    Four years later your video is still helping us with the information we need to know. For me this was the right video at the right time, Thanks BTW the lights can just be "glued" on with a good adhesive. Much easier than messing with the screws in those tight spots.

    Nice clear voice & easy to understand!! In my country (NZ) your DRL lights must switch off completely when you engage either side lights or low beam main headlights!! With the help of a inexpensive & simple basic relay I've been able to incorporate that requirement into the DRL system & everything is working fine & I have a new (WOF) Warrant of Fitness certificate for my now road worthy vehicle!!

    Hello. The yellow wire has go to the turn switch FOR the relay. If you turn on your turn light to the left or to the right your drl unit shutts off (left or right). You can see the turnlight better (audi). If your turnlight goes off the drl unit is lightning again.
    Have a nice day and sorry for my bad english.

    Thanks the video was helpful, it's not easy to find info on the operation characteristics of these controllers. There's very little description in the diagrams that they come with if their not completely generic...

    Best results with a proper working alternator, especially in older cars. I know you showed the DRLs shutting off at 12.6 v, but not sure what the cut-off voltage actually is. I've had cars that on rainy cold nights with most accessories on - e.g. wipers, headlights, rear window defogger, heater etc... voltage at idle will drop into the upper to even mid 12 v range if your alternator can't keep up. Not too big a deal because of the delay plus after raising your RPM s they will turn back on, but just something to consider. Thanks for the review...

    A lot of these look very similar but not all are the same. If yours does not seem to shut off correctly it may be one of the accessory (or key switched) power connection types not to be hooked directly to the battery. Some don't show it clearly especially the ones that don't really come with real packaging. Just as a note to those with unclear or non existing instructions. Some may say 'Acc' or 'Accs' for the 12v + wire if yours does you need a switched power supply to properly shut the lights off and not drain your battery. Good video, good information, I just saw that box and couldn't resist.

    like video that I watched it, blue line should connect where is best? .
    Yellow line and white line should connect everywhere as wires (+) or wire (-) of each lamp?

    So if I dont hook up the white wire, I can still use the LED module to have full brightness all the time?

    Does the dimmer also dim the indicator? Or does the indicator stay full brightness?

    I have similar to those Cree LED DRL and my question is what’s the benefit of installing them with a fuse for turning them on via Separate switch

    Hi Sir!
    Do you happen to know what polarity of the output in which the dimmer triggering wire reduces the voltage?
    Thanks and more powe!!!

    Hi Dial2Fast. Thanks for the informative video! May I ask:
    I am looking to purchase a drl controller. It has a white wire as dimmer, yellow for flasher, and blue for ACC ( and of course power ins and outs too)
    When the blue wire gets 12V (even for a second) drl remains on for a while.
    I want my DRL to light up upon unlocking car to have a welcome effect.
    Currently im thinking to feed both ignition and turn signal into the blue ACC wire.
    Im concerned that both the voltages would add up or anything like that.
    Also if turn signal and ignition are connected, im worried the turn signal would stay on forever once the car is started.
    But do you think it would work/do you have any suggestion?
    12V power source upon unlocking I can only think of turn signal and the interior room lamp hmm..

    I purchased the 4 piece 6000k Hyper White LED 12v DRL Running lights.
    I intend to put 2 on each side of the front bumper of my son's 350z.
    Do I have to have more than one DRL controller for 4 lights?
    Thank you.

    I have a controller which has an extra wire for each of the DRL - these hook to turn signals? (wouldn't the DRL flash?)

  • @richardl1572
    @richardl1572 Рік тому

    Incredibly helpful!
    Just one thing, so there's a delayed turn off when the voltage drops below 13v or so (which I don't like), when you drop the voltage to 0 I assume it turns off immediately?
    That would be more what I'd like..

    Your review and related install video were really helpful and nicely done. Really helped me as I had the exact same DRL controller. I had a problem with the white (dimming) wire. After confirming the correct wire from the headlight with a multi-meter, the connection caused the DRL's to flash & flicker when the headlights are on. I noticed you used a blue wire connector(which is usually for larger wires) instead of the red. Does using that size connector make a better connection or should I conclude the dimming feature in my controller is faulty?

    Hi thanks for the information, I purchased the same controller everything was working fine but after 1 week of use the lights won't turn on when the car starts but everything works when I turn the headlights would I have a faulty unit..

      Ssm Pap if your LED only turns on when the headlight is on, then I suspect the DRL controller unit to be bad.

      The DRL controller shown is no longer available. There is a newer one that I have used on another vehicle and it works pretty much the same. I believe the color of the wire might be different. Here is the link: amzn.to/4aG6NaJ

    which wire of low beam i should splice with white wire? + or - or even some other wires?

    • @Minoltalphafan
      @Minoltalphafan 7 років тому

      I know this is late, but there are usually 3 wires on the low beam or parking light. You need to find the live or power wire. You can unplug the light and use a meter in all three terminals, and is almost never the middle one.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  8 років тому

      +Aceplayer If the DRL controller is not working properly, then you may need to connect the power to the ignition 12V instead so it only turns on when car is running.

      You have to search on the entire description.
      For example, Googling:
      "Reduce CAR light LED DRL Relay Harness Automatic On Off Dimmer Dimming system"
      Will list this link (at least it did for me just now):
      www.ebay.com/itm/Reduce-CAR-light-LED-DRL-Relay-Harness-Automatic-On-Off-Dimmer-Dimming-system-/350862642608
      Though if you want the unit that supports the flashing / turn signal function, the description says to use this unit:
      www.ebay.com/itm/360652210923
      As usual, it's all in the details and deciphering of the translated description.
