This is fantastic and the editing is a cut above almost all other bikepacking creators I can think of
Thanks - always learning something new on every edit. Glad you enjoyed 🫶🏼
As a displaced BC Boy I love watching your videos! Cheers!
Thanks… glad I can bring you along
Rob what a beautiful scenery, look's amazing , and great video. 👍☕
Thanks Werner
This brought me joy on a tough day today, thank you, bless you. I look forward to next season.
I’m flattered ☮️ I’m glad it was just what your soul needed today.
Hello Rob, as always thanks for bringing us along.
Your very welcome 🤗
I am thoroughly enjoying this series. It always lifts my spirits.
Stay safe and stay Salty!
Glad you enjoy it!
Lovely video! So enjoyable with a cup of tea sitting back watching that!
Thanks 😊
Spent my summers at Victoria Lake. It's beautiful.
It was such a lovely spot, I wish could have just stayed the week….
Amazing,ride strong my friend.
Thanks ✌️
always enjoy your vids
Thanks Garry 😊
Great video. Was happy to see that you got SOME sunshine. I've also been burned by getting off brand batteries for my electronics...never again!
Yeah…. And you don’t know until you try. Oddly the only reason I bought them was for the slim triple charger to pack with me. Wish GoPro would get away from their blocky brick.
Port Alice has some of the best pizza I've ever had!
I’ll have to remember that for next trip
beautiiful sharing- 😈
😊 thanks
Absolutely beautiful Rob! Thank you for the Sunday morning solitude treat! 💕
Welcome 🤗
Maaaan!! I love it, I love all your vids and stories 😊😊 I wish one day to bike your beautiful island. Thanks from the other side of the Atlantic 🤗🤗
Someday you will Rafael ~ glad you're enjoying the adventures. :)
So much like my home in the south Puget Sound. The fire roads in Capitol Forest look very like the gravel there.
We’re not made of sugar ~ we won’t melt ! LOL
Beautifully shot & edited 👍🏼
Thanks Regan, glad you enjoyed it 🤜🏼🤛🏽
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures I have the GoPro hero 7 & iphone 11 too. Just curious, do you like to shoot in 4K for your biking videos? Or 1080 HD? And wow… your fixed gear backpacking bike hit 44 miles per hr on that downhill! 😳 🚴
@@Regantdarcy /. Yeah, I was reviewing my ride data and was a little surprised. Earlier in that video just prior to me riding up to that large logging truck, I hit 65 km/h (40 mph) ripping down to sea level. While I was always shoot in 4K/60, it was a big decision to start editing in a 4K timeline. Due to computer/storage limitations, I didn't start doing 4K right away. In reality there is lots I could shoot at 30fps, however, I like the flexibility to do some speed ramping, or 50% slow motion. Before trips, I dump everything I can off my phone, so I have about 100GB of storage free. I will periodically trim/delete some footage along the way. In a pinch, I have a lightning to SD dongle for my phone so I can dump files to a 128GB SD card. It's a pretty slow process. On trips I always carry 4 MicroSD cards for my GoPro, and 2 for my drone. Plus an extra 128GB SD for emergency phone dump. I "just" bought a new camera, and have to now look at storage needs while on trips all over again. I will probably get an SSD with build-in card reader to dump the camera... or just buy more cards. I may keep my trip videos at 4K, and start to produce how-to-videos at 1080. Unsure on this right now. Each of my 4K episodes end up about 6G once rendered out. Rule of thumb is to set your bitrate 2x your FPS. But the way UA-cam re/compresses, you need to run even higher for best quality. So, I'm cranking files out at 80,000 bit rate. If you're interested in these output settings, I know of great video that dives into science of this, specifically for UA-camrs.
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures Thanks! Great info!
Such beauty. The other day I noticed that it had been a while since I saw your updates. Then this dropped and I realized that I had completely missed episode 9. So this evening I got a double dose of the beauty. Oh, and I turned on notifications which is something I rarely do. I don't want to miss your next one.
I apologize for the long wait… life’s been busy. Thanks for hanging in with me 🤘🏼
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures Please, no apology needed. We're all just happy that you share your travels with us.
Gorgeous footage as always! I recently had issues with my gopro as well in the cold. Batteries showing charge but kept cutting out. Keep up the awesome work!
I didn’t know about issues with the batteries until I did some digging. PITA 😳. Thanks for watching 😊
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures which did you get? I got TOMSHEIR 1800mAh Replacement Batteries from Amazon with a charger and I've had a few issues. Might test some others.
@@JakebMiller I got some NEEWER 1500 mAh batteries. They seemed to work find at first, but it wasn't long before I had the fabled "audio only clips" ... then unexplained reboots, and completely frozen GoPro. When I started researching this, everyone said it aftermarket batteries are to blame, so I started monitoring my problems. I have never had any issues, while running a GoPro Battery. I ask Santa for a few GoPro batteries in my stocking every year now :)
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures Thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye on mine but I haven't had any further issues.
Again with the rain! Your wet tolerance amazes and inspires me. But there IS no sight like steam rising off of a road in the sun. Brings one hope. I like those Raceface shorts - where did you get them?
I got them at MEC (a Canadian store), but I’m sure you could find them in many places. Race Race Ardent winter MTB shorts
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures Sadly, Race Face appears to have discontinued them. Their Conspiracy Shorts might be the replacement model, but they don't appear to have the gator feature.
@@jimmccorison Jim, yeah it looks like they've discontinued the Ardent Shorts (bummer), but the Conspiracy shorts also look pretty good. I'm not sure how much muck the snow cuffs were keeping out, but they also kept out the "cold drafts" - if you get my drift. LOL. They also come in pant too. Endura & Gore make some wonderful winter type waterproof shorts worth checking out.
Great video! Putting on wet clothes isn't fun, especially when it is chilly!
So true! But if you want to keep the rest of your stuff dry... oh well.
