    I am the,"Shep".Canny video and great work.Wasn't like,"Climbing a Moontin" :D
    I wonder how many man-hours and engines my method has saved.
    Remember also that there are cheaper options for the,"Mech Seal" as they are a basic unit that many Motorcycle makers use from Water pump manufacturers. In,"Aus" they are used on swimming pool pumps.
    There are always people who cannot believe that,"Home Mechanics" cannot out-think the manufacturers but this is one of my philosophies,
    "The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails".

      I need to do this fix, hopefully with engine in frame. I've been researching on the CX/GL forums but can't find a list of everything I need. That would be the pump housing gasket, the seal itself (Yamaha?), crush washer etc. Is there a shopping list so I have EVERYTHING at hand?

      paul sheppard your a legend mate. Started my build a couple weeks back and I've seen the shep method on soon many forums. Sure enough got the bike running and what do you know, got a leak coming from my weep hole so just ordered some parts to tackle this next week. I'm in Australia and wish I knew that I could use a different seal though, just ordered on from Peter Stevens for 80$!

    Great video. Thank you. I wish I would have watched this before I knocked my old cup out, and ruined the new mechanical seal and cup trying to install it. Oh well, I guess it's just another learning experience.

    Great video thanks. Those new seal cups are a nightmare to press into the rear cover, so this is a good alternative.

    I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I will be doing this to my GL500 and seeing it done definitely helps. Thanks! : )

    there are seals like that available now from aliexpress, how bad are they? also did not understand about that safety feature of leaking, where does that leak from? baecause i thought i just needed to replace the gasket...

    Where did you find a gasket for the head cover? I have been looking all over.

    Great video and good explanation. Now I have a question, my GL500 has an oil leak in that area but not coolant fluid. Changing that seal will resolve the leak? In the way it is in the video it should be the oil leak merge withe the coolant but not only oil. Am I right? Thanks

    How easy was it to change the white ceramic disk behind the impeller? Is it pressed in?

    Thanks a lot for doing all the CX500 videos man, it's such a great help!! Quick question though, at the end, what's this "washing up liquid" you speak of? Is this like soap?

      @GingerGeordieBiker  8 років тому

      +Arthur Schiffer Not a problem and yes same stuff you would use to wash your dirty plates after a meal :)

      Awesome, I literally just did this and had forgotten to add the soap until you reminded me with this. Good thing I didn't run the motor yet. Thanks again man!

    Hey mate, I'm planning on doing this next week. How long did you leave the seal in place with the gasket glue before you put it all back together?

      HMQS Gayundah Yeah not a problem since, in my mind it's a lot easier then opening up the engine and pressing a new seal in.
