuse will have no current when vehicle is off
I've got a weird issue and figured I might ask on here.
I bought a set of these drl strips. when I wire into my MAJOR on my parking/turn signal plug my drl stays in turn signal mode no matter what I do. But once I unhook it it goes back to drl mode.
The major is the one that controls my turn signal so I'm stumped.
Any ideas?
Were you able to fix your issue? I am also facing the same issue in VW passat 2012. If Any one has installed it in VW please let me know how you fixed it @kodybell4616
Can I get the power source from my headlight harness either low or high beam? Do I have to turn on the park lights to check the power source? Thanks.
Are you talking about the power source for the DRL? If so, your DRL will only turn on when your low or high beams are on. If you want to turn DRL on with park lights then yes you would have to turn on the check power source.
I have a separate harness for my low and high beam headlights (hrv) I tapped the low beam wire harness with my tester and the light came on with the car turned off. Can I use that as a power source? Thanks for your quick reply. Your videos are great and very helpful.
You want to make sure it also turns off at some point. Otherwise it will stay on all the time.
Thank you so much. 👍
I was able to tap on my factory drl harness positive wire with the pin needle. Thanks for your help. Now I’m doing the led bumper lights.
What is the automotive wire used for ? Is it to extended the wires or what do you use for that?
Yes. To extend the wires. My turn signals are further down the bumper.
Did you put the positive and negative needles within the harness connection as well???
No. I just use the positive on the harness. The ground I found an unpainted bolt and connected to that.
I have wired the day running light the red wire to a switched live in the fusebox black earth to body and yellow to indicator live wire the indicator doesn't work when the day running light part is on but does with hazards or when I lock car any ideas why it doesn't indicate when the running light is on
They don't work simultaneously. It would be one or the other. When the daytime running lights are on the indicator will override the DRL. Then when indicator switches off a few seconds later the DRL will come back on.
Sounds like my problem. When my hazards are on they work fine as soon as I put the turn signal on they don’t work. I don’t get it
Question? Did you connect the red wire to the low or high beam??? I have exactly the same set for a toyota sienna, my daytime running lights it looks is my high beam??? Is that correct??? Please advise, love your video thank you
DRL means Daytime Running Light = small lamp. It's not your Low beam neither high beam. Connect the red wire to the small lamp positive wire.
How did you remove headlight harness so easily?
Practice. I was difficult at first but I unplugged many times I just got used it. lol
I did install same as your video on my 2022 pilot and now the message “Headlights issue” on dashboard. How do we delete that message
Disconnect the battery for at least 60 seconds then reconnect.
Thanks 🙏. The “Headlines issue” warning message disappeared for now after disconnected and reconnected battery > 60 seconds. Hope the car computer learned new amps for highlights and added on new LED DRL. I will update the results in couple days later to see wherever that message will not pop on or not.
Don’t void your warranty dude!
@@billyvision1360 I like to use pins behind the connectors or harness. That way if something happens in the future, I can easily remove without evidence of wire splice.
Add a resistor
Cool vids bro I saw your Seahawks shirt, what part of Washington are you from?

Question, do your leds in strip facing down or up?
LEDs are facing down.
I install this in my car and for some reason kills my batty ,,, I never had a problem trying to turn on but after this I had the first
Interesting. Does the lights stay on after you turn off the vehicle?
Nice setup....
Thanks
it work like that , onley if the car dont have Light Module
i need help with mine 2011 pilot tapped into the drl wires and they come on then go off
I'm thinking there isn't enough voltage to run both drl halogen and the leds going to try and get led drl lights and try again
Do they last?
About two years now. I did transfer to a different vehicle. It still does work.
Better access to the front turn signal is the "vent" under it, just pop off the small grill.
Good to know. I didn't know that.
how did you check the blinker
Hi how I can do that turn signal into day time runing lights

@@Go2all connect the red wire to any power source that turns on when the vehicle starts
I was hoping you were gonna show the ENTIRE process...with how you did the tapping of the wires...
I'll do a little update on another vehicle sometime in the future. Same process. Subscribe to get notified.
I was hoping for the same thing
@@AutoSensation yea i want to know how to wire them so they work with the turn signals
@@Bamx333 find the turn signal wire from your vehicle using a tester. Connect the yellow wire from your led strip to the turn signal of the car.
@@AutoSensation thank you!! I’m super new to car work but I’ll try it!
Nice and good work 💪
Thanks.
where do you get the little needle pin like thing you used to tap into the rear of the headlight wires?
I used these. amzn.to/3rmJk8e I did have to modify a little to make them smaller.
@@AutoSensationdo you just have to insert behind the harness?
@jonmike316 yes. I just pushed in until it makes contact with the wire
Where do you get good automotive wires to extend?
amzn.to/3uEiVUa these work great
@@AutoSensation awesome! What about the little needle pin like thing you used to tap into the rear of the headlight wires?
What year is this Honda Pilot?
2019
Do you have a link for these lights?
I got them from ebay. ebay.us/TIf5Kk
It's cool, but on street when I driving it's kinda annoying for me :/ I used to the the normal flashing ones :D
I can't see it while I'm driving but maybe annoying for others. It draws attention so they know I'm turning 😃🤷♂️
I was thinking of getting normal flashing ones. Where did you get yours?
@@ThePandaKingFTW got mine from eBay. ebay.us/TIf5Kk
That nice
What's the price of this unit pls
Around $21
What is their life span?
Not sure. Installed over a year ago and it still nice and bright. Not dead LEDs.
You need more LED's in your car LMFAO.
LMAO. Few more then I'll call it good. 🤣😉
You need to change the bottom turn signal light to led…there flashing at a slower rate
Led bulbs on order. We shall see if it matches up.
They die after 2 weeks. Bad quality
Really two weeks! Maybe a bad batch. Get a refund or exchange. I had mine for about a year and a half and even transferred it to another vehicle. Still works.
Not sure maybe. I will give another try and see. This time I will record it.
I just checked the reviw on Amazon. It seems other people had the same experience 😕
