As a retired police officer I have taken insults daily about me and my family and times I want to smack the person but knew it was wrong to do so and have to show restrain at all times. He should have ignored the remark and stayed in his seat and he did commit an assault on Rock and anyone else would have been charged on the spot.

I think it's a misunderstanding on Will Smith's part. He heard an insult, but if he stopped to think about it and give it some reflection, he'd see a cleverly hidden compliment because GI Jane is such a strong woman, and her hair was just in the way. Jada chose to shave as a sign of strength because her hair's condition was just in the way. I don't see the insult. I just see a comparison of 2 strong females.

If Chris didn't file charges, then what should he have been charged with. The network has a small delay when they air live shows, so they can block things like that if they want to. So the network should be charged for letting it air. Chris knows about her condition... I know about her condition, and I've never met them. Chris should have apologized to her after. It was just a bad decision to roast her condition. It's not like she CHOSE to have that haircut... Although I feel fairly sure they could scrape up enough change to afford a wig... I have an autoimmune disease, I make too much skin & look like I'm bringing snow - especially my scalp. My daughter puts a blanket down like I'm a shedding dog it's that noticeable. As a retired police officer I have taken insults daily about me and my family and times I want to smack the person but knew it was wrong to do so and have to show restrain at all times. If Chris didn't file charges, then what should he have been charged with. The network has a small delay when they air live shows, so they can block things like that if they want to. So the network should be charged for letting it air. Chris knows about her condition... I know about her condition, and I've never met them. Chris should have apologized to her after. It was just a bad decision to roast her condition. It's not like she CHOSE to have that haircut... Although I feel fairly sure they could scrape up enough change to afford a wig... I like Jim, but it appears that he has forgotten that he ,too, has been a benefactor of Hollywood's very loose stance on morality. Mr Smith was wrong. Yes, indeed. There is no complication with that fact. But it is amusing to see how outraged some people have become about this, despite those same people either benefitting from this 'turn a blind eye' mentality or embracing that mentality when it pertains to a person they know or support.

During his time in the Prince of Bel Air, let’s not forget that he made sure the actress playing his uncle’s wife was pushed out even though she had a child and needed the pay, he already abused his powers and remember he was very young, that program success was due to the wonderful script writers and all actors, a team effort. No he is not a decent man, never was.
Amazed at the amount of people who actually stood up and cheered for Will Smith after he had gotten up on stage and assaulted a man. And people clapped for him getting Best Actor award. What the hell is wrong with you America!

I imagine in his original speech he was going to say all that stuff about loving one another and being kind - and he tried to weave it into his new speech after having just assaulted a colleague on the same stage. No shame. As he cried crocodile tears his last words of the speech were "I hope the Academy invites me back."!!!

The GI Jane joke, to me, was a compliment because the character, GI Jane, was tough and persistent to accomplish goals despite hardships. Will laughed at the joke!! Jada changed his mind and he took it out on Chris Rock. The slap was done because Jada was disrespected by Will more so than by Chris.

My friend who is a flight attendant had them on his flight- will, jada and her mother. He said that will is the nicest guy but couldn’t say the same thing about his wife. She was arrogant and not very friendly. Her mother on the other hand was very sweet like will. Jada is toxic to him
