What were the VRM temps with this board on heavy load? Lots of B350 boards seem to have issues with VRM cooling when overlocking a 8 Core CPU.

Did you test with a beta BIOS? Your video shows a BIOS date 5/5/17 but on MSI website it shows initial BIOS 8th April, 2nd BIOS 10th May and latest 3rd July. Would be interested how it works now the 3rd July BIOS is out and includes latest AGESA code for better memory support.
Holy voltage Timmy! It says in BIOS it looks like it says 1.440v for DDR at the top, which is incredibly high if so, if it isn't DDR, I dunno what that setting is.
im going to use ryzen 3 1200 on this msi b350 gaming pro .. do i need to update the bios of this mobo ? since ryzen 3 just come out ? or can this mobo read ryzen 3 without any bios update ?

I have a similar motherboard MSI B350 Tomahawk. I have had no issues with it overclocks well memory worked out of the box (ordered based on compatible memory posted on website).

Can this mobo, run the gskill ddr4 3200mhz ram?
I have two questions
1)my old msi b150m motherboard with a I5-6402p took 20 seconds to both get past the bios splash screen and into windows however I upgraded to this motherboard with a ryzen 5 1600 but the time it takes to get to the windows screen is now 50 seconds because it takes around 40 seconds before the bios splash screen shows up and so I was wondering if there was a way to shorten how long of a wait it takes before you get to the bios splash screen so booting up wont take so long.
2)I'm not confident in my overclocking skills as I have never done it before and so I was wondering if toggling on the gameboost option on this motherboard would be a both safe and decent overclock for my cpu.
any advice would be great :)
1) set CPU core voltage to 1,385v
2) set CPU ratio 39 (39x100=3.9ghz) easy to get there
3) reboot pc and test stability
4) if its ok down the voltage and test again
5) go voltage down until feel stable, objective is some comfortable speed with low voltage. if u feel nice 3.9 with some voltage u can up that to 4 or 4.1 without problems. just dont go above 1.4V in cpu core voltage. u will do nice ;) ;)
about the splash screen u should notice some difference after the OC. be sure to set correct RAM speed but do it after stable CPU. be sure too have bios with right version, last one

Thanks Timmy Joe, i was deciding between that Asus mobo you have and this one, price is about the same. I'll be buying this one together with an r5 1600 and a 16gb Corsair LPX 3000mhz CL15 kit. I am mainly a gamer but i do some photo/video editing from time to time. Would you say this is a good upgrade over my old i5-2500k(@4.5ghz) ?

@@golgytv I ended up trading my old 2500k with the mobo for an x-470 board and i put a Ryzen 5 3600 in there. Got me some Micron E-die ram that i OCed to 3800mhz and i am very pleased with the results. I'd look into b450/x-470/b-550 boards over this one as they will be more future proof.
@@stonedaf8017 i was looking for msi b350 gaming plus edition with 16gb ripjaws 3200mhz, ryzen 5 1600 and rx 580 possibly maybe something lesser, is there any graphic card in a range of 100-130$ that is as good as rx 580 4gb or ? thanks for your reply

Surprised that the board would just sit at a blank screen if the overclock didn't work. My X370 from MSI does the whole "Overclocking Failed, press F1 to go into BIOS" ordeal if it fails at the overclock I set.
It did during my one test at 4.1ghz. I booted up just fine, but as soon as I started up Cinebench, it hard crashed. It took about 3 or 4 minutes to get to the screen though. I've also had it where upon changing my overclock settings and rebooting, my computer would boot up and turn off multiple times before finally booting up and getting back to that screen. I decided 4.0 was good enough for me and left it at that
can this over clock a 1600 3.2gghz to mabye 3.8 or 4.0 ghz?
Yes, you can get 3.8 easy with stock wraith cooler and I have gone up to 4.1 on liquid on this board.
would 500w psu suffice for OCing up to 3.8-4.0? also, i only have 1 case fan installed. will that affect cpu temps?
Yes but also depending on the graphics card since that will draw more power than the cpu. I would add more fans one in the front pushing air in one in the back pushing air out as a minimum. More fans wont hurt anything

My B350 Tomahawk has an option under (Motherboard Settings / Boot) to auto clear the BIOS in case you can't POST or it screws up in Windows. Probably worth checking your BIOS as it looks virtually identical in layout / functions. As long as the auto-clear option is set you should never need to reset the CMOS using a jumper. Just remember to save your OC profiles as you go so that you can reload them if it does reset to defaults.

the new Bios format is pretty much here to stay.... It took me awhile to get used to the layout.... once familiar with it, you're good to go.... This layout is on the B350, B450, and B550.... I have the B450, which is my main rig.... I'm building a B350and awaiting the CPU....a athlon X4 950. I really like the MSI brand as they seem to have some decently priced motherboards.......

I ordered this MOBO alongside some Corsair 16GB (8x2) kit, and sort of took the whole memory thing for granted and I checked and my kit doesn't appear in the compatibility list. Though, it could be due to the fact that it's a newer kit. Still, I'm nervous about that.

xotr1x I haven't checked as I haven't received the GPU. According to Corsair, my RAM should work since it *is* compatible with the Ryzen chipset. They note some exceptions with other RAM kits and specific MOBOs, but this one isn't one.
xotr1x It worked. Just because your kit isn't in the compatibility list doesn't mean it won't work. However, your first choice is better off being one of the kits listed on the compatibility page of your respective Motherboard manufacturer.
